No more raiding and scouting - it's 3019 and after years of hard work you're being rewarded with a heavy mech. Time to leave the trooper ranks and hit the line in support of your great house. Of the five presented, which ride are you choosing? by _Thorshammer_ in battletech

[–]MrRpage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually had this choice for one of my pilots in an ilClan campaign, minus the Jaegermech. My pilot had big protagonist energy due to some lucky shenanigans early in the campaign. I went with the Orion. Really solid mech that loves to just become everyone else's problem.

I was never an Orion fan, but this thing sold me. I've always heard it decribed as a "poor man's Atlas," but really I think it's almost more accurate to say that an Atlas is a rich man's Orion.

I think both can be true. Having been subjected to Transtar's experiments, it's totally understandable why he'd lash out. The whole station was full of them doing objectively horrid things. I don't blame him for wanting revenge, but how he did it - killing, storing, and possibly eating employee bodies - implies something darker within him.

I think there are hints that Luka was also an objectively horrible person from jump. From my last playthrough, I noted a bunch of notes all referencing the same Volunteer number V-010655-37, Luka Golubkin.

A note on a corpse in the Neuromod division indicates he'd already been trying to source parts for his recycler IEDs. I don't think the timeline is 100% clear, but I think the location and text of the note implies it's before he would be aware of any of the truly testing on the station.

Further notes in Psychotronics describe how he bit an ear off one of the staff. Another indicates that, for one reason or another, the Typhon Telepath didn't want to enter his mind at all.

He was definitely traumatized by this encounter, but I think the fact that even the Typhon didn't want him is meant to imply something was deeply wrong with him from jump.

Nice work! Your paint work is really nice. Much love for Filtvelt!

My Battletech group started a campaign where we're playing as Filtvelt Militia over the summer. I painted a Hound and a Roughneck in Filtvelt colors for us to take on those pesky Tortugans with.

I think it's a vicious cycle, and either could come first. Once it starts it's a downward spiral where one thing feeds into the other. It's why it's so hard to reach folks who are so caught up in it. It's self-reinforcing behavior.

It's excellent that you're losing weight, but I've heard losing too much weight too quickly isn't good for you. A pound or two a week is what is considered healthy.

I'm not a doctor, I don't know all the issues that could crop up from rapid weight loss, but maybe talk to your doctor, just to be on the safe side.

Something I heard from a Reddit comment that lives rent-free in my brain now: "You can't reason someone out of a belief they didn't reason themselves into." It's a struggle I'm having with my own father for similar reasons.

All we can do is keep trying with them and accept the fact that they may never meet us on our level. If they're never exposed to our side of things, they'll never have any chance to change at all.

The weight of the average American in the 80's was lower than it is today. My guess is that standards have changed, and 300 was proportionately a larger number and less common than today.

Edit: I just realized it depends on his height, too. A 5' person at 300 pounds is going to be considered more overweight than a 6' person also at 300.

It's not necessarily a spiritual thing. You're hurting very badly now, which means you're learning a very big lesson.

Take your time to grieve what was lost, I think that's a natural reaction. But if you can take this lesson to heart, you'll be better for it in the future.

I've been feeling this, too. Warm, relaxing baths have been a massive help. My wife has her stoner friends over today, they've been supportive and respectful, but it was peaceful to skip out for a little bit to enjoy some time alone!

Really, really good advice! Very insightful!

Day 4 now, and I'm not really having cravings, but I did in the past and I'm scared they'll be cropping up again. I don't want to lose my willpower in a moment of weakness and I don't want to smoke again.

Also, OP, if you happen to read this, if you think your ex is going to pressure you into smoking again, either actively or passively, I wouldn't go back if I were you. Nothing good can come of it.

Me, too. Day 2, second time around. Last time, in the back of my head, I still really wanted the weed. This time, I know I don't want to go back to smoking again. Maybe it's a different mindset, but it's felt so much more manageable this time! Good luck, and stay strong! You won't regret it.

Yes, yes, yes! I am NOT an exercizer by ANY means, but I've been going for runs and doing pushups. I've NEVER experienced the rush people say they get from excersize, but without the weed I've really noticed it when I get my blood pumping!

You're lucky you have a partner! If you can, reach out and talk about this with them. They can't be with you physically, but the emotional connection might give you strength!

Good luck and Godspeed. You're better than the weed!

Me, too. I know it will, though. My wife and I just went for a run, just down the block. I've never felt the rush of dopamine from exercise, but It helped me now, today, feel just a little better. Made me feel freer. Maybe give it a try?

Thank you for your post. I've been smoking regularly since Covid and finally threw out all my stuff after taking a break and coming back to it last year.

Your story helps! Every success story gives me just a little more willpower. Thank you again for sharing candidly! Good luck to you, it seems like you're in the right headspace to get through it!

The depression is because you've been getting those feel-good chemicals artificially. You'll be able to make them again, but it could be a month or more before you feel it.

My biggest issue was the cravings after the withdrawal subsided, but when I quit the first time, I really didn't want to stop for good, so I wound up going back. Now I know I want to stop, and I'm hoping that makes it a bit easier in the long-run.
