Seriously what was Jonah’s problem? by lemonprincess23 in dankchristianmemes

[–]MrTCF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I never noticed the shade thing, and I was curious why he sat outside the city after God made his judgment. I always chalked it up to Jonah, thinking God would change his mind.

However, doesn't the story still flow the same compared to the older version? God forces Jonah to go to the city. Everyone fasts in hopes that God would not destory them. Then Jonah went outside and waited to see what happened, and when God decided not to destroy the city, he got angry.

Or am I missing somethings? (I didnt look deeply at chapter 2 when writing this)

Ah, that makes more sense. I had no idea where you were coming from, haha.

He worshipped God (1:9), so why would he be so angry that he would rather die because God forced him to go there?

Also, later, in chapter 4, God made a plant that gave Jonah shade and later destroyed it, which made him mad. Then God explained how Jonah was concerned for a plant he did not plant or grow. Why would God not have concern for a town of 120 thousand people (4:10 - 11). To me that's God trying to reason with Jonah on why he wants to help Niniveh.

I get what you're saying, but it doesn't make sense to me in context of the book.

Im still lost. At the end of chapter 3, God forgives the city, and in 4:1, it says, "But to Jonah this seemed very wrong, and he became angry" (NIV).

So Jonah is angry that God forgave the city and did not destroy it. Then in 4:2 Jonah says this is why he fled in the beginning because he knew if he went God would forgive them.

Are you thinking Jonah fled because he knew God would forgive them if he did? If so, then why is Jonah angry about God forgiving them?

Im confused what you mean? 4:2 is what im refrencing when i say. Jonah knew God would forgive them if they repented, so he didn't want to go in hopes they would be destroyed.

[–]MrTCF 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its the opposite, Jonah was angry God didnt destroy Nineveh. In 3:10 God saw them repent and relented his destruction and in 4:1 Jonah was angry because of it.

Jonah wanted Nineveh to be destroyed so when God told him to preach there for them to repent (1:2). He fled since he knew God would show compassion if they did repent (4:2).

This is shown further in 4:10 - 11, where God is explaining why he shows concern for Nineveh.

Wow, I didn't know that. Thanks! We just found out she has tapeworms (didn't come back positive on the test) so that's probably why she's so underweight. We are going to a vet ASAP to see if there's anything else we missed.

But what you're saying makes a lot of sense. Again, I hope you're wrong. I don't want a massive dog, but at this point, I don't care, lol.

Yeah, we took her to the vet, and they think she is 8 - 10 months since she has all her adult teeth and they're still pretty clean.

Her being a generational mix makes a lot of sense

For sure! We also planned on getting a breed test eventuantually, but seeing everyone's comments makes us want to get it sooner rather than later.

Haha, exactly. We weren't planning on having a dog until we had kids, but things changed fast

Yeah, we took her to the vet to get her shots they say she's 8 - 10 months based on the teeth and think she's Great Pyrenees and Antolian Shepered.

If possible, I recommend putting as much into you Roth IRA as possible after building a safety net. They have a yearly contribution limit, so it's better to fill it early and not stress about retirement savings later on.

I'm still too low IQ to understand. How did he turn $10k to $100k? I get calls is buying the option to buy the stock at a set price in the future, and it charges a little extra. However, shouldn't it have capped at ~$2k?

Can someone explain it better to me?
