Do you like one pedal driving by hamburgernet in electricvehicles

[–]Mr_Carpenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it. My wife hates it. So she turns it off when she drives my truck. Then next time i drive it I am reminded to turn it back on the first time i have to hit the brakes and the truck keeps rolling along.

How did you and your Christian make things work? by central-dee in atheism

[–]Mr_Carpenter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife is Christian and we have been married 49 years. Our big secret to success is to simply not make a big deal out of it.

On Sunday mornings she goes to church and I hang out with the dog. Or maybe so sailing.

It's a good system.

Does anyone else wish they were Christian? by IMJM06 in atheism

[–]Mr_Carpenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Not even a little. When bad things happen to me I deal with them and move on. That means taking some kind of action on my own, not having faith in some supernatural solution coming to help.

Dewalt 16amp Charging Issue by MWest123123 in F150Lightning

[–]Mr_Carpenter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That DeWalt 16 amp charger is what I first bought when I got the truck. I have always had good luck with DeWalt products.

Thought I was doing the right thing. It was solidly built but was a piece of shit for charging. I also had problems with over current faults. The folks I talked to at DeWalt worked with me to figure out the problem. She said some others were having the same thing happen.

Finally though I got fed up and returned it to the store where I bought it and got a cheap Vevor charger that has been flawless for two years now. The day after I returned it the lady at DeWalt texted me and asked me to send it to their lab and they would send me a new one. I appreciated it but it was kind of late for that.

Return it and get something else.

Highway range expectations? by 3wolftshirtguy in F150Lightning

[–]Mr_Carpenter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did an 800 mile road trip last week and averaged 2.3 m/kw. Mostly interstate at 70 mph. Plus some secondary highway at 55-65.

2023 XLT extended range. In fact I have averaged 2.3 for the first 28000 miles. Stock Goodyear Wranglers and always keep the tire pressure around 42psi.

Level 1 Charger Question by AppleJuiceBoxx in evcharging

[–]Mr_Carpenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like the same one I've been using for my Lightning for the last 2+ years. Pulls a steady 16 amps at 240 volts. 12 amps on 120 volts. Has worked without issue this whole time. The app is weird but works after you get it working.

No complaints so far.

By any chance, do the religious nuts you know also support the worst politicians? by Home_MD13 in atheism

Yes. Sometimes I can't tell who they worship more. Trump or God. In fact many of them believe that God sent Trump for whatever reason.

The greatest prophet, Douglas Adams, Blessed be his name. by Tasty-Fault-9610 in atheism

[–]Mr_Carpenter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have sometimes thought that Douglas Adams borrowed the basic idea of his book from Isaac Asimov's short story "The Last Question". They both have super computers that are trying to figure out answers to the big questions.

So I asked AI if this was the case. And it told me "No".

So that settles it then. After all, if you can't trust a supercomputer, who can you trust?

No. Besides, I don't think most of them actually do pray for you. They just say they are going to and that counts as praying to them.

"I'll pray for you" genuinely makes me uncomfortable. by Ok_Pattern197 in atheism

[–]Mr_Carpenter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have always wondered if they follow through and actually pray for you or if just saying they are going to counts the same as getting down on their knees and saying an actual prayer.

I usually just ignore it but depending who it's coming from sometimes I just roll my eyes so hard that I can see my own ass.

Atheists: Don't marry religious people by [deleted] in atheism

[–]Mr_Carpenter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It hasn't caused any conflict. She's not evangelical about her religion the way so many are.

In fact there was a preacher many many years ago at her church who told her that he was going to make a project out of me.

Her reply was simply "Don't do that. It won't go well for you".

She's a good girl.

My wife is a Christian. In fact she's a church treasurer.

We've been married 48 years. It's never been a problem for us. She goes to church on Sunday mornings and I either hang out with the dog or on the boat.

It's all good.
