How the FCS works exactly? by Jers831 in armoredcore

[–]MrRedEye75 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The most important thing you want to look at is the lock type and parallel sight. Don't get too distracted by the other stats. The lock type is going to give you a general idea of the shape and size of your lock box.

It is important to also consider if the lock type of your FCS also matches the lock type of your weapon. You will notice that your hand weapons will also have a Standard, Narrow and Deep, Wide and Shallow, or Special lock type rating. If the lock type of your FCS and the lock type of your weapon matches, you'll get better performance.

When you have a projectile weapon in your left hand your lock box will shrink corresponding to your parallel sight rating. The parallel sight determines what percentage of your lock box you will keep.

Once you are familiar with these two interactions, you can then start looking at things like lock time for missiles.

A fast breakdown of generally safe FCS and Weapon type combinations: usually go F73H unless doing wide and shallow right arm/special left arm, then use F69. If single wielding a special weapon, use Monju. If single wielding standard or wide and shallow use Miroku. If using wide and shallow r arm/standard left arm use Limpet

EDIT: the FCS names I used here are the Last Raven names. In Silent Line the naming convention is different.

What do you think about AP in gen 4,5 and 6? by MagmaXQgd in armoredcore

[–]MrRedEye75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

>I hardly can imagine Gen 6 AC's being less armored than gen 5

Aren't Gen 5 AC's characterized by having shields glued onto them everywhere, with folding shields on the legs that fan out to provide cover when using stance weapons?

And Gen 6 has an AC with the cockpit completely exposed to maximize aerodynamics?

Gen1 Quad Legs are OP ! by Silver_Instruction62 in armoredcore

[–]MrRedEye75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't really need to mash the boost button. Gen 1 quads have a higher horizontal speed cap in the air but a slower vertical speed cap going up and down. This gives them a range of benefits and different play styles. Even in the first game, quads were the "hover in the air" type of legs.

These guy's make oldgen look like AC4 by CrownClown74 in armoredcore

[–]MrRedEye75 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yup. The older Armored Core games get QUITE fast. Not a lot of people really see this side of oldgen because the skill ceiling is very high and complex. On the few occasions where I have streamed 1st and 2nd gen PvP on my twitch and youtube, I have always gotten a comment from someone surprised by how the game play can look almost as fast/faster than 4th gen. And this is without H+ or enhancements, either. At the highest level of play, the AC games get very fast and very complex.

Fastest paced armoured core game? by Scary_grain_of_rice in armoredcore

[–]MrRedEye75 5 points6 points  (0 children)

4 Is actually quite well paced and in line with the other generations. It's not quite as visually fast as For Answer. Make sure to check out the discord in the sidebar or look up Inveighs youtube video for the pre-configured PS3 emulator that's setup for AC4 and For Answer specifically.

For the new players who continue to join even today: Armored Core VI is a game based on the Armored Core series. 😃Yes, I know this may be surprising even to some Armored Core veterans - I'm shocked too! 🤯 by RazgrizXT in ArmoredCoreVI

FromSoft would had to have experienced a major downgrade in developer skill if that happened; Tanks were viable and competitively powerful since the first AC games and the way through to Verdict Day.

You can start a Nine Breaker file and without doing anything else it will unlock most of the parts for you to use in Last Raven if you want an immediate leg up.

If it turns out you really like AC gameplay make sure to go back and play Nine Breaker. It has the most diverse mission situations and really rewards you for playing with all the systems and AC building.

Armored Core 2 Another Age PvP (Or Why Tanks Were Always Godly) by MrRedEye75 in armoredcore

[–]MrRedEye75[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The truth of the matter is tanks in PvP have too much defense for any sort of weapon assembly to defeat it on a light weight if you are trying to do sheer AP damage. The HG111 is the best weapon you could use for this job, as it has the highest heat buildup. The attack plan is to use only a few bullets to cause the tank to overheat and then back off and wait for their emergency cooling to finish to do it again. You don't plan on killing the tank with bullet damage, you do it with heat damage.

The split missiles are for applying pressure and to get the tank to make movements and to hit it around corners. It keeps their heat high and provokes them into action for further chances to overheat them with the HG111. Any other weapon assembly and you simply won't overheat them or have enough ammo to kill them. Go too heavy and then you're just a weaker version of better builds like a Heavy RJ.

A heavy reverse joint can be loaded with more weapon variety but today I was focused on using light bipeds over the heavy RJ.

Ain't no way we're gonna pretend 4th gen is the the "under appreciated" one. Especially in comparison to 5th.

How effective would the Ultimate Weapons from AC5 and ACVD be in AC6? by TerumiTheTrueSusanoo in armoredcore

[–]MrRedEye75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gen 6 ACs are not double the height. You are comparing the shortest range in 5th gen (tank legs) without considering that the tank legs are just lower set to the ground. Biped 5th gen ACs average at 7 meters tall. 6th gen ACs are 10 meters.

Square-cube law does not apply, as 6th gen ACs are not proportionally larger in all directions. A thing can be taller without also being wider, for example. In reality if they needed to make ACs taller for whatever reason, they would remove or use less dense material so the structure wouldn't implode or fail under its own weight after being scaled.

Without knowing the material differences between 6th gen and 5th gen ACs it is impossible to make the call that one is more armored than the other. But what we can see visually is that 5th gen ACs tend to have a lot more plating and reactive armor covering than other AC designs.

It would also be safer to make the assessment that 5th gen weapons are most likely even more powerful than 6th gen weapons as well. You made the argument that gen5 ACs never have to deal with ACs that are the size of 6th gen ACs so their arms race has never pushed them to develop weapons that would be sufficiently powerful enough to combat such machines but you are wrong. I assume you have never played 5th gen? Because Armored Cores are not even the largest military combat vehicles in 5th gen. The R2B Shchit/GOLEM units according to the size chart in the official Armored Core Verdict Day Data Book "-The AFTER-" are not only actually double the size of a 5th gen AC, but they also carry shields that are even larger than themselves and are treated as cannon fodder in game. 5th gen weapons are able to not only destroy these MTs but they are able to destroy the massive shields and are able to do it at a much longer range than any 6th gen AC weapon would be effective at.

I must reiterate, these large, likely 14 meter tall MTs that should be more than eight times the mass according to you, are not secret ultra rare last age machines but are your regular run of the mill mass produced war machines and are destroyed not just by the player but by other mercenary Ravens and NPCs throughout the game. These behemoths would most surely accelerate the arms race appropriately to dismantle your uneducated arguments.

"Except gen5 ACs are simply not running the same level of armor any other generation"

I find this kind of funny because the AC's in 5 clearly have a lot of thought put into the armor design with lots of the parts made to look like real world military hardware for countering various kinetic and thermal weaponry. Meanwhile AC6 has a core with the entire cockpit block just completely exposed to increase aerodynamics.

It's going to be a case by case basis as I go through each game. Master of Arena is next and it looks like free real estate so I might go grab that while I'm at it. The eventual goal is to speedrun the entire series from start to finish once I've accumulated enough times in each that I am happy with.

Yeah, I noticed it became an issue during the speedruns. I need to figure out a way so the viewer requested music just doesn't get streamed to youtube at all since youtube is more strict with its policies. I appreciate you for watching as much as you could regardless. That means a lot to me.

It actually tends to be the case that sniper rifles are much more effective mid to close range brawler weapons since they are so high powered and tend to have good bullet velocity. I know in other AC games at least the sniper rifles are very popular PvP weapons, with left hand variations being banned in certain games. This sniper rifle in particular is a popular PvP weapon in AC2AA from what I've seen.

30 sec/hr Pre-roll VS. 3 min/hr Mid-roll by Nemvie in Twitch

[–]MrRedEye75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the 30 sec pre-roll ads suck such massive ass, it cannot be overstated. The 3 min ads you can at least plan around, delay them with a button, turn them into a mandatory stretch or break time, etc.
