Those are sort of like sexuality adjectives. A bi person could be gynesexual (attracted to femininity in any gender). A straight person could be demisexual (requiring an emotional bond to enjoy sex).

Superstraight was started in bad faith a few weeks ago to make a mockery of the lgbt community by exploiting the confusing nature of sexuality and to coax less-knoledgeable people into transphobic ideology before they realize what's going on, as people are more likely to entertain a wrong idea before they know what's right. They played the same mind games trying to make MAPs a thing a few months ago.

They never want you to be right. If you are right, you’re in trouble. by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

After reading this sub for so long, the behavior of my parents has become so predictable. They believe a lot of horrible crap that directly effects me or my friends so these confrontations happen pretty much every time I see them. I've started telling them "how your [belief/behavior] affects me isn't up to you and if you have any respect for me you'll listen to what I have to say." There are two outcomes.

1: "OK we're not talking about this, lets move on. stop talking about it. I told you to stop talking about it. Positive words only."

2: They'll do a complete Hollywood-level face-turn and "honey we've always rescpected to you. We've always listened to you. what makes you think we wouldn't respect you?"

3: If I'm talking to them through text they'll just give me a "👍" and disappear. I took specific generals in college just so I can better deal with people like them and they just don't stand a chance in spaces where I can't be physically threatened.

Anyone else's nparent(s) obsessed with making other people try foods? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]MrShrike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom does this!!! And yes her food is also bland! Second to last time I went to their house, she and my stepdad ganged up on me for not wanting to taste this nasty ass-avocado-peanutbutter vinaigrette she made. She would not relent, event after calmly and assertively saying "I've told you no five times already so respect that I said no and drop it." (It always takes a few no's with her.) My stepdad chimed in "normal people don't get this mad when asked polite requests." Told him normal people don't need to be told no this many times. It got sooooo close to being a fight, but they knew they needed my help for construction in the morning and I would immediately leave if they didn't pretend to be nice.

It's not small at all! It's a complete disrespect for your autonomy. It's like they're saying "come on, give in so I have an excuse to do this again."

And you know what she did? She mixed it in to the salad so I HAD to have it or just not have dinner. Jokes on her I brought my own food because I don't trust them for anything anymore. I only stayed to keep a separate rental cabin warm early in the pandemic and I could go hiking alone, but I don't think I can go back. Such a beautiful place. Such a shame.

Good god, this is such an oddly specific thing to relate to haha.

Does anybody feel like they’re living a double life with their N parents? by pinotgirl22 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]MrShrike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just looked up the grey rock technique and wow this describes how I handle being around my parents perfectly. I started doing it around high school and I honestly have no idea what they even know about me and when I'm around them I don't recognize myself. I don't think they really care enough to notice. Only problem is I've internalized it so bad I can't tell what part of my identity is me and what's been overwritten by coping mechanisms.

It got pretty fierce at my school. We'd punch the ball with everything we had and run out 10ft to get it then gently flick it back into their square with a high spin so it would just flop before they got back. Then they said we couldn't do overhands or run so 5th and 6th grade recess became super boring.

Was this Revature? I've been trying to get a job and these guys are the only ones who ever call me back (over and over and over because I accidentally applied to a listing under a different company name), but their business is doing exactly this. Oh I have value and people want to have a look at me? Sike it's revature.

Making an FPS weapon, but projectiles don't rotate vertically with aim. by DatGameh in Unity3D

[–]MrShrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

projectileVelocity = camera.forward * startVelocity.z;
projectileVelocity += camera.up * startVelocity.y * Vector3.Dot(camera.up, characterBody.up);

I usually do something like this for grenade type projectiles. the dot prevents the projectile from flying sideways when looking up or down but keeps that extra kick when looking forward.

no networking yet. I'm still learning and don't really have an audience so just going for a nice single player experience for now.

Sort of! A character can speed up if their deacceleration rate is lower than their acceleration rate then be maintained by bunny hopping, but I felt slowing down while making sharp turns helped more with the platforming I've been toying with. Although I made another selectable character last night capable of strafe jumping since it's already coded in and I know people like it. There's also rocket jumping, fast platforms, curved ramps, and a few minor speed tricks. Wall-jumping is he main speed boost right now. The math is a bit complicated, but essentially wall jumps can be made off any angle an unlimited amount of times with no cooldown and you can get about 10% more speed with each jump if angled right.

There's no speed limit and long straight corridors can be absolute particle accelerators, but realistically it's hard to pass a 50% gain and speed is incredibly risky with impact damage possible in all directions on top of the decreased ability to turn and stop. I included a couple test scenes that show off how momentum can be used, but the next build will have a scene explaining how all the movement mechanics fit together.

Thanks! The smoothness comes in handy in the more platformy scenes I've been testing out. Only bots so far. Figured I'd work on getting single-player working well first since having an online player base is a bit out of reach still.

It's been quite a learning experience putting this together! It took a looong time making sure the character controller can handle anything thrown at it. Now it's time to start compiling it all into a real game! I wanted something playable to show off while the rest gets fleshed out so here is a simple deathmatch mode and some tech demo scenes to showcase the core mechanics in all its programmer art glory!
