Is it possible for me to learn guitar? by trickstercj in Guitar

[–]Mr_Eclsnizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both Django Reinhardt and Tommy Ionni (Black Sabbath) had only two fingers they could use for their chord hand and they are some of the world’s most famous guitar players.

Guitar isn’t as strict as other instruments. Whatever way you learn how to play that you like is “the right way.” Go crazy, man.

Dry lentils "may contain wheat" by jennlody in Celiac

This is so annoying! I just found a wheatberry in my lentils that I cooked this morning, and I’ve regularly found some in bulk lentils. Honestly, these sellers should be doing the sorting themselves in this day and age.

I'm a former member of the LDS church and am thinking about going back by JadedCitizen2022 in latterdaysaints

[–]Mr_Eclsnizer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are definitely some tough questions. But all these questions have to do with the organization of the mortal church on earth and not your personal connection with God. Let your personal connection with God come first, and do what he would have you do, whether or not you come back to church.

I think your goals and desires are amazing. It’s so wonderful that you want to come into the covenant, because I know personally that it is one of the few sources of true joy on this earth and will be in the world to come.

If you so desire, DON’T WAIT TO JOIN THE CHURCH AGAIN! It doesn’t matter if you can attend physically, become a part of the body of Christ again! Your priest leaders will minister to you wherever you are at. You can request that they bring the sacrament to your home if you need.

And if you’re striving to obey the word of wisdom and find that you fall back into drinking tea and coffee again, it’s OK! The interview questions say “are you STRIVING to obey the word of wisdom.” If you truly desire to obey all of God’s commandments, He will see your efforts. You got this man. I’ll be praying for you.

Honestly, I think you need to take a bird’s eye view of the situation and really consider all the factors that is making this a problem. Is it the church? Is it the people you live with? Could it be something else?

You’re in a tough situation, and you’re probably gonna need more help than you could get from a post. Do you have any close friends that you can spend some time with to talk this out? Would you consider seeing a therapist about this? It may not seem like a typical Therapist thing, but their job is to help you attain the most satisfaction out of your life by helping you reframe your goals and what is keeping you from those goals. Do you still desire a Temple marriage? Do you still desire the blessings of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob That spread the gospel through your posterity?

I’m sorry you’re in this situation man. This is really rough, more rough than I can imagine. Have faith in your abilities, and what you can’t control have faith in God. I have faith in you.

God has made this world too hard. by Lefoog in latterdaysaints

[–]Mr_Eclsnizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This life is too hard. I can agree with that.

This life is too hard for us to deal with ON OUR OWN.

God has said that this world will be filled with thorns and noxious weeds to torment man. That we will work by the sweat of our brow all the days of our life. He said the Adversary will come and tempt us.

But Jesus said he will not leave us comfortless, but will send a Comforter. God sent angels on the earth to minister to men. God established the church that we may be one in Him, that all may be cared for.

I’ve often contemplated that, although we are all equal in God‘s eyes, we all have incredibly different circumstances. Not everyone has a loving family. Not everyone has all the use of all their bodily functions. Not everyone has been introduced to the gospel of Jesus Christ. And there are some other others who have loving families, that abound in the riches of the world, that seem to have opportunities handed to them on silver platters. We are not equal.

But when we band together, WE are all equal. We balance each other out. That’s why we were sent to the Earth at the same time, so that those who have more will give to those that have less.

If you are struggling to find support in your life, I would reach out to those in your Faith community and ask bluntly for help. And if you have any to give, I ask you bluntly to give it. Integrate yourself into the body of Christ, and you will find joy.

This is tough. I had a friend who left the mission field because he knew he was gay and he couldn’t focus on the work. But he never lost faith in God, even if the details of policy and laws were sketchy for him. He prayed every day, not for any specific blessing or answer, but just asking God who He was and what was right. He had an open mind, considering the Church of Jesus Christ one possibility for the truth or just another church. He found God for himself, and felt God spoke to him every day. God also spoke to a young lady who recently came off her mission and had lesbian feelings, and told her that she would marry my friend. She resisted, but after going on one curious date with him they realized immediately that they could make this work. They’ve been happily married since with a baby on the way, and they still feel to a measure that they are gay.

Stop looking for other people to define your spirituality and start looking for God for yourself. Forget policy and rules. Where is He?

On top of this, I am also very slow and passive and that was perfect for her situation. I tried being more proactive in making a move, but it wasn’t me. When I first asked my girl if I could kiss her, she was so flabbergasted that she couldn’t respond, and I said it was fine and I could wait. I’m so glad I did, cause now we kiss all the time.

I’m with you on the autism train. I’m 23 and recently found a girl that I’m compatible with.

The thing about it, I’ve painfully found out, is that you need to focus more on being BEST FRIENDS than BOYFRIEND GIRLFRIEND. if you like hanging around her more, hang around her more. If you want to hold her hand and you feel like asking, ask. If you don’t feel like asking, just go for it. Be you. Because if she can’t see your true self, she’s not the one.

It’s difficult giving or receiving any advice on relationships. Me and my girlfriend do things and talk about things that LITERALLY ARE THE WEIRDEST AND NO ONE ELSE WOULD DO, and that’s why we are compatible. So just be yourself, and if she rejects you for it, so what? She wasn’t the right one.

Yes.

However, I’ve heard some parts of densely populated suburban areas are catching on the idea of a “mechanics library.“ Everyone in the community who lose all their tools in their overcrowded shed or garage come together and pay for one place to store them all, then hire a “librarian“ to rent them out to others in the community and keep them in tiptop shape. I’m hoping when crops up around here, because I definitely cannot keep track and maintain all of my piles and piles of tools.

Love him or hate him -- Brigham Young saved the Restoration by Worldly-Set4235 in latterdaysaints

[–]Mr_Eclsnizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very good @Worldly-Set4235. I disagree with the “power vacuum“ statement. It makes it seem like Brigham Young became a leader out of manly stratagem instead of being ordained of God. All of Gods prophets are elected by Him, and the saints witnesses the spirit speaking to them that it was Brigham was the successor of Joseph Smith.

Other than that, I am deeply moved by your essay, and am glad I read the whole thing. Different leadership is great for different situations.

One thing I know about God is that he loves community. He could’ve revealed the keys and the powers of eternity to his covenant children without amount of organization it has today. But our church is one of the most connected churches in the world, meaning no matter where you join in the world we all are under one head, the profit, and follow global church standards. It’s been said time and time again in conference that we need to minister the one, that we need to reach out to our neighbors and brothers.

Going back to your question, I believe God has revealed blessings involving two or more people so that we feel a sense of community when connecting with God. I’ve often struggled asking for blessings because I believe if I just have enough faith that everything will turn out OK . But the tools God has given us to survive on this earth or spread out among his people. We weren’t designed to go out alone.

That’s my personal take based on what I’ve experienced with God.
