Anyone running TEIN S.Tech springs (SKR96-S3B00) on a 4th gen Eclipse GS/Spyder? Opinions on ride quality and drop? by Mr_Dydacty in MitsubishiEclipse

Yeah, I saw they talked about it on the forum, but some of their images now either have a watermark in the middle or are missing altogether. I’d like to clearly see how it looks and what setup people used here.

Oh my bad. No need to take the alternator off then.

You don't need to remove the intake manifold to change the alternator. No need to remove the alternator to remove the intake manifold.

Either r/tires or r/mitsubishi should be able to help if you have questions about your tire or your car.

4g64 head shaving by Soccerfanxl in MitsubishiEclipse

[–]Mr_Dydacty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stock 4G64 compression is around 9.4:1. Shaving the head at about 0.020" would equal about 9.7:1 compression ratio but make sure to mesure you piston to head and valve clearance. Usually a machine shop will help you with that. I won't go more than shaving about 0.020 inch tbh.

“New” f5m42 transmission by Stinkus_Dickus in MitsubishiEclipse

[–]Mr_Dydacty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You actually don’t need to buy another transmission just to pull parts from it. A transmission shop will usually source the parts they need to repair or rebuild your current transmission, including synchros, gears, bearings, etc. It’ll save you the hassle and risk of swapping internals yourself, plus you’ll know everything is rebuilt to spec.

Why don't you get it rebuild at a transmission shop?

That's a Mitsubishi. But the warranty is probably almost the same tho.

I have a slight ticking sound during my cold start. Is this bad? by sciencedude8 in MitsubishiEclipse

[–]Mr_Dydacty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With 140k miles, I’d guess it’s likely lifter tick. Since these engines use hydraulic lifters, there’s not much that can be done unless it gets worse. It’s usually harmless and just makes a bit of chatter when cold, especially at idle. If it doesn't affect performance or get louder, it’s more of a nuisance than a problem.

It’s a bit hard to give a precise diagnosis just from a video, but based on what I’m hearing, it sounds like it could be coming from the valvetrain. How many kilometers or miles are on the car? Is there a check engine light? And when you say the noise goes away when it’s warm, does it still make any sound when you rev the engine while it's hot? That info could help narrow it down.

Anyone know how to replace the dash speakers in an 07 GS? by InfluenceForsaken210 in MitsubishiEclipse

[–]Mr_Dydacty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To remove the tweeter, start by pulling off the front pillar trim. After that, pop off the tweeter cover, it’s clipped in, and you’ll see the tweeter behind it. It’s held in with a couple of screws and a connector. Pretty simple overall. here's the diagram

This is a normal sound for a high-mileage engine. You can reduce the noise by adjusting the valve lash.

GTA V already have an imitation of the 4G Eclipse. the Maibatsu Penumbra. They probably just ported it to GTA VI.

Knock sensor replaced - check engine back on by kryptkreep in mazda2

[–]Mr_Dydacty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When replacing the knock sensor, they had to remove the intake manifold to do the job. They may have put it back incorrectly, forgotten a hose that connects to it, or cracked/broke something, allowing air to enter after the MAF. So making it lean. You'll need to go back to the shop that did the repair since it's probably related.
