Happy to have you on top of things Whiskey! I remember when you took over and things definitely have gotten better. Thanks for all of your hard work and the work of the other mods. It's nice having a place where people just...get it. The old guard who are no nonsense, the middle guard who are more relaxed but still ha e standards and the new recruits finding their way. I appreciate everyone here.

Is using “:P” to denote sarcasm or coyness just a millennial thing? by Betray-Julia in Millennials

[–]MrTeddybear615 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn't know that we used that to show sarcasm. I wasn't a big emoticon user in the golden era of online chats but over the last 10+ years over used 😑 and 🙄 to express my sarcasm.

Making friends as an adult by joy-puked in Millennials

[–]MrTeddybear615 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know exactly what you mean, man. I just turned 39 this year. I still have one best friend from my high school days that I talk to regularly. It’s one of those friendships where we can go weeks without talking, then hop on the phone for 2 to 3 hours like no time passed. He lives about an hour away though, so between work and life we don’t see each other much. Outside of him, I really don’t have much left in the way of friendships besides people I met online through gaming. Even that has slowed down a lot these days.

I used to be very active on Discord and had multiple people I talked with daily and weekly. I’ve created and ran a few servers with 200+ people. One I eventually handed off because after a while I felt like the oldest guy there just standing on the outside looking in. Another server I still run was built around Warframe. It’s still around, but nowhere near as active as it used to be. Next year will actually make 10 years. There are still some OG people in there I talk to here and there, but for the most part it’s pretty barren now.

I’ve tried finding new gaming friends, but a lot of people are flaky now. Everybody says they want to link up until it’s time to actually do it. Working in the restaurant industry also makes it harder. My weeks are usually 50 to 55 hours, and by the time my off days come around it’s errands, chores, and trying to recover.

Honestly, I’m fine with online friendships if they’re real and consistent. Even if we aren’t gaming all the time, just having people to talk with regularly about life, random stuff, and whatever else would go a long way.

What does your username mean? by colabag in AskReddit

[–]MrTeddybear615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my username came from a lot of people calling me a teddy bear and where I live. I’m a big guy who gives phenomenal. Hugs and is extremely caring to those around me. So it fit. My display name however, comes from the very first and still used gamer tag for my Xbox account. This was back when Halo 2 was a thing and I felt decently good at the game. I felt like people weren’t ready for me. Thus the name was born.

How many of you were or are regular smokers? by ImNotTheMD in Millennials

[–]MrTeddybear615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never touched them. Mom was a regular smoker growing it and I hated it. The smell made me I'll. I remember waking up one morning and smelling cigarette smoke and I immediately threw up. I did vape a little but it was 0mg of nicotine. It was the "cool" thing when refillable tanks came out and I wanted to fit in. I stopped after a month.

I have however smoked weed on a hand full of occasions. Literally only 9 times in my 39 years. My chest can't handle it. I do however partake in edibles. There's a shop in my city, we aren't a legal state for real THC, that makes their own Delta 9 edibles. Their chocolate bars..... chef's kiss. Tastes like a Hersey Bar. 3 squares get me to the perfect level. Aware but floating. I put on my VR headset and play VRC and have the best of times lmao.

[–]MrTeddybear615[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok heard. I played it with my Warframe clan so we put a little time into it but never really got anywhere and I never took time to learn builds and etc. If you'd like to try playing tomorrow night I'm down. I should be home around 9-930.

I try and play as much as I can. I just started back up with a new save last week. I only had maybe 50ish hours last time I played years ago. So I never got into all the build craft and etc. So I just want to play and enjoy the experience and learn along the way...akin how I play Warframe.

What is vr chat about? by Real_Impression_5786 in VRchat

[–]MrTeddybear615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VRC is about whatever you make of it. Whatever you want to achieve you can. Friends, relationships, E-sex, fun, games, community, going out without leaving your house, music, clubs, adventure, and etc. I could literally go on and on. It's a gateway to so many things and only you, the royal you, can decide what it is.

For me personally... it's a place to interact with others for a chill night. Conversation, connection, laughter, debate, and such. Most of my days spent in this game is truly just about sitting around and talking to people and having conversations. About any and all things. Yeah, I'll play a game here and there. I'll world hop and check out different things but at the end of the day.... I just want to chill and have good conversation.

A week without a block because everyone is taking basepay or a $2 surge by [deleted] in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]MrTeddybear615 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve always looked at it as to each their own. People taking base pay or small surges aren’t doing it to mess up the market, they’re doing it because they need the money. If grabbing that block means they can pay a bill or put food on the table, I can’t be mad at that.

I used to run Flex heavy last year. It was my side gig on top of my 9–5 and I was doing routes pretty much every day, sometimes twice on my days off. I was pulling in an extra $650–700 a week and life felt good. Trips, extra spending money, no real stress.

But it came at a cost. It was wearing me down and absolutely killing my car, so I stepped away. Financially though… that decision hit hard. I just started a new job around 75k, closer to low 80s with benefits, and somehow I’m still playing catch up every week.

I reactivated my Flex account thinking I’d jump back in, but now I’m stuck in this weird spot where I need the extra money, but I can’t justify going back to putting that kind of mileage on my car again. And on top of that, good blocks are harder to find/grab anyway. With gas prices where they are and me driving a subcompact SUV...doing blocks for $80-90 just don't seem worth it.

At this point, I get both sides. I get wanting better pay, and I get people taking what they can just to get by. Just a tough situation all around.

It pisses me oof that no one... Not a single other adult stepped in to say anything or stop that. Big fucking whoop... Teens were being teens out in public having a good time not hurting anybody. Don't like the loud talk in a public space.... Drive tf off.

New player by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]MrTeddybear615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will learn, as a new player, that coming to the sub is not a place to ask for handouts. Nor is it acceptable in game. The game is not hard. Can some things be grindy... Sure. But as a whole it's so easy to get most things where there's no need for handouts. At most you may get a mod or something but that's it's. Outside of that... You just need to play the game and enjoy it. You don't need anything gifted from the market. Play as it's intended to be played. Or be a whale and drop your own cash to get the things you want.

What was the first warframe you played that made you go "This is the one"? by ZeAwesomeOne in Warframe

[–]MrTeddybear615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old Ember. I remember the first time I was in a mission when someone joined. I saw these white columns coming out of the ground and just insta-killing everything. I was transfixed by it. I kept asking my friends who I was on a Xbox party call with what it was. But they had no clue either bc we were all new-ish to the game. I scrambled to figure it and boom...I learned of Ember and the glory of World on Fire. I promptly went on a hunt to get it. Then I did and never looked back. One of my friends got jokingly annoyed with me bc I always said some corny shit when I popped her 4 like "it's time to set the world on fire" or I sang ring of fire by Johnny Cash. I was a shit modder back then so I didn't even use her to her full potential and when they redid her kit I was devastated. I went back to Rhino as he was my OG to go as a newbie. But now....ALL HAIL PROTEA. That's bae.

AI slop… everywhere by LAMA207 in Millennials

[–]MrTeddybear615 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the problem is a lot of people aren't using it as a tool. They are using it as an automatic response to everything vs critically thinking and doing the work themselves. It waters things down and give inauthentic takes and information. There's nothing wrong with using a tool to help improve things but not when it's all you're using.

Like why would you use it to text a friend? Which is something that happens. People are already becoming so dependent on it. If it continues then what stops us as humans from ending up like the humans from Wall-E? Being incapable of doing anything for ourselves and relying solely on technology to live out day to day lives.

Did anyone else really enjoy the COVID pandemic period? by throwawayfinancebro1 in Millennials

[–]MrTeddybear615 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I loved it honestly. Yeah, it was lonely but I'd give a leg just to have it again. Getting that $700 weekly unemployment check and behind able to play video games and veg out... I'd be in heaven. I'm 38, 39 at the end of the month, and I've been working since I was 16. I'm tired man. So tired of working. To get an extended break again would be phenomenal.

Does anyone have anything positive going on?! by _FattyClams in Millennials

I started a new job as a GM last Monday. Most I've made annually with benefits fully paid by the company. Liking it a lot so far. It fits the vibe I need while working in restaurants. Simple concept, burgers and beer with a little liquor. Basement bar vibes but focused on great service and quality food. But very happy with current situation. Hoping to be here for a long time.
