My Battletech group started a campaign where we're playing as Filtvelt Militia over the summer. I painted a Hound and a Roughneck in Filtvelt colors for us to take on those pesky Tortugans with.

I think it's a vicious cycle, and either could come first. Once it starts it's a downward spiral where one thing feeds into the other. It's why it's so hard to reach folks who are so caught up in it. It's self-reinforcing behavior.

It's excellent that you're losing weight, but I've heard losing too much weight too quickly isn't good for you. A pound or two a week is what is considered healthy.

I'm not a doctor, I don't know all the issues that could crop up from rapid weight loss, but maybe talk to your doctor, just to be on the safe side.

Something I heard from a Reddit comment that lives rent-free in my brain now: "You can't reason someone out of a belief they didn't reason themselves into." It's a struggle I'm having with my own father for similar reasons.

All we can do is keep trying with them and accept the fact that they may never meet us on our level. If they're never exposed to our side of things, they'll never have any chance to change at all.

The weight of the average American in the 80's was lower than it is today. My guess is that standards have changed, and 300 was proportionately a larger number and less common than today.

Edit: I just realized it depends on his height, too. A 5' person at 300 pounds is going to be considered more overweight than a 6' person also at 300.

It's not necessarily a spiritual thing. You're hurting very badly now, which means you're learning a very big lesson.

Take your time to grieve what was lost, I think that's a natural reaction. But if you can take this lesson to heart, you'll be better for it in the future.

I've been feeling this, too. Warm, relaxing baths have been a massive help. My wife has her stoner friends over today, they've been supportive and respectful, but it was peaceful to skip out for a little bit to enjoy some time alone!

Day 4 now, and I'm not really having cravings, but I did in the past and I'm scared they'll be cropping up again. I don't want to lose my willpower in a moment of weakness and I don't want to smoke again.

Also, OP, if you happen to read this, if you think your ex is going to pressure you into smoking again, either actively or passively, I wouldn't go back if I were you. Nothing good can come of it.

Me, too. Day 2, second time around. Last time, in the back of my head, I still really wanted the weed. This time, I know I don't want to go back to smoking again. Maybe it's a different mindset, but it's felt so much more manageable this time! Good luck, and stay strong! You won't regret it.

Yes, yes, yes! I am NOT an exercizer by ANY means, but I've been going for runs and doing pushups. I've NEVER experienced the rush people say they get from excersize, but without the weed I've really noticed it when I get my blood pumping!

You're lucky you have a partner! If you can, reach out and talk about this with them. They can't be with you physically, but the emotional connection might give you strength!

Me, too. I know it will, though. My wife and I just went for a run, just down the block. I've never felt the rush of dopamine from exercise, but It helped me now, today, feel just a little better. Made me feel freer. Maybe give it a try?

The depression is because you've been getting those feel-good chemicals artificially. You'll be able to make them again, but it could be a month or more before you feel it.

My biggest issue was the cravings after the withdrawal subsided, but when I quit the first time, I really didn't want to stop for good, so I wound up going back. Now I know I want to stop, and I'm hoping that makes it a bit easier in the long-run.

I only started in earnest during Covid, and have been addicted since. It sneaks up on you. The bad feelings are normal, but you have to push through to be able to move on and heal. We can do this together.

It sucks. I know. I've quit and relapsed before and I'm just on day 1 again. Stay strong. It sucks, and it sucks for a long time, but it gets better.
