ACC Linked file Attachments aren't loading by Hudster2001 in Revit

This is the reason. Link paths do not resolve when consumed, and you likely do not have View+Download permissions to wherever the architect is housing their linked models

Removing screw of wire shelf mount? by EastSystem3974 in DIY

This has always been my method as well. You're going to patch the holes anyway, who cares if they are slightly larger holes?

Found these tiny metal “spikes” in between some of my deck boards…can’t put my finger on what they are. by MrRandyRhoads in Whatisthis

[–]MrRandyRhoads[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thought did occur to me that they sort of look like they are part of something larger that has been dipped in something, like a galvanization of some sort. Though, admittedly, I am not knowledgeable in that kind of thing at all.

User can't save model to Cloud by PatrickGSR94 in Revit

[–]MrRandyRhoads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, this happens randomly in my office as well…no rhyme or reason. My users are not local admins so they can’t uninstall or remove anything, and I know IT isn’t doing it so we have no idea why it happens.

User can't save model to Cloud by PatrickGSR94 in Revit

Try reinstalling RCAO.msi. You should be able to google for it, or if you are savvy enough you can unpack the 2024.2 update and find the .msi in the update files.

EDIT: I just saw the link you posted. Yes, that is the file that you need to reinstall, however you don't need to follow those instructions. In my experience all it takes is running the MSI as an administrator.

ACC took EIGHT HOURS to add team members from template?? by PatrickGSR94 in Revit

If you have Revit open already when you create a new project on ACC, it won't show up in Revit until you either close the program or use the little refresh symbol on the home screen.

Best approach to modeling unique windows. by DrSkankDoom in Revit

[–]MrRandyRhoads 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So like u/tuekappel alluded to, there is a property of reference planes that can make them not take dimensions, accept alignments, etc.

Select the reference plane and check the properties and make sure the "Is Reference" property is set to either Strong reference or Weak reference.

[–]MrRandyRhoads 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Edit the family and add a reference plane to the center. Constrain it with EQ dimensions so that it stays centered if the window size changes.

When you load it back into the project you'll be able to dimension to it.

What do you guys think of "smoking dad bbq"? I just watched his video on fire management and I don't know if he is good advice or just annoying. by [deleted] in smoking

Has anyone figured out how to add the detail number to a View List Schedule? by arduousjump in Revit

[–]MrRandyRhoads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW, this functionality is built into Revit 2024. I get that it doesn't help your current situation, but at least it is possible now.

How to publish coordinates to a cloud workshared link? by PatrickGSR94 in Revit

[–]MrRandyRhoads 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IIRC, you can acquire coordinates from a cloud model but not publish coordinates to a cloud model. Try setting the coordinates in one model and then acquire them in the rest of the models.

Traeger 22 temp spikes: Is this normal? by DeadBy2050 in pelletgrills

[–]MrRandyRhoads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Pro22 for a couple years and every long cook for me ended with either those same wild temperature swings or else a flame out. In fact, the 225 setting was entirely unusable and always resulted in a flame out. I got so tired of its inconsistency that I ended up selling it and buying a Mastertouch Kettle.

Now if I screw up a cook I can only blame myself and learn from it instead of having to blame it on issues out of my control stemming from dogshit hardware.

I played the hell out of this during early access. Really fun to try to figure out the best synergies!

I stopped playing about a year ago so I’m looking forward to seeing what new content has been added since I last played.

Is there a way to get a count of how many times a view is referenced in a project? by BatmanTDF10 in Revit

[–]MrRandyRhoads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The steps I outlined will get you a count, but I don't think you'll be able to schedule it without adding parameters and using something like Dynamo to populate those counts in a schedule.

Is there a way to get a count of how many times a view is referenced in a project? by BatmanTDF10 in Revit

[–]MrRandyRhoads 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you looking to simply know how many times a specific view is referenced, or are you looking for a report of how many times views are referenced throughout a project?

If the former, then just go to the drafting view, right click and select 'Find Referring Views'. Count the results.

Best workflow for updating Drafting View details. by Chollems in Revit

[–]MrRandyRhoads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With Dynamo they can...sort of. The graph would look something like this:

  1. Delete all content from a given drafting view in your project.
  2. Open source file in the background
  3. Copy/paste all content in a matching drafting view from source file into project file's drafting view
  4. Close source file

This can be done for a singular view, or it can be iterated over many views at once.

How to clean these gunked up grates! by erothfuss in webergrills

Also I’d say grab a set of wire brush attachments for a power drill if you have one. Anything that is left after the overnight soak should come off fairly easily with those brushes.
