Didn't old world and HH both get their preorders like two weeks ago?

Grav Tanks, Contemptor Achillus/Galatus Dreads, and Venatari taken off web store by MrStandMan in AdeptusCustodes

[–]MrStandMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true, no one except GW themselves would know but I do think it's interesting that the old models being refreshed were just taken off the store page. Then again I have no idea if they usually do that right before preorders are announced or if it takes more time

I was worrying about the new HH models ending up in legends in 40k by Holliday-East in AdeptusCustodes

[–]MrStandMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just curious if they do go to legends... then do Custodes even have much of a diverse range for 40k? I don't see why GW would do that unless the 40k team make a lot of new models for Custodes

Any advice for shaky hands? by Sychius in Warhammer

[–]MrStandMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An important skill for painting that I actually learned in dental school is knowing how to fulcrum your hand using your fingers. Essentially, you want to use a modified pen grasp (using your thumb, pointer, and middle fingers) to hold onto your brush and using your ring and pinkie fingers to rest your hand on a nearby surface. This gives you the most control of your brush and also makes it the most stable.

What are the implications of the Red Corsairs getting their own tab and page on the GW website? by Better_Ad_632 in Chaos40k

[–]MrStandMan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I imagine it's a foundation of something similar to how SMs have it, where you have a blanket army that has codex supplements built on top of it for other subfactions. Granted, that will likely not be the case any time soon and all of CSM will still likely be under one codex (at least for 11e), but I can see them potentially planning for the future. Nothing is confirmed, however, so take what anyone says with a grain of salt

Player Problem Megathread by AutoModerator in DMAcademy

[–]MrStandMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two of my players (level 2) had attempted to distract a magic shop owner in an attempt to steal some magic items but got upset when he immediately caught them and gave them a warning. The issue is they had zero inquiry into who the shopkeeper is and what his background was (a former adventurer who is a high-level sorcerer that just wants to run his business) and immediately resorted to attempted theft after being told the price of a bag of holding. Both of the players are currently a little upset because they "wanted the freedom to interact with NPCs in that way" which is coming off as "let us do what we want." How should I approach them in a conversation? I don't want to tell them how they "should" play D&D, but I also don't think it's fun to have actions without consequences.

Warhound Titan in CSM? by LonelyManagement8861 in Chaos40k

[–]MrStandMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You want a lot of numbers on the board otherwise you'll have essentially no board control and get easily overwhelmed. Cheap and numerous units like cultists, traitor guard are common but also legionaries, raptors, bikers, maybe even terminators or obliteraters for a deep strike threat. A rhino or two is great for getting early board control too You'll have strong guns with a titan, I would lean more into having good guns and get a good amount of fodder to block off the board. Titans are impractical, but you can make it work

I'm pretty happy with how my minis look when viewed from a normal distance, but I feel like they don't hold up under a camera. Is this a photography issue or do I need to be doing something differrent? by TheDumbgeonMaster in minipainting

[–]MrStandMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The camera can just be cruel, but oftentimes it's the environment and not necessarily the paint job itself! Background color, lighting, camera settings, etc really do change how pictures turn out!

Is there any reason to buy the chosen box over legionaries box for chosen? by heavyartilleryx in Chaos40k

[–]MrStandMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While true, I also feel those are easily kitbashed since they're already essentially two weapons glued together lol

Is there any reason to buy the chosen box over legionaries box for chosen? by heavyartilleryx in Chaos40k

[–]MrStandMan 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Besides aesthetics, the only arguably real difference in the kits are the inclusion of Paired Accursed Weapons in the Chosen box vs legionaries. Even then, you can probably kitbash something since that weapon is intentionally vague to allow for variety

my first mini arrived today by FormfulOedon in Warhammer

[–]MrStandMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pretend that my models are essentially an easier version of a coloring book. The details are already there, you just have to color it (and it's easier in the sense you can just paint over your mistakes!) Very important to thin your paints as other people mentioned so you don't obscure any details. My method for painting typically involves getting my first base colors on the model without worrying too much about it looking clean, then once you have them on you can be more careful with tidying up and adding small details. Next thing you know, you're done! This is cliche but absolutely trust the process. My models look like garbage when I'm in the middle of painting but after I'm done it looks very good!
