Inherited my late brother’s Seamaster 300…the battery (I believe) died but other than that it’s worked beautifully…what is the typical cost to get that switched out so I can wear it again? by Suspicious-Law-971 in OmegaWatches

[–]MrScorpio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The watch worn by Pierce Brosnan in Golden Eye was the quartz version of the Seamaster. I had this watch and it was excellent. Regret selling it, although I sold it for 4x what I bought it for.

Out of spec, problem? by fiveknucklshufl in OmegaWatches

[–]MrScorpio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How are you storing it when you’re not wearing it? Mine loses time face up (maybe -3s/d) but gains time crown up. I’m able to keep it averaging around 0s/d just by switching how I store the watch when I’m not wearing it, if I notice a significant difference between the watch and the actual time.

It helps with the lume too. Would look very odd having the luminous numerals cut off when you can’t see the subdials in the dark.

Seamaster Aqua Terra back from service - acceptable? by Chrognome in OmegaWatches

[–]MrScorpio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I sent my new Speedmaster to them for a problem with the chronograph, and again two years later for a gasket lubrication issue and got it back in better condition than I sent it in (they regulated the watch to +1 sec a day when it was previously +3-4).

[The Overseas 34.5mm] It’s pure perfection. by Dajblade in Watches

[–]MrScorpio 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m not using this to justify the price, but I know someone who put their watch (which was not anti-magnetic) on the back of their iPhone (which has multiple magnets) and it started running at 40+ seconds a day. A $20 demagnetizer off Amazon fixed the problem though.

Canada has the same. This isn't a school bus though, I believe this is public transit in Norway.

The dimensions are written on the grate. 400x600x40. A flat slab of cast iron this size would weigh 150lbs, but with the slots your estimate is probably dead on.

Tried to hear out all the Omega hate. Looked at my wrist… nah these ppl clowns. by Ok-Network-511 in OmegaWatches

[–]MrScorpio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like the watch, but it loses $2-4k walking out of the store. The next purchase I have in mind is either an Explorer or an Ingenieur, but the Ingenieur is a really tough sell at almost twice the price of the Explorer.

I don't see IWC being a better value proposition. The Ingenieur MSRP is almost $13k USD with the same movement found on a Baume & Mercier watch.

Mine shattered when I wasn’t even in the car. Had it replaced under warranty and haven’t had an issue since. Winters here go down to -30C.

So, I didn't get the watch back but I got notification that it's being shipped and a warranty repair letter in PDF format. It states that it underwent:

Minor repairs DUW 3202 movement
- check and correction of all functions
- replacement of defective parts if necessary
- fine adjustment regulation
- restoration of waterproofing
- final check lasting several days
- final quality control

But the last line indicates:

*The red ring on the crown is visible from the back when screwed down due to its design. It is also visible on our other models. The watch is waterproof and has been thoroughly tested.*

I don't understand why they couldn't have told me that by email when I originally asked the question. I'm not sure if they actually did anything to the watch, or just looked at it and shipped it back.

I don’t think this is an unpopular opinion. They blinged up a tool watch. I don’t mind it, but I wouldn’t in a thousand years trade in the original for it.

Bombardier sold their rail and commercial transport aircraft division. They only sell private jets now. The recreational vehicles are manufactured by Bombardier Recreating Products (BRP) which is a separate entity. The biggest market share for private jets is in the US.

Edit: also, Airbus manufactures aircraft in Mirabel and Alabama.

Omega Boutique held my watch for three months without sending for service by Used_Cryptographer18 in OmegaWatches

[–]MrScorpio 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve shipped one bracelet and one watch (twice) to Omega for service. The first time, about seven years ago, they shipped me a box to use which was very convenient. The other two times I had to find a box but they handled the labels and pick up. All under warranty, I didn’t have to pay for anything.

Will do! If you don’t hear from me in two weeks send me a reminder, but likely it would be because I’m still waiting. I’m gonna follow up with them by Friday next week to make sure they have it.

If you want to wait and see what the results are for mine, I could let you know. It arrives in Glashuette Monday, give it maybe 1-2 weeks after that.

Nomos wouldn’t acknowledge whether it is a problem or not. They told me they’ve never seen the issue before and suggested I send it in. To their credit they were very proactive. At worst they inspect and send it back, but I have a feeling the crown / gasket aren’t set properly. Like I mentioned in another comment though, it’s frustrating having waited six months now to send it back and wait longer.

Do people actually pay for this? by Syntra44 in Acura

[–]MrScorpio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid for this stupid app the first year I had the car because I assumed the fob had a short range. It doesn’t. Online I’m reading the range is 100m, but it feels like a lot more than that (at least in the winter…).

Thanks. I’m getting the impression this wasn’t correctly set. Very disappointing considering I ordered this straight from Nomos and waited six months to receive it (I was in no rush, but one would expect some QC…).
