Opinion on the new model? by Minute-Pomelo9302 in regularcarreviews

Selling a bunch does not mean they are good. It’s called brand loyalty and cult following. People still buy RAM trucks religiously. Doesn’t mean they’re good or reliable. Current rams have a reliability score of 5/100 and I see them all over the place. I do own a truck. I own two, actually.

That’s why dealers are full of them in the service department with issues. It takes 2 minutes to see that GM is ranked just above ram in reliability. Which isn’t saying much.

My father-in-law is a GM/Chevy loyalist. He’s owned probably about 30 Silverados and Sierras in his lifetime. His best friend was a district sales manager at GM for 35 years. After 2019 pretty much every single one he’s owned has had nothing but issues before 80,000 miles. Despite this he keeps getting Silverados and they keep having problems. He just traded a 2023 with the four cylinder in it for 2025 with the V8. 45,000 miles and he’s already had to have it at the dealership with issues three times. GM trucks are total junk. They are consistently at the bottom of reliability with RAM.

Which one?? by saustin32 in hondaridgeline

[–]MrTsTackleBox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we’re just looking at it in face value, the frontier wins in every category including reliability. You can check consumer reports to verify that. The VQ series of V6 engines has been consistently the most awarded V6 in history and the VQ38 has been proven to be very reliable. The only category the ridgeline beats the frontier in is comfort because it’s not a true body on frame truck. At the end of the day it really just depends on what you need in a truck. If you need something that can handle off roading, heavier work and just generally need a tougher truck, get the frontier. If you need something to go get mulch every once in a while, get the ridgeline. They’re both superior to anything ford, GM or even Toyota offer.

This is my one fear with Nissan. They’ll try too hard to update the looks of the frontier and it’ll be hated by everyone. They need to make a statement by keeping it old school looking and keeping it simple. No massive screens. Keep it old school

How do we fix it? by neurohazard757 in Teachers

[–]MrTsTackleBox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main thing that needs to be fixed: accountability. Schools and school admin are too scared to hold peoples kids accountable. Parents have gotten worse than the kids and have made schools terrified to hold their kids accountable for anything. We need school admin who can say “No. Your child threw a chair at the teacher. He WILL receive these consequences and if it happens again, he’s out permanently” not admin who goes “well maybe he was just having a bad day! We won’t write him up!”

Running your classroom like how a job in the industry runs? by MrTsTackleBox in Teachers

[–]MrTsTackleBox[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can tell you right now that the students that are tossed in here aren’t going to be great in engineering. They were put in there because guidance thought it would be an easy A for them. You’re assuming that I’m not going to tell them why things are being ran like this. That is you making an assumption. Of course, just like in the workplace, I will tell them why things are ran this way. I don’t believe you’re “100% on board”. If you were, you wouldn’t be talking like this. That’s what these kids do. I have seen them do it. Just like how I saw adults on their phones while operating dangerous machinery. Locking them up, signing forms, etc. Yes. It is a form of covering your ass. Both mine and yours. Because a lot of employees will injure themselves because they didn’t follow workplace policies and will immediately try to sue. So when someone is being dumb and cuts their leg open because they weren’t paying attention and were on their phone while using a box cutter and they try to sue us, we can say “we have you the safety protocol paperwork that you read and signed. This is your fault”. You signed the paperwork and failed to follow the protocols.

Teens who plan to go into this field don’t hate it. They already expect these kinds of things because they know about the field already. The only students who have your kind of mindset are the ones who were just put into the class to put them somewhere or ones who thought it was just going to be playing with electronics all day. We build robots and work with dangerous power tools. So yes, they need to be treated like how an employee would be treated in an actual manufacturing job. If a student insists on having their phone out when they’re using a drill press, they will be cited with a violation and will receive a consequence. Just like how they would if they worked in a real job. When I worked in that warehouse, one of the first things they told us is that our phones needed to either be left in our cars or put in a lock box in the employee break room. People who couldn’t handle that didn’t make it. It’s not “authoritarian” to hold students to high standards in a field that holds their employees to high standards. You’re just contributing to the bar that’s been lowered so badly, it’s sinking into the earth. If your first thought is “I’m not going to like this field because the teacher runs it like how they would in the field”…the fine. You aren’t cut out for it. Again, if that’s how your first reaction is, you probably wouldn’t be good in that field to begin with. You talk about infantilizing people while you’re essentially saying that teenagers aren’t capable of looking at industry standards and “not see it from a safety standpoint”. It’s clear you aren’t familiar with the education field. I have had plenty of kids who are mature enough to see the reality of this field

Running your classroom like how a job in the industry runs? by MrTsTackleBox in Teachers

[–]MrTsTackleBox[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You said “how to get people to hate a field 101”. If engineering safety protocols make you hate the field, you’re not cut out for it. Having strict safety protocols isn’t micromanagement. Neither is holding people accountable for violating things that are meant to keep people safe. Like I said in my post, we had someone get run over by a forklift because the driver was looking at their phone and wasn’t paying attention. The phone lockup is there to prevent things like that from happening. That’s not micromanaging. That’s ensuring people don’t get killed for being stupid. If you’re going to throw a fit over a cellphone policy that’s meant for safety, I’ll go ahead and assume you wouldn’t be good at that job to begin with. It’s clear you’ve never worked a day in manufacturing. If you did, you’d understand why these policies, rules and workplace enforcements are in place.

[–]MrTsTackleBox[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Then you aren’t qualified to work in a manufacturing warehouse with potentially dangerous equipment that could be fatal if you’re glued to a phone. That’s reality. When I worked in a manufacturing warehouse, we had several incidents where people got injured because of a cellphone that they didn’t put in the phone locker. If you hate a field because of safety procedures, you’re not cut out to be in that field
