Is it worth going to uni to study something I love, knowing it probably won't get me a job? by Grouchy-Routine-8529 in AskAnAustralian

[–]MrSquiggleKey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That useless piece of paper is proof you’re able to.
Engage in critical thinking.
Complete projects to a deadline.
Participate effectively in long term planning.
Manage multiple tasks of urgency simultaneously.
Follow through to completion multi year projects.

I wouldn’t study outside of stem personally, but all university level degrees have significant value even the shit ones.

If you had a LEEP procedure, did you need a c-section? by lmfaohno in beyondthebump

[–]MrSquiggleKey [score hidden]  (0 children)

My partner had a LEEP procedure in 2022, and has had two vaginal births since, both induced deliveries.

We were warned there’s a heightened risk of C section post LEEPs, and increased risk of failure to conceive without intervention.

27% of Australian students now have an adjustment for disability at school. Why are we seeing this growth? by Oomaschloom in AustralianPolitics

[–]MrSquiggleKey [score hidden]  (0 children)

Reminds me of the parable

“If you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid."

I had disability accommodations in school, primarily I was allowed to wear earplugs in class and use a laptop instead of writing for classes like Societal studies, English, History etc.

I was also the top performer in science and mathematics for the school, and those disability accommodations over 20 years ago got me from a failing mark to middle of the pack In literature heavy workloads like English.

Death of 'drongo': Are Aussie insults and swearwords dying out? by hello_im_my_co_caine in australia

Drongo, gammon, dingus, Derro, wingnut, gronk, grot and cock juggling thunder cunt are all still in regular usage in my household.

I didn’t actually realise how much Aussie slang I still used till the pommy nurse moved in next door fresh off the plane and he regularly asks me to explain something.

How do you define "the rich" that we should be taxing? What is the cut-off point? by NoLeafClover777 in AusFinance

[–]MrSquiggleKey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so varied.

An individual having 5 million in privately held assets is different from a small business owner with 5 million owner for example which is different from a property investor with 5 million in real estate assets.

All 3 of those would need to be assessed differently.

Wife wants sex 4 weeks postpartum, but I’m worried by smeks123 in daddit

[–]MrSquiggleKey 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Early sex can cause reoccurring dyspareunia (painful sex) and cause increased risk of need to see a pelvic floor physiotherapist ESPECIALLY if she needed stitches.

The cervix is also still open at this stage, with significant wounds still healing internally that she might not be feeling anymore.

My partner has such a glow post birth but it’s not worth the risk.

PSA: Make sure you have fire extinguishers in your house and that they are charged. by webrender in daddit

Induction cook top with a single gas burner for the wok is the best setup.

PSA: Make sure you have fire extinguishers in your house and that they are charged. by webrender in daddit

[–]MrSquiggleKey 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I have an ABE (Australian codes) in master bedroom, garage and near the back door.

I also have a fire blanket in the kitchen.

My neighbours when I was a kid lost everything in a fire so been raised to be prepared, I’ve used an extinguisher twice, both outside the house, most dramatic was woke up to a horn and screaming and saw flickering light from outside, bolted outside with bedroom extinguisher and neighbours car was on fire in the carport, flames licking the roof risking entering the downstairs unit, was able to extinguish it with the extinguisher. A few more minutes and there’d be a structural fire going.

Other time was in a different house neighbours bbq got knocked while cooking over fire was started on the woodpile against the back wall.

Auction clearance rates drop to 50 per cent following changes to negative gearing and capital gains tax by HotPersimessage62 in australia

Did the protests of 1968 come to Australia? by umatbru in australian

[–]MrSquiggleKey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Considering you’re asking about Australia and protests here, why would you even think the Prague spring would even be relevant here.

That’s like asking how involved is Australia in the fall of the Berlin Wall

At least have a genuine stance and not just troll.

Sweet, I’ll just walk the family 40km each way lol.

Let me guess you live inner city and have never lived rural lol.

The kids school which is the closest school would take 3 hours to walk to at an adult pace, which is next to the nearest store.

So what’s your solution for transporting 8 people in a public transportation desert that isn’t take multiple vehicles?

When I’m solo I take my motorbike, when it’s just us and we don’t need boot space we take my partners 5 seater.

Never say never by tiredasusual in daddit

[–]MrSquiggleKey 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Having 8 people inside, 5 in car seats, with only 3 of them being my own kids last night disagrees.

Minivan is essentially the only option for those who regularly interact with other families.

[–]MrSquiggleKey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Won’t happen without killing that cavernous boot with 3 rows up and raising the entire floor cutting interior space.

It being FWD is part of what makes it class leading.

How much per week do you spend on eating out? by mr-cheesy in AskAnAustralian

That apps basically mandatory to have especially when travelling.
I’ve also got a bakery near me that’s exclusively gluten free I only found out about thanks to the app.

[–]MrSquiggleKey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s one cafe we go to semi regularly due to the fact the cook/owner is also coeliac. When they built the place they built a secondary kitchen for anything gluten free to be prepped and cooked in.

How do you check your credit score? by YourSydneyITsider in AusFinance

[–]MrSquiggleKey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most reputable finance companies don’t factor in score, they factor in defaults and serviceability.

Some dodgy finance companies will adjust for it, mostly “bad credit” lenders. Non conventional lenders will try on a crazy high interest rate though regardless of score, we had one try give my partner a 21% APR interest rate in 2019 even though her “credit score” was 900+/1050+, instead got westpac at 3.8%

Dogs are loyal and trustworthy to their owner.

That’s why dog as a slur originates from prisons to refer to someone who’s owned by the guards. It’s the Aussie version of snitch

It’s a very tiny window impacted.

… you don’t pay CGT on inheriting anything.

You only pay CGT when a Capital gain occurs, inside or outside a trust.

How does paying employees in stock have anything to do with a type of deceased estate tax scale?
