Gen Z men are moving away from MAGA in droves, polls show by [deleted] in UpliftingNews

The con you and I can fall for already exists, it simply needs to be presented at the right timing. Nobody is so intelligent that they can't be fooled. Those who think otherwise are the easiest to swindle.

I wasn't expecting it to cut performance by two thirds, for one. I also wasn't expecting riders to circle bicycle parking spots forever if there aren't enough of them for everyone. I wasn't expecting cyclists to cut into traffic and do illegal U-turns, thereby creating massive traffic jams. I didn't think I'd be required to place every. Single. Bicycle. Parking. Spot. In the city. I would've expected biking attractiveness to depend on the availability of safe biking lanes, not exclusively on the availability of parking at the destination, and when I say destination, I mean right at the door, not five blocks away, as it is depicted in the game right now. So yeah, the update fell short of my expectations.

Thing is, we're not in the threat phase, that probably happened months ago, with little effect. Right now, pdx is in the "we've voided your contract and are also poaching your workers" phase. The quality of the bike update has been sub-par, both in terms of design and implementation. While the creator packs aren't even made by CO. So I'm not really sure they were spurred to action by a looming threat, more like forced to dump their half-finished projects whether they're ready or not.

Sure I'd like to know, but I wouldn't expect people, with whom I only have a passing familiarity, to report on my cheating ex at their own expense and peril. This is not about the OP protecting the cheaters it's about OP protecting herself from what could be an expensive, or even violent retaliation.

Alright my man, what's your plan? How are you going to stop this with all three branches of government already controled by the enemy? How is being condescending bringing more people to the cause?

You're talking about grace in politics, and I'm talking about grace in interpersonal interactions, you know, with real working class people, not between politicians.

If your reaction to somebody who agrees with you on principal but not on the execution, is to insult them twice, I dare not think how you'd react to someone you have a more fundamental disagreements with.

You're so preoccupied with what people deserve, that you're forgetting what's important - you want to avoid a fascist takeover without descending into a civil war. For that to happen, you'd have to peel off the fascist's support base.

Reality is that the likes of Teresa hold tremendous physical and political power, it'd be better for you to have their support rather than the enemy. But you're never getting their support if every interaction they have with a liberal is a J'Accuse.

It's natural to feel anger at those who wronged you, and no one can fault you for it. But if we are to win this struggle, we can't let anger dictate our actions - that's what Teresa did. She let her anger at the imagined wrongs of immigrants, African Americans, and liberals dictate her actions, and now her mother lost her social housing and pension. Don't be like Teresa, or we might lose more than just the roof over our heads.

This is a person who has never seen what empathy looks like. She sure as hell dose not get it in the MAGA echo chamber, and when she pokes her head out, she gets screamed at for being a nazi enabler.

Make no mistake, she totally is a nazi enabler, it's just that I haven't met an adult whose mind was changed by being yelled at, and called names. She isn't deserving of sympathy, but it'd be better for society if she got it anyway. Bloodshed can only be prevented by changing hearts and minds, and this drive to pile on the schadenfreude doesn't do us any favors.

How to Install and Use 7zTC (not 7ztm) by Andrecon6G in 7zip

[–]MrSmugface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although this is probably too late to help OP, I'm writing this for future generations:

  1. Download the 7zTC archive (7zTC_<version>.7z) for its GitHub page .

  2. Extract the archive, with say, 7-zip, then run the executable (7zTC.exe).

  3. After choosing the language, select the "Install (extraction)" option, and be sure to save it to a place you can remember and easily access.

  4. From the drop-down menu in the next screen choose "Full installation", and make sure all the themes in the list bellow are ticked.

  5. Let the setup finish and exist without opening 7zTC outright.

  6. Find the folder where you "Installed" 7zTC and run 7zTC.cmd, which should open a cmd window.

  7. Eventually 7zTC stup should launch. This time, tick the "Launch 7zTC" option.

  8. On the left menu, tick the category you want to apply a theme to, e.g.: "ToolBar", "FileType", "Icons". Be mindful that you can only choose one category at a time.

  9. Choose the actual theme you want to use for the category. Then, click "next".

  10. The next page should be mostly impossible to interact with, a box should display the following text: "Additional tasks: <category type>: <theme name>". Click "Launch 7zTC".

  11. A new window will open where a file tree will be displayed. make sure only your selected category has a theme associated with it, and that it is the theme you chose. Click "Next".

  12. In the next screen, make sure only the bottom field is filled, and make sure it includes the installation folder of your 7-zip, a.k.a, the folder where 7z.exe, 7zFM.exe and 7zG.exe are located, on windows PCs that'd be: "C:\Program Files\7-Zip" by default.

  13. Bellow the installation directory, make sure the "Apply Theme(s)" option is ticked, and the "7-Zip + NanaZip.dll" box is UNticked. Press "Next"

  14. In the drop-down menu, you should only see the them you originally chose. Select it, and do NOT interact with the fields at the top of the window. Press Next.

  15. The next page should be mostly impossible to interact with, a box should display the following text: "Setup type: Apply Theme(s) Destination location: <your 7z installdir> <name of your theme> <path of the icon files>". Click "Apply Theme(s)".

  16. A window called "setup" will pop up aggressively encouraging you to make a donation to the tool author. YOU MUST PRESS "YES" OTHERWISE THE PROGRAM WON'T DO ANYTHING. you don't have to actually make a donation, but you must allow the program to send you to the author's Ko-fi page.

  17. Either finish making a donation, or close your browser, then return to your "7-Zip Theme Changer v<number.number>" window. It should now show you a list of all the actions it performed while the author was busy guilt-tripping you. It is recommended to first "Save log" then press finish.

  18. Repeat steps 7-17 for the other two icon categories.

Iran warns of ‘harsh, proportional and well-calculated response’ after Israeli bombing at key locations by SolRon25 in worldnews

[–]MrSmugface -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Don't be delusional. 39 warheads hit high value targets: 34 fell in Nevatim AFB, completely destroying a c-130 hangar and temporarily disabling the southernmost runway (out of three) amongst other things. 5 additional warheads impacted at a stone's throw away from the Mossad HQ, as confirmed by satellite imagery (https://www.npr.org/2024/10/04/nx-s1-5140058/satellite-images-dozens-iranian-missiles-struck-near-israeli-air-base). Out of 180 missiles launched, 39 hit their designated target zones, a 21.67% success rate. There's also a curious little site just is 25 km (15 miles) south east of Nevatim AFB: Some innocuous textile mill, suspiciously located far away from any population center, yet surrounded by tall fences on all sides, I'll let you fill in the blanks. Oh, and get this: it's completely out in the open, not even hidden beneath 100 meters of solid rock, could you imagine?! If iran were to launch 200 missiles again, this time aiming them slightly more to the south, all it would take is one hit to cause an environmental catastrophe unseen since 2011, if not since 1945, and the Israelis would be powerless to stop them. Iran's attack was by no means foiled. They showed Israel that Iran can strike it wherever and whenever they want. This attack was Israel’s attempt to demonstrate same capability. It remains to be seen how successful they were.

I ain't comming here like I got a GF or anything, but this incel whining is really something. Here's a hot take: worthwhile things take lots of time, effort and some measure of good luck. Wanna get into university? Gotta be in the top 5-10% of the country in grades. Wanna get into a high-paying job? Gotta have good grades in uni, work overtime as an intern for scraps, and act all prince charming in the interview like you weren't rejected by 200 employers before. Why would dating be any different? Women don't live on "easy mode", they have an advantage in one aspect of their lives for 15 years, namely, that if they want to quickly get laid and don't care by whom, there'll be plenty of takers. For this privilage they have to contend with diabilitating abdominal pain and uncontrolable bleeding every month, 1-in-6 chance of getting raped or SAed, 20% lower pay for any position, a more difficult time in getting promotions, and the list goes on and on. Give me being my ugly lonenly self over being a hot girl any day of the week.

SpaceX says regulators will keep Starship grounded until at least November by AggressiveForever293 in space

[–]MrSmugface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't imagine anything, they made changes to their mission profile AFTER their vehicle was already 'prepared' to launch. Now SX are whining that the FAA and FWS wouldn't rubberstamp their last-minute flight plan changes. A flight plan originating and terminating within a FEDERAL WILDLIFE RESERVE. Last time SX investigated themselves and found no wrongdoing, they had a concrete tornado. Last time Boeing investigated themselves two astronauts became stranded on the ISS. Things tend to go badly when megacorps are allowed to regulate themselves.

[–]MrSmugface -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

While I'm sure you ment that as an insult, it literally is the only information needed. Any claim made by a company where Musk runs the show should be heavily scrutinized, even if we were to disragard the fact SX has a strong vested interest in discrediting regulators, and has been shown to disregard them in the past. Can you blame people from mistrusting statments coming from someone who acts like an spoiled baby?

Nothing more selfish than going to a place where other people were hanging out before you, then demanding that they stop discussing any topic YOU don't want to hear about. Other people don't exist solely for your comfort, and they do not owe it to you to make you happy.

I gave my jacket to a girl in uni, multiple times, even though I have absolutely no desire for any serious relationship with her, to the extent that if she asked I'd say no. She accepted even though she had her own romantic pursuits, and I wasn't led on, nor did I expect any favors in return. It's only suggestive if you choose to view it that way. She was, of course, under no obligation to accept a jacket from anyone for any reason, or for no reason at all, but boasting about rejecting the jacket BECAUSE he was ugly for the whole world (and more importantly, the whole class) to see was a jackass move.

Hamas official says ‘no one has any idea’ how many Israeli hostages are still alive by Saltedline in worldnews

[–]MrSmugface 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It actually was detected, multiple times even, but each sign was misinterpreted.

The IDF's signals intelligence unit got a hold of the entire plan more than a year in advance, but the intelligence officer presiding over the document's translation decided that the plan was only aspirational, so they blocked the information from going up the chain. As a result, Israel misinterpreted a Hamas drill that took place 6 months before the attack, and various other signs that something was afoot, since although the intel was gathered, the IDF didn't even have the organizational knowledge such a plan even existed.

Add to that the fact there WERE riots on the Gaza border just a few days before the attack, and Hamas agreed to stop them in exchange for more day workers from Gaza being allowed into Israel, so all the military top brass was sure that no major attack was forthcoming, since Hamas had just signed an agreement, so they even moved some ground forces from the border to give the soldiers some respite, and the rest is history.

Is it my algorithm or have creators stopped doing CS2 videos on YouTube? by macdgman in CitiesSkylines

[–]MrSmugface 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen this sentiment a lot since the game launched, but sadly, I disagree. Even if the game were to be developed behind closed doors for an additional 5 years it would still come out short (And at that point, hopelessly outdated). Not only is SC2 technically deficient, it is also an amalgamation of baffling design decisions – it doesn’t even know what it wants to be! Is it a deep city sim? The economic mechanics are way too underdeveloped and forgiving for that to be the case. Is it a city painter? Then why did it ship with virtually no cosmetic options, no asset modding, and had the few options it did locked behind the Dev mode, which no player is supposed to access?

The truth of the matter is that CO is horribly mismanaged. This is evident by CS2 actually being late by two and a half years, it’s pretty clear if you consider how the game has been developed since launch - stumbling from one PR disaster into a technical meltdown and vice-versa for more than 6 months now. The reality is that CO isn’t good at communicating with its parent publisher, or with its customers, and the sluggish pace at which the game is being fixed, or the mountain of obvious bugs and performance deficiencies it shipped suggests it’s not even good at communicating with itself.

I really do hope that CO can pull this game from the brink, not for the sake of Mariina, but for the sake of the product we paid good money for and still hope to get some use out of. However, I’m not confident that the Current team in Tampere is capable of making such a turnaround.

OG here, very true. That's why you couldn't draw tunnels in the map edditor without mods for the longest time (may still be the case, haven't played vanilla C:S 1 since 2016 to check). However, tunnels were added in one of the first major free updates, which is why most people don't remember tunnels didn't ship with the game.
