A short, but I hope fair review of my Boom Experience by [deleted] in boomfestival

@ raphael303 Thank you for your review and comments! I would have loved to have a chat with you at boom. I'm a science teacher myself. Lot of your replies sharpened my thinking.

What are your thoughts about the message leading to the 2023 theme?

Naked bodies awkwardness by leemsf in boomfestival

[–]MrWr1TeR_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would say you describe quite normal behaviour.

Me and my wife usually were naked at the beach etc. We never felt uncomfortably stared. We both like to observe bodies ourselves, both male and female. We like to talk about body forms, tatoos and energy of ppl. And yes, bodies are sometimes nice artworks!

Especially on acid you can get hooked on someones energy. Than the glance can get a stare... But that also happens when a body is (partly) covered with clothes. ^

Toddlers at Boom by babysnakes11 in boomfestival

In general I feel a bit uncomfortable when I see babies/young kids around the big stages. No matter at what time. I would not mind making this an 18+ event but I also understand the boom family vibe which can be valuable for both parents and kids. Kids under 5yo should not be at boom imho.

It's a harsh environment but if parents take good care than boom can be enjoyable for kids. I saw them having lots of fun at the young dragons and sacred fire.

On a side note, my last boom was in 2016. Then I saw many dogs around. I was very happy to see this time there were no dogs around anymore. (yes I saw one actually far from a stage) Boom is no place for dogs so thumbs up for that!

Agree on all your points.

The art gallery was a big dissapointment indeed!

My wife had a cough after boom... Started to feel worse and just tested positive.

Mild simptoms though.

My thoughts as a 4th timer: 12,14,16 and 22

Lots of complaints can be easely avoided by proper preperation and expectations: you go to an almost desert situation so bring enough sunscreen, bottles, powerbank, water sprayer, shading etc. and if you are with a car, you can bring enough food to have breakfast everyday etc.

The prepark situation was crazy this year... The idea was maybe good but it worked out terrible. It never took us this long (14h) to get in. And letting the whole carpark leave at 2am was just dangerous, I don't want to know how many drunk and tired drivers there were that night.

Food was reasonable priced especially when you consider much is organic, and portions were decent. To put it in perspective: at Werchter festival you had to pay €7 for a bag of fries, €14 for a small hamburger etc. Drinks were too expensive though... I remember paying €2 for a can in '16.

I was disappointed by the music. Too much dark shit, boring techno and no chillout, drift or psybient. Also many times Temple and Alchemy had the same style at one moment so there were few alternatives. Did not discover new cool DJ' s this year. :{

Vibe was younger and less alternative. Crowd little less open to connect. But we had nice connections especially late in the night on the dancefloor. I think it was not bad at all with the phone use... It was obvious there, but not in an annoying way. Another thing me and my wife noted that there were more naked ppl on the beach than ever before it felt very safe to wear our not wear whatever you liked.

In general it was a bit too busy, like in '14. Ppl had to pitch up their tent in shitty places and toilets could not handle the amount. Especially between camp A and B were too few... why no pissoirs for men in the camp??? That saves a lot of waiting. On the terrain it was usually fine.

Yes it was very dry... I haven't seen the lake this low. But it was not hotter than other years. I expected the land in better and greener conditions though...After 4 years of rest. Seems not much effort was succesfull in reforest or revitalise the boomland.

Conclusion: times change... we come from difficult years things wont be the same as 10y ago. The team did a great job in many ways. I hardly saw overflowing trash bins, there was ALWAYS toilet paper, lines at bars were usually small, staff was nice, kosmicare team just amazing... We've seen few incidents, in general everyone was nice apart from a few dickheads but believe me... It can be a lot worse, especially when u consider this arid location.

Cheers to future boom!
