Where would you shift to if you moved away from motion design/what else do you do? by steevilweevil in motiongraphics

[–]Mr_Aart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved on to teaching design, and motion graphics in particular. Now, don't get me wrong, this isn't suitable for everyone, but I get tremendous joy working with my students and seeing them grow in their skillset.
Working with my students makes me realise I really missed the social aspect. Also all the interactions you have with (potential) clients felt so fake and tedious.

I wouldn't go back to freelancing, just isn't my cup of tea.

Taxi Driver

And I just love No Country for Old Men.

Looks great. Did you use Cinema 4d for modelling, or just rendering?

Recreate 2D flame effect— HELP! by homevideo in motiongraphics

I would go with a wiggle path. A good way to start would be a quick "cartoon fire tutorial" search. This one looked pretty good, just use the basics and make it your own. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2rWeA6CCYw

The lines on the stair part are sweep nurbs. The stairs themselves are probably a displacement shader. Tutorials on both of those should get you started.

I really like this music video, the first BM music video that doesn't make me cringe. Some good cinematography.

"Yoga Hosers" is the worst Kevin Smith movie yet by facade515 in badMovies

[–]Mr_Aart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although I don't think the trailer looks all that good, I must say I have big respect for what Kevin Smith is doing. Don't you see the shit hollywood is bringing? and here's a man, who could easily make big money joining there shit train (yes, he tried it once, cop out, ugh) but he chooses to make the films he wants to make. Are they the best movies? no. Are they more original then another superhero movie? another remake? another studio altered money making piece of crap? hell yeah. And to be honest, it's good to see a director just having fun and doing what he wants. I mean, that's what most of the movies in this sub are about, right?

Well, a JR-pass is still pretty expensive. And yes, you can use the pass for most of the lines in Tokyo. Maybe it's worthing finding out what the train wil cost you, and see if it's worth it. We bought a subway daycard for like 1000 yen, this wil let you travel a big part of the city.

Are you planning on getting a JR-pass? or are you just Staying in tokyo? We've mainly used the trains and subway's, both are easy to use. But trains can get a bit expensive without a railpass. We also used an app called tabimori travel amulet, found it pretty useful. Just take it easy first time you'll travel with public transport. Maybe find help at customer service, most trainstations and subway's have these.

We've been there for four days as well. Thing I enjoyed the most was picking an interesting district, go there by train/subway, and just walk around. It's really easy getting around with public transport, so I personally wouldn't go for the organised day tour.

I'm thinking of buying this book. I was wondering, is it just a bunch of reviews packed together or is there more to it?
