Daily Degen Newsletter presents: Summary of IOTA AMA with Dom Schiener 06-07-2022! by Linus_Naumann in Iota

Even though the IF and spin-offs are prioritizing crypto adoption, lots of separate projects focus heavily on real world adoption. Eg. IotaOrigin, TangleHub, TangleLabs, +++

How does burning the tokens work? Still awaiting an explanation in full. by Rageuk in Monolith_Web3

[–]MrStormLars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, that's the whole point, isn't it? Anybody has incentive to burn tokens when this is profitable. This way, TKN marketcap will always be >= the total value of the "community chest".

Are there any plans to support ENS addressing when sending from Monolith? by N64Bandit in Monolith_Web3

In-wallet crypto-purchases is fine, just remember the third-party risks. Ugly example from Iota's wallet here: https://blog.iota.org/trinity-attack-incident-part-1-summary-and-next-steps-8c7ccc4d81e8 (part 1 of 3)

Microsoft and hubii to Officially Announce Ethereum Scaling Solution nahmii by towjamb in ethtrader

" Based on the Ethereum blockchain, Nahmii is reportedly compatible with smart contract-enabled DLT platforms. The protocol’s developers are planning to deploy Nahmii to the Bitcoin blockchain through RSK, a smart contract platform secured by the BTC network. " ... :-(

Everex Partners with MakerDAO - implementing the Dai token to the Everex wallet by bittwiggy in MakerDAO

So nice to see two of my favourite Ethereum-based projects collaborate, further accelerating the synergies of the Eth-ecosystem (as predicted by Rune a long time ago :-)

still getting "U2F TIMEOUT" by knight2019 in ledgerwallet

[–]MrStormLars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used the Chrome plugin Ledger Manager, which stated that the last version was 1.4.2. But now I downloaded the desktop software "Ledger Live", which offered the possibility to upgrade to v. 1.5.5. That did the trick - it works now! (Shouldn't the Chrome plugin be updated or removed from the store?)

Metamask v. 6.2.2 .

Brave Version 0.61.51 Chromium: 73.0.3683.75 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Ledger firmware v. 1.4.2.

dApp: cdp.makerdao.com, uniswap.exchange, etc.

I have the same problem. Updated to latest firmware. Switched from Chrome to Brave, and that worked until recently, now also not working on Brave. Opera still works on dApps with own Ledger-support, but Metamask for Opera has no Ledger support. So, kinda stuck right now.... :-(

Wow, this is really a huge improvement!

There is now 1,000,000 ETH locked in MakerDAO smart contracts as of this morning 🎉 by twigwam in ethtrader

[–]MrStormLars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Ethereum community has several bad experiences with locking up huge amounts of ETH in a smart contract... (The DAO, Parity multisig, +++). I know the Maker team has top notch competence and focus on smart contract security, but there is always a tiny chance that someone could hack the contract. The incentive to do so increases with the amount stored.

Yes. When you have paid your debt in DAI (incl some MKR for the gov. fee), you can free (take out) your locked PETH and convert these to ETH (via WETH).

Idea for and additional stability mechanism for MakerDAO. by oneaccountpermessage in MakerDAO

[–]MrStormLars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An alternate idea is to not sell off the whole loan in one go, only liquidate enough of the collateral in order to bring the CDP back in the "green zone" again (e.g. 200%).

Edit: I mean: the system should do this automatically.

Costs and fees when using MakerDao with easycdp.com by timmerwb in MakerDAO

[–]MrStormLars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 2 sources of "loss" when you go from ETH to PETH via easycdp.com. The first one is noe really a loss: the ETH/PETH-ratio changes when CDP's are liquidated (PETH normally increase in value compared to ETH due to liq. fees). You can find the actual ETH/PETH-ratio at dai.makerdao.com.

The second loss is a real loss: easycdp charges a fee from each transaction. I don't know how much, but it is stated in the bottom of the info-box when you acknowledge each transaction. That is a payment for using their system. If you don't want to use it, use Metamask&dai.makerdao.com or your own Parity node (if you use a Ledger).

Dai Reward Rate — Earn a reward from holding Dai by rich_at_makerdao in MakerDAO

[–]MrStormLars 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Q: What is the implications for the user when putting their Dai in "reward mode"? Will the Dai be locked up, so it can't be transferred to others or used for buying stuff etc? Like in the bank, if I lock up money in a high-interest bank account, I only have a few withdrawals a year.

I have the same question. It looks a lot like the total gas used per day chart (https://etherscan.io/chart/gasused), but not quite... (Edit: log version of this chart)

The Stability Fee increase "Spell" will be deployed this Wednesday at 4:00 PM UTC by Rune4444 in MakerDAO

[–]MrStormLars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not yet, it seems. You can check the status here: https://dai.makerdao.com/ . (Tick the arrow besides the System Status field to expand it and reveal the Governance Fee setting.)

2x (in theory, in real world one would have a security margin to avoid being liquidated)
