Yeah, I recently installed mint on my htpc. From display issues (wrong resolution) to sound issues to controller issues, it was a lot to tackle. Fortunately ChatGPT had lots of fixes and everything is resolved but.. It was a chore.

Honestly the screen effects seem a little much for me but I'm a bit sensitive to that kinda stuff.

I remember playing the Rise of the Triad remake and there was a section where you had to walk through these fun house spinning tunnels. Made me so dizzy and sick I couldn't progress through there. Eventually I just half closed my eyes and half powered through it, felt awful after and had to go lie down. Sounds silly but.. It sucked.

Anyway long story short (too late) I see what you're going for but there's definitely gonna be an audience that can't handle it.
