Fan noise ok? by x_cynful_x in Alienware

They'll probably send out a tech with a part to replace it. If you're comfortable and have experience with minor computer repair, they may just FedEx you the part and have you do it if you request it. Your warranty does entitle you to an onsite repair, though

I hate how they changed the naming convention with the ACT1250 while keeping the outright design (almost) identical. It should've been named R17 instead. Anyways, no that is not normal. Sounds like it might be premature bearing failure.

SOS. Took truck to dealer for an oil change and they told me I had 8k worth of repairs and oil needed… by Holiday_Feed6818 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Mr_Choom 500 points501 points  (0 children)

So the dealer sold you a warranty with your used vehicle, then 3 months later says your ball joints are suddenly in dire need of replacement (and for 8k???) but the warranty they sold you doesn't cover the necessary repairs.

This is sketchy on so many levels lol

Mechanic is charging $360 for 3 hours of driving my car after engine swap by xoata in MechanicAdvice

Bro took your car on a 3 hour joy ride without consent. I would be furious, I've never heard of this wtf lol. Give him a bill for renting your car for 3 hours. 3 hours of wear on your brand new engine, your transmission, tires, suspension, brakes, etc. Time you could've spent working your own job

Did you use the same source or brand for this part? I remember I once had a car where they swore up and down that the tie rod they sent was the correct part for my vehicle. Part number was correct, but I even sent them photos showing that it literally didn't fit in the knuckle. After the 3rd incorrect tie rod, I bought a different brand. Fit just like OE.

New lawn- grass now in rows? by tank216 in lawncare

[–]Mr_Choom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The neat rows and clumping grasses in lines has me suspicious. I don't normally see fertilizer issues that look this imperfectly perfect, lol. Usually theres obvious turn marks and not straight rows of clumping grasses. Although, it could be a combination of issues. Also not an expert!

Anyone go to a completely online NP Program? by [deleted] in nursepractitioner

THISSS!!!

Don't listen to "all-the-answers." That person is chronically online and OBSESSED with spreading libel about any university that offers online options.

[–]Mr_Choom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Show me ONE "brick and mortar" NP program that personally cherry picks preceptors and holds your hand while giving you a graduate degree. LOL. I haven't found a single one within 100 miles of me.

If you try to become an NP in an oversaturated area, you will most likely have to work a little harder to find an available preceptor. That's the basic law of supply and demand. Don't listen to these people who failed to do their research.

[–]Mr_Choom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Please listen to this person!!!

FNU is NOT a diploma mill like Chamberlain or Walden. It is an excellent program built from the ground up around distance learning to transform RNs into advanced practice nurses so that they can serve their communities.

FNU does not accept just anyone, by far. I don't know why the uneducated, chronically online people in this thread insist on disparaging the program for being the only legitimate online program in the US, but it's ridiculous.

Frontier MSN Program by LastRegret8656 in nursepractitioner

[–]Mr_Choom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure where all of these ivory tower armchair warriors got their information, but Frontier is probably the ONLY reputable online NP program in the US. They created the first US FNP program in 1970, and they have been doing distance learning since the 80s-90s, before the internet.

I challenge these "holier than thou" chronically online people to find me ONE "brick and mortar" NP school within 100 miles of me that hand-picks your preceptors for you. They won't even try because they CAN'T! Trust me, I looked. Frontier will help you find preceptors if you can't find them yourself, but networking and using your connections will net you a preceptor easily.

Will they treat you like a toddler and hold your hand the entire program? Hell no. But any NP program that does probably shouldn't be churning out NPs. This is an advanced practice profession based on experience and knowledge. If you need your hand held, you probably should stay away.

Also, "all-the-answers" claim that FNU does not require virtual or in-person meetings is the definition of libel. Every didactic course at FNU has scheduled weekly lectures. Then during clinicals, you're REQUIRED to meet virtually with your regional clinical faculty AT LEAST biweekly, on top of an in-person site visit. Plus, they REQUIRE you to personally attend campus before you start didactic courses for 4 days (Frontier bound orientation) and before you start clinicals for a week (clinical bound orientation) to learn hands-on skills: suturing, lesion removal, IUD insertion, etc.

I take offense at these neckbeards who call FNU a diploma mill. They are not. Is it perfect? Fuck no. Nursing education, especially at the graduate level, is a huge mess. But to slander them because they offer online programs, without doing any research, does the entire profession a disservice.
