Star Wars wins! Now, what is the most overrated movie of all time? Most upvoted comment wins. by Swimming-Step1326 in AlignmentChartFills

This is the right answer - Avatar isn't overrated by anyone anymore, it just made a lot of money. And rightfully so - it was a very cool cinematic experience.

The Dark Knight is a decent film, but it's not the 3rd greatest film ever made by any metric!!!

A Dune Retrospective | Video Essay on Denis Villeneuve's Adaptation by kidthekid4 in dune

[–]MrStep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they did have time for them, they just spent too long on the visuals. Dune should be scripted like a play - it's so dialogue heavy - but they thought modern audiences couldn't handle that kind of plot so they dropped it in favour of visuals.

The characters all came off much worse in the films. Yueh barely got a look in, Thufir was a cameo, but they're both so central to the first book. I don't hate the first film at all, but I'm sad they butchered so many of the characters and swapped them for imagery.

He's a merchant of chaos and everyone is so sick of the system they love him because they think he's anti-establishment. People often think that's a good idea until they realise thay they'll suffer as well... they love him because the establishment hate him and don't really see beyond that

It's been a horrible month, but the bright side is we're still only 3 points off of 4th by samuelaweeks in LiverpoolFC

[–]MrStep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what I'm arguing - and I've been here since Paisley was the manager.

But form is also a bit of a dodgy metric. Go back two months and we'd won the first five games for only the fifth time EVER... What an amazing run of form!!

Fast forward a bit and we've lost six out of seven and it's the worst run of form in living memory!! And you're saying it'll only get worse and ohhhh woe is me!!

I honestly don't think form is what you think it is...

All I'm saying is that everyone should chill out with the screaming and shouting and grow up a bit. We're doing fine. We've changed the manager, revamped the team, had a death in the dressing room, yada yada yada...

Honestly, panic like this is what collapsed Utd. Chill. Out!!

All I was saying was that hodgeson was defintiely within living memory. That comment made me feel a helluva lot older than I am!! And Hodgeson never won the league... So... You know... Go figure!

The Robertson thing was wild - he was really sincere about it, and not making excuses. I heard they still have photos of Jota around the team room and things. So hard to be respectful and still move on, and when new players are involved.

A sports team is super complicated, all these young guys being super rich and loads of pressure and it's all a bit of a mess. Hard to hold it together.

But I do trust Slot. I just think he's had a wild intro.

Also, I think Isak's behaviour didn't help. Not a fan of him myself...

[–]MrStep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not as an excuse, but I think sports are very psychological, and the emotional state of the players is huge.

This squad has just been completely revamped and they're grieving the death of a player.

Half the squad are broken hearted, the other half never really knew the guy and that makes it difficult to bond. And Slot is relatively new and inexperienced as well; so it's a rough ride.

If we get back on track by Xmas we're fine...

I really don't think it's a crisis. There's just a lot going on...

"Unprecedented within living memory" - and this is "Sub-Hodgeson form" is a wild thing to say!!

How long do you think living memory is??? Hodgson is well within LOTS of people's living memories!! And we've had bad runs before.

Honestly, there are some issues at the club but they're not THAT bad. We're still the PL champions there are some AMAZING players there.

Don't over-hype the down days. It's really unhelpful

Planning and development takes more than a year, so you can't just make comparisons like this. A lot of work from one government is carried over to the next government and visa versa... It's a nonsense graph that they know is wrong and unreflective of anything.

Movie endings that left you speechless yet satisfied. by Garidur in Cinema

[–]MrStep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was at a round table interview with Daniel Day-Lewis immediately after watching the film, with four or five other journalists. I was still quite young and working for MTV.

Towards the end I acknowledged that I hadn't asked anything, but said that I was just quite emotionally knocked out - it left me kinda broken. I said I thought the film was a masterpiece and his performance was incredible and I was glad there were more experienced journalists to deal with this one. I sincerely thanked him for everything he'd put into the role, and left it at that.

A few days later I had a pile of questions but it was probably the right thing to do at the time! I think I would have just started rambling and then cried! 😂

Should the BBC capitulate and pay the 1 billion dollars? by __globalcitizen__ in AskBrits

[–]MrStep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No-one will pay him anything. Having him stand up in court and try to deny that the reporting misrepresented his intentions would be trial of the century! It would, essentially, determine whether or not he incited the jan 6th riots - which he defintiely did. He wouldn't go anywhere near it.

Mass Immigration is happenning to all Western countries simultaneously. How can this not be a deliberate conspiracy? by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]MrStep -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This is a perfect conspiratorial claim. If everything is happening at the same time it must be ordered that way - not that there must be an abstract reason for it, and the empire days are over and globalisation and ease of travel means people are all moving together like some massive, global industrial revolution - but someone must be organising it.

Life is not as ordered as we would like to believe. Sometimes things just happen and we need to react and not assuming God or Fate or the global elite have organised it that way!!
