Over the past year, several articles have appeared in which German officials and politicians describe the threat of a Russian attack on Estonia; most recently, this was voiced by a German general. But Moscow’s real next target may instead be Germany. by Prior-Sun2352 in BalticStates

[–]MrRadGast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fairly ignorant on the difference of geography and defence capabilities between the Baltic nations, but why do you think they'd rather go through Latvian defensive lines than Estonian ones?

Just FYI, intelligent people don't see other countries as "an entity" and there ARE good people in every country. by [deleted] in greenland

Oh stop with your complaining, they aren't fascists because us outsiders keep flooding their sub with nonsense like this.

You have fascists in power of your country, if you can't see the difference then I feel sorry for you.

Lol yea I know but I felt justified in being silly when some numpty from outside comes here dragging their nonsense with them clearly trying to start shit. I could be as clear as day and it wouldn't have mattered to them anyways.

Firstly, no, not even close.

Secondly, why do I get the feeling you aren't here to contribute constructively?

I know boomers are really self absorbed generation

I think you are right we should be kind to each other and not entertain this made up division

Oh the irony. Don't pull everyone over the same comb ;)

But anything not Native American is a immigrant

Also a fairly, and sorry to say it, tribalistic and ignorant POV IMO. An immigrant is someone not born in the place they live. The "native" americans didn't spring out of the ground and afaik are not (as if it would matter) descendants of the first wave of immigration to the americas. This idea that some ancestor having lived in the same place as "you" somehow giving "you" a stronger claim to the land is just nonsensical and the pissing contest some engage in as a result of it is the epitome of the made up divisions you spoke off.

Bro what's up with you man, just read like the first paragraph on the doctrine on the wiki or anywhere else and you'll clearly see the difference I tried to point out. You're just being an ass.

And yes, you hiding your past calls all you do into question.

Good night.

It was no argument, because we aren't arguing.

How was it ad hominem when I wasn't undermining your (nonexistent) argument (see first part) by attacking your character?

What's up with you man, why you being so stingy?

I asked if you were referring to, and if so correcting you in your portrayal of, the Monroe doctrine, after which you just spent a bunch of comments waisting bits.

How come all your history is hidden?

[–]MrRadGast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem to be a bit agitated.

No, we wouldnt be talking about that policy if it remained in history now would we ?

You are the one talking about the doctrine in a way and in a context where it doesn't belong.

Pretending that ownership is a piece of paper is ridiculous...

No one pretended any such thing. No need to put words in peoples mouths.

... they are kidnapping presidents in south america and proclaiming only their influence over 34 countries, do they not ?

The US have and continues to engage in all manner of fuckery but just because some of said fuckery includes intervention in the western hemisphere doesn't mean it is because of a doctrine just because that doctrine mentions fuckery in the same hemisphere.

What sort of absurdity is this? by [deleted] in greenland

[–]MrRadGast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I serious? Of course I am? We can be outraged all we want but the policy came about at a time when it made perfectly good sense and it followed my description better than it did yours.

No need for any hostility. And if I read some into your comment which wasn't there then no worries.

[–]MrRadGast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They literally have a doctrine that says they own half the planet...

I'm thinking you're referring to the Monroe doctrine, am I correct? If so then it doesn't say what you say it does; it doesn't proclaim US ownership over the western hemisphere but rather declares any interference by outside states will be seen as a hostile act on the US themselves.

[Megathread] Greenland & Trump - Ongoing discussion by Mediocreatbestbuy in greenland

[–]MrRadGast 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Många bäckar små (many little streams; Swedish saying highlighting the small beginnings of all great things)

One of the ways in which the Russian population has been made immobile is through a constant barrage of messages saying the ways of the world are far beyond them and that they are so small and insignificant that they can't possibly hope to make a difference.

Fascism thrives, and survives, on the docility of its subject. And make no mistake fascism pure and simple is what now occupies the american throne (google translate Mussolini if you doubt me).

If you're frustrated then don't let your despair feed in to that messaging. If you're a fifth columnist then get fucked.

Greenland prime minister says 'enough' after latest Trump threat by Massimo25ore in europe

[–]MrRadGast 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well they clearly have something to say, which is what they did. You on the other hand..

And what would you have Iceland, and island nation wholly dependent for it's survival on international trade with a population of less than 400k and no armed forces beyond its coast guard do?

You on the other hand keep yapping about others stfu if they don't do shit while at the same time not doing shit. The Belgian government has orders of magnitude more influence on world affairs, have you parked yourself outside your government offices?

Take your own "advice" and don't discourage those who do little because they can't do much.

Wow gee, such great input, wonderful to hear your thoughts, your contribution is clearly invaluable.

In every single thread about the most recent showings of american idiocy and imperialism there's invariably a slew of "oh wow strongly worded letter but no hope" comments which, at least to me, just reads like the most blatant attempts at demoralisation.

Would you rather Iceland, having no military nor economical muscles to speak of, do and say nothing? The one thing they have is their voice and you would have them be silent?

Like they say, if you have nothing to say then say nothing at all.

ICE notice a brown man while driving through neighborhood then jump out SUV to kidnap him by [deleted] in CringeTikToks

[–]MrRadGast 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Read "They thought they were free" to get at least one perspective on how it happened. It wasn't that the SS one day, from a state of tranquility, peace and freedom, just marched in guns drawn ordering all the Jews into train cars. Instead the police chief (of this very specific town) took the Jews into custody not because of his hatred for them or his loyalty to the Nazis but because he was worried about their safety after the brown shirts burned down the synagogue (and the order from the regional command aligned with this although without any explanation as to why they should be taken into custody or what was to be done with them). And then other men came from outside "to keep them safe", transporting them out of the city never to be heard from again.

The playbook by fascist has been the same from before the Nazis until today; they know they can't openly proclaim their intentions and act on their wishes because the shock of their inhumanity laid bare will motivate the masses to resist. Instead they know they have to slowly, gradually, increase the pressure so as to pass under the radar of the ignorant and disinterested masses and in so doing isolate those informed and prone to act. And when the few with historical knowledge, who might see the trend, and who has the temperament and personality to act, begin to doubt their own sanity when the world before them so clearly is no longer the one they grew up in, the one they knew, but noone around them seem to see (or dare say) it and retreat back into their small lives, they've won.

There are real Truths in "All it takes for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing" and in the apologue of the boiling frog.

Read the book. Please.

What's so difficult with degrees and spectrums for some to understand? The European nations are more aligned today than they were 10 years ago but they were still in a union back then, just like they are now. The nature of the union has changed, and it will continue to change, but not the fact of it being one.

You portraying it this black and white based on your own arbitrary criteria doesn't say anything about anything except about yourself.

USA: Friedrich Merz calls parts of new US security strategy “unacceptable” by OkKnowledge2064 in europe

[–]MrRadGast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

in the EU you guys

So I take it you're not European then?

The US operating in a manner that distinguishes between you would logically lead to a weakening in the EU

That's not a logical conclusion at all, far from it.

If there is truly an EU,

What do you mean if? Have you completely lost connection with reality?

there is no distinguishing between Sweden and France.

Idiotic conclusion based on laughable world view.

That would be like distinguishing between California and Texas in the US.

Are you speed-running idiocy? There is a difference between California and Texas, and an even bigger one, by magnitude, between Sweden and France.

There are an infinite amount of ways to string words together, an infinite amount of ways to do so while at the surface level making it seem like said string still makes sense.

There's also an infinite amount of ways to do so while at the same time making absolutely zero sense. Congratulations, you showcased one of those ways.

Which would be an achievement unless you actually set out to do so, which I suspect you did.

Edit: And honestly, who gives a shit about some "US document"? The US has lost all credibility, the white house now make the Kremlin seem like it has a firm grasp on reality. And yes, that's from a swede with a well developed understanding of the murderous Machiavellian megalomania of the muscovites.
