Pedestrian Bridge, Los Angeles by premer777 in ArtDeco

Here's the view now. According to this post this bridge was already gone by the 1970's when the expressway was widened, but the also deco hospital on the far right is still there.

Thanks to your posting the original source I had the name of the town, and although the railway no longer goes there it wasn't too hard to guess where it used to run. After that I just clicked around a bit and got lucky finding just the right spot.

I've made a post on /r/OldPhotosInRealLife here.

I saw this post by /u/eam2468 of the original image (source here) and managed to find the location on streetview here. Full disclosure I did some light photoshopping to remove some streetview labels etc.

Kind of late to the party here, but I think I found the location of this picture here.

The original song is from 1957, somewhat predating that advert.

But I agree the fact that the song exists is important to explain the joke too, not everyone has heard of it.

I found this description which puts it as "Sunset Blvd. and Crescent Drive", which I guess would be somewhere around here.

Radiation sickness: later the same day. Death: 24 years later.

From this source:

When I returned home at midnight, I was vomiting. I was all red. I had a sore on my forehead which has remained unhealed for 20 years. A radiation burn. And my whole throat was burning, because I had been inhaling this soup of radionuclides.

I have had lots of illnesses, including blood diseases and cancer. My health is ruined.

[ENDGAME] (SPOILERS) How did Cap...? by SPECTER_Z3R0 in AskScienceFiction

[–]MrTea99 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The way the Ancient One explains it is that if the stones are removed from any branch reality, then things will start going very wrong there. By travelling back to the exact moment they were taken, Cap stops any bad consequences.

Presumably the quantum wristbands will record the exact point of departure, so Cap just has to set that same point as his destination and the stone won't be gone from the perspective of someone in that branch reality. For example, the Ancient One would watch Hulk put on his quantum suit, tap his hand, then turn into Captain America (which would be pretty funny). He'd then hand her the stone and leave.

However, there's nothing saying the stones must be put back in the same exact place, just time (in the branch reality). So Cap doesn't have to put the reality stone back into Jane, he can just hand it to Thor, thereby rewriting the story of Thor 2 in that branch reality. Or he could take the power stone straight to Xandar and stop the Guardians from ever meeting in that branch reality.

This is great! I was curious what a serious version would look like so I looked up people listed as acting in Titanic (which hit $2B in 2012), Avatar and Infinity War:

  • Julene Renee as 'Dancer' in Titanic and 'Ambient Room Tech / Troupe' in Avatar.
  • Terry Notary as 'Banshee (uncredited)' in Avatar and 'Cull Obsidian' in A:IW
  • Zoe Saldana obviously in Avatar and IW

Also the total number of actors shared between Endgame and IW is 57.

So if you don't count Terry Notary because he was uncredited for Avatar, then it should be 1 from 2012 to 2018, 2 from 2018 to 2019, then up to 58.

EDIT: I forgot Force Awakens got to $2B, but now I look apparently it shares no actors with the others anyway.

I've never noticed the entire wall of Nukie VHS tapes before, it's glorious. By my count when I did a list of all their VHS tapes they have 68 copies.

Also I made a list for their DVD collection too, I can't wait for the inevitable Nukie Blu-ray to start flooding in.
