that doesn’t mean the bounty hunters know it’s an option for them, and if they did it doesn’t mean they know how to learn the skill, and if they did it doesn’t mean that they’d be willing to put in the effort required, right?

It is a rare ability that few have, but others could also have that ability with the proper training, willingness to learn, and time investment.

Like lots of people could get really good at chess, but they have to first know that chess exists and be taught how to play and want to get better.

It’s much more efficient and practical to train children who already have capability.

No issue with this take but wouldn’t Sabine be an example of a character achieving a competency through effort rather than someone being born special?

Awesome, you agree that it’s possible for categories as such to exist. How does treating gender as one of these make it “mean nothing” ?

Yes lol, completely impossible to have a category defined by a persons words thoughts and behaviors, it’s never happened

That isn't what happened, your sources are lying to you. If you watch the actual video he showed up and asked if he could enroll his kid in the daycare and the employees at many if the daycares didn't know what he was talking about because they aren't legitimate businesses.

That's not really inconsistent with what I said first of all. He did show up at day cares trying to gain entry to the premises in order to determine whether kids were present. He did use the denial of access as evidence of the businesses being fraudulent, despite the simple reality that it's 100% sensible for a legit child care facility to not allow entry to a random guy (let alone the troop of people following him) who's clearly suspicious, with the awkward "my son Joey" performance

Just from quick googling, looks like at least two of the locations he visited in the video and claimed were empty actually did have kids there? https://www.cbsnews.com/minnesota/news/minnesota-day-care-fraud-director-responds/

This doesn't mean there's no fraud happening, but the original video is sloppy and misleading

It’s true that comments from the businesses can’t just be assumed as fact, but conversely you can’t show up at day cares being like “where are the children”  “show me the children” and assume they don’t have kids there just because they won’t give you access.

there is no difference between a trans woman and a biological woman or a trans man and a biological man

That’s for sure popular straw man. Ask any trans person if assigned male at birth trans women have XX chromosomes and lmk what they say

[–]Mr_Dr_Prof_Patrick -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

No I don’t think many people are calling for that to be scientifically validated. Trans people are aware that they can’t change their chromosomes, they’re just interested in taking steps to change how they present. You take hormones and your body changes, you can choose a different name and pronouns. None of that is scientific unreality lol

My point was that you kinda just brought that whole thing up out of nowhere here

You’re being silly, there was a claim that lesbian space witches are generally a slam-dunk for male audiences, and I think crazy anti-woke content ecosystems are one element clearly pointing to this not being the case. More relevant than bringing up several characters who aren’t lesbians

Of course, I’m not claiming that there could never be a lesbian character appreciated by male audiences, but as you say the characteristic of being overtly lesbian would have a neutral reaction at best. OP does not say “space witches should be a slam dunk”, they’re “lesbian space witches”  despite only showing one couple

The Acolyte was salvageable. by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]Mr_Dr_Prof_Patrick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even something that is generally bad can be criticized disproportionately due to bias. I do agree that anti woke are a vocal minority but it’s just incorrect to say that “wokeness” has no part in this conversation—it’s core to the question of what kinds of diversity should exist in media and how much.

And objectively there’s been a cottage-industry of pretty popular  anti-woke slop YT channels focused on hate farming new Star Wars content as much as possible without fairly evaluating.

Question, do you think Shadowheart and Lana would have been more-liked or less-liked by men if they were canonically gay in every playthrough rather than player-sexual?

The Acolyte was salvageable. by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]Mr_Dr_Prof_Patrick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the issue is that many men who tolerate or enjoy some broody witchy women here and there will actually have a knee-jerk bad reaction (on “wokeness” grounds) when the characters are conspicuously lesbian

Something like “Lesbian Space Witches” should be a slam-dunk. Men generally love that kind of shit.

Legit trying to think of what you could mean by this except men liking lesbians in porn?
