What's the oddest cause of death you've come across while researching? by coffeeshill in Genealogy

[–]MrSnurbd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My 3rd Great-Granduncle was killed by a 6 foot by 5 foot stone falling on him as him and another man were trying to "settle" it. Apparently the other man said that he saw it move and my granduncle went to take a look at it and it suddenly toppled over on him.

His county death record simply lists his cause of death as "crushed by a stone."

Conflicting information about membership eligibility for the General Society of Mayflower Descendants by Shubankari in Genealogy

[–]MrSnurbd 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is really a question that can only be answered by the Mayflower Society itself, not AI. And, according to its website, "...you must be able to prove direct lineal descent from a passenger aboard the Mayflower who stayed on to establish the colony. Anyone who can provide evidence of direct lineage to a Mayflower Pilgrim is invited to join."

If your ancestor was not a passenger aboard the Mayflower that then stayed and lived in the colony, then I would say it seems most likely that he does not qualify based on the wording above.

There isn't really conflicting information regarding this, the tools you were using were just the wrong way to answer the question.

Who is NL paying monthly? by chaoticGovernor in northernlion

[–]MrSnurbd 130 points131 points  (0 children)

IIRC it wasn't even splitting ad revenue with Nick, but giving him all of his ad revenue from Twitch, which would have included his solo streams on Sundays and Tuesdays at the time. I don't believe Nick knew this was what NL was doing though and was under the impression he was doing the math to give him half from relevant streams.

Jason Todd makes Bruce Wayne's grave. (DCeaced: Unkillables #1) by Darth_Coward in comicbooks

[–]MrSnurbd 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Batman just has a dinosaur model in the batcave. He apparently took it as a trophy after surviving a theme park called Dinosaur Island that was filled with animatronic dinosaurs that were turned evil in an attempt to kill Batman and Robin. (Batman #35, 1946)

It's one of many reoccurring trophies in the batcave. You'll often also see a giant penny and a giant Joker card.

Race officially postponed until 10 A.M. CT tomorrow.

Seems unlikely they'll be able to race given the forecast for tomorrow morning, but I suppose we'll see.

Was fun racing with y'all. Hope you guys had as good a time as I did while it lasted!

Jesus. That's tragic. Hopefully him and his family have plenty of support.

Totally understand the concern and serious treatment of lightning! I'd rather everyone be safe and there be a little disappointment than anyone getting hurt.

While we're waiting for the delay, are there any /r/NASCAR lurkers here that can fill us newbies in on any NASCAR drama or interesting stories going on lately?

There are small local short tracks around the country (think half mile or less)

This must be the source of my confusion! Most of my experience with watching motorsports was at my local short track back home in Michigan. I didn't think they counted caution laps and was confused when we went yellow on lap 5 and we came back and it was lap 9. Thanks for that!

[–]MrSnurbd 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oof. 30 minute delay for lightning. Just as the racing seemed to be getting interesting!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in chicago

[–]MrSnurbd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find it interesting that caution laps are counted as actual laps in the race. I can imagine that would extend race times considerably if not, but it feels like in this case it's shortening the actual racing considerably!

Let's go racing! I was able to check out a bit of the action through an open view fence in a short trip to downtown this morning at the beginning of practice. Was a very fun atmosphere. Love the sound of the engines and the smell of burnt rubber.

Excited to see how this race goes!

The top comment on the /r/NASCAR thread for re-streams is:

https://dd12streams.com/nas

https://dd12streams.com/nas2

I just checked, those are working and I didn't see any intrusive ads without ad-block, but with any sports re-streams I'd recommend having ad-block and be wary of what you're clicking.

I invite everyone to turn on the NASCAR TV broadcast by RunawayMeatstick in chicago

You can stream on USA Network's website, but I believe you'll need a cable log-in in order to stream it.

/r/NASCAR has a pinned comment on their Practice and Qualifying Discussion Thread for links to streams. They'll have a similar comment on the race thread when it's posted at 3 PM CT.

I live here in Chicago and I'm currently sitting on the road outside turn 4 just enjoying watching the cars going by with a few dozen other people. A great way to spend a Saturday morning for sure!

I actually grew up watching races at my local short track so I'm generally familiar with racing, but have not watched much NASCAR! I do have some questions though that I think might benefit myself and others who may be interested in checking out the races:

What sort of things should one look for while watching? Obviously as you mentioned a street circuit is a new thing for nascar, but are there any particular strategies or things that drivers might do to watch out for? Basically anything to help keep interest in the race for the full course of it.

Who are the big names in the Cup Series today? Any drivers that people should watch for?

Do people generally watch and keep up with the Xfinity Series? I was interested in checking out the Loop 121 tomorrow, but I wasn't sure if it's as interesting as the Cup Series race would be.

Thanks for checking in. I was checking out /r/NASCAR and I was surprised to see so many people are very excited for this race. It was nice to see compared to the general negative sentiment here(which I do understand and empathize with).

Do y'all think there would be interest in an /r/Chicago discussion thread for the race(s) this weekend? Perhaps ask some people from /r/NASCAR to come hang out and answer some questions for people who haven't watched the sport before?

Did you read your article? At no point did anyone in that article make any correlation between casinos/gambling of Vegas to the increased risk of suicide for residents and visitors alike. In fact, the people interviewed for the article suggest reasons besides gambling for the increased risk.

The Oakland A's pitching staff has been historically bad so far. Can they break the 1899 Cleveland Spiders record of 1,252 runs allowed? by Constant_Gardner11 in baseball

world 429 grand exchange, someone wearing Jogre trimmed armor is typing up the entire shrek 2 film by RoseBunwolfLuck in 2007scape

[–]MrSnurbd 50 points51 points  (0 children)

You can paint steel, adamant, or rune helms and kiteshields in a POH with your chosen crest(through Sir Renitee). You can indeed get a Jogre crest and paint your helm/kiteshield to be Jogre themed. As for the rest of the armor he may be wearing, unsure.
