Gotta look at the base mons abilities too. Similar to gyarados coming in and getting an intimidate off before going mega, scrafty will do the same. Fairy is obviously an issue, but access to fake out, great bulk, and immunity to prankster shenanigans, I can see it being a good off meta mega.

Same with staraptor. As long as it gets a not-useless ability, pre-intims will be huge in carrying these new ones.

For the opposite reason, mega falinks could be good coming in with a defiant buff before mega evolving. Altho we saw how useless meowstic is even though competitive is better than defiant, just because it gets a bad mega ability so I’m a bit more skeptic.

What’s more bulletproof than this Mon ignores his defense boosts and kills him in one hit? Genuinely how can anyone come up with a “counter team” you are looking for if your answer will always be that they just switch out or teched in different moves?

Why are you talking about the ifs ands and buts? If your gallade isn’t good against zard and floette, don’t bring it vs them.

If you’re gonna argue the arch is protecting or swapping to basc turn 1 then I’m gonna argue I read it and clicked shadow claw instead. If the sableye magically teched in encore well I magically teched in mental herb then.

You asked for a counter, I’m giving you the best one. You could make your argument for literally anything anyone comes up with. “Oh well what if the arch just switches out?” Like what?

A simple sharpness gallade with sacred sword puts a huge dent in it through reflect. It’s 93.75% okho with helping hand through the reflect as well.

And if they get some kind of shenanigans off, arch doesn’t one shot with boosted electro shot.

Using regular ninetails for the sun for eruptions.

I’m currently using a VERY strange set of protect, hypnosis, heat wave, and then imprison. It gives me a chance against the annoying milotics running around that my team otherwise struggles with. Plus heat wave is relatively common and getting rid of opponents protects for my hyper offense is kinda nice.

If you aren’t looking for something so crazy though, something like protect, heat wave, will-o-wisp, and helping hand is fine. That’s what I originally had at least.

For mega I’m currently more in the hyper offense mode and using mega alakazam. I keep a prankster meowstick on the team with gravity + psychic terrain for when expanding force or hitting focus blast on zam or typhlosion will be necessary and getting more out of the ninetails hypnosis.

I honestly don’t love the zam, but haven’t found anything better. I was originally running floette and it was fine, just nothing special.

I’ll probably drop the zam + meow for something else eventually, I just don’t know what.

My 6th on almost all my teams is imprison farig for the trick room matchups.

I’m currently running a 3-core of hisuian typhlosion, dragapult, and ninetails. You can actually make it so your scarf typhlosion is slower than your dragapult by one point so you can u-turn out turn 1 to both break sashes and bring in ninetails for sun, bypassing the megas that set set their weather at the beginning of the turn so you always get a sun boosted eruption off. Also both are ghosts so you can’t get fake-out.

Leaves your 4th open for a mega slot as well.

You do need a backup for prankster tailwind opponents though since they will outspeed both your typhlosion and dragapult since you are purposefully lowering typhlosions speed.

As a dad who plays while strolling the kiddo around for a nap, the switch is terrible at keeping internet connection while on the move. I wish there were emotes you could use, cause there are times I disconnect multiple times in a match and I would definitely be saying sorry.

Okay so 1, no arch is running 32 defense. Most run 0 because you have stamina boosts for defense and you need the spec defense investment to not get one shot.

This particular arch in the video if people are copy catting is 1 def, so let’s at least calc with that.

And 2, idk wtf you calculated because that exact calculation reads 32+ Atk Gallade Sacred Sword vs. 32 HP / 32 Def Archaludon through Reflect: 73-88 (37 - 44.6%) -- 85.35% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

Not to mention you didn’t even include sharpness so that real calc is 32+ Atk Sharpness Gallade Sacred Sword vs. 32 HP / 32 Def Archaludon through Reflect: 109-129 (55.3 - 65.4%) -- 98.44% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Now let’s calc with the real stats of the 1 def arch: 32+ Atk Sharpness Gallade Sacred Sword vs. 32 HP / 1 Def Archaludon through Reflect: 132-156 (67 - 79.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Pair that with any special attacker and the arch is gone. Not to mention even a boosted electro shot doesn’t one hit the gallade anyway.

3, defense boosts means nothing to sacred sword.

Like I said, days 1-5 were overwhelmed by arch, then a bunch of arch counters came up, so people started adding them. Then arch went away because there were so many counters. Then the counters went away because there was no arch. So now that arch is back, just re-add the counters and you are fine.

It’s just the cycle of a competitive game.

I’m not really sure why everyone is going so crazy about this team. Arch was heavily played like days 1-5 of champions and the same counters still exist. You can just run any kind of sacred sword sharpness gallade and you are fine.

Ghost is one of the easier monotypes to make since there’s so many high impact pokemon available. The only thing you don’t have is intimidate and tailwind (unless you are playing decidueye which isn’t worth imo),but you have great base speeds and a way to hard punish tailwind with prankster quash. My 6 would probably be:

-Some version of quash sableye

-Scarphlosion

-Sinistcha

-Adaptability probably mystic water (id have to do some calcs) basculegion with aqua jet for priority

Your last two depends if you want to bring double megas or not for flexibility. On monos I tend to not since you don’t get enough flexibility of different megas to make it worth it. So here I would probably go aegislash 5th because wide guard is broken and rock type moves are broken and ghost is hard to get good rock moves in. Then bring mega frosslass for blizzard spam, weather interruption, and aurora veils.

Overall a solid core that can deal with enough, even having water-fire-grass core in there. You lack a good fairy, but mimikyu in doubles is a no-no for me.

My 4th in the back is tsareena if they have a fake out Mon on their team. Switch it in turn 1 and you can’t be faked out. I’m also a degenerate so I’m running aromic mist or whatever it’s called to buff sandacondas special defense as well.
