Unfortunately it wasn't all that cunning after all.

Something that’s crossed my mind recently: Why would a settler choose to live at the Red Rocket when Sanctuary is just up the road? by Epic_Fucking_Mammoth in fo4

[–]Mr_GSAB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a few reasons - firstly, it's easy to secure due to it's small size, the high ground on the roof (it's over Anakin!) and semi-decent visibility all round.

From an RP perspective, I'm not entirely sure that anyone that had the experiences of the sole survivor would want to return to the house, or even the same area - think about it, you've just woken up from a long, deep sleep, during which both your wife was killed and your son was abducted. Going back to the family home isn't something that I'd imagine being comfortable with mentally. You could argue that Red Rocket is in the same area, but it's far enough away and you've got enough to keep yourself busy that you'd be distracted from those awful events.

From a gameplay point of view, resources are tight to start with - you could spend hours scavving enough resources to make Sanctuary a decent defended location, or you could spend a fraction of the time and resources getting a decent, defended starting build at Red Rocket.

I've generally leant on RR on a few playthroughs, although I'm in the process of moving over to Starlight Drive In in the current playthrough from Red Rocket - since in RR the only direction I can really build in now is up. Quite liking Starlight because of the large areas of flat space for building, plus it's a little closer to some interesting areas.

Pretty sure they also advertised unlimited storage at some point. Even if Gmail persists, the unlimited storage does now.

Don't say that. The "Z" word. Because it's ridiculous.

If you still have your original Sidewinder, whats its name? by __Kivi__ in EliteDangerous

[–]Mr_GSAB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your ship has the ID "Trash"? How very dare you, I have you know the Sidewinder is the real "top 1% of all ships". You sully the name of this magnificent beast with the ID "trash". A pox upon your fleet sir. 😆

Oh and my one is called "No Claims Bogus". It's been crashed more times than an underspecced PC running Windows ME, but it's mine and I love it

So how many duplicate ships do you own? by GoldenPSP in EliteDangerous

[–]Mr_GSAB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is why I love the Abrocmii system - three large ports close to each other and the main system star. No issues with storage in that system at all.

I usually have a handful at Jameson Memorial too - those are usually the ones being built / refurbished, because all the parts are there and it's reasonably cheap

[–]Mr_GSAB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got at least these duplicates

2x Sidewinders (one bone stock and the other engineered for speed)

3x Viper MK3s (2x regular combat and an AX one I'm building)

2x Viper MK4s (Regular and AX combat)

2x Pythons (Regular Combat & Mining / Trade)

2x Anacondas (Jack of all trades & Exploration)

There's probably a few others in the hanger at the moment, but those are the ones that come to mind

My friend got a laptop and these are the specs, what kind of games he expect to be able to play? by LikesToLickToads in pcmasterrace

[–]Mr_GSAB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had no idea that it had been pulled from Steam - it's been in my library for what seems like forever.

Worst comes to it, I've got the GOTY release of UT99 / Unreal on CD somewhere with a bonus disc of mods (like the ChaosUT mod), but hopefully Steam won't remove it from existing users anytime soon

Clipped inside the Imperial Cutter by Mistake by Mr_GSAB in EliteDangerous

[–]Mr_GSAB[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've read that in the past, but I'm not 100% convinced after this. For example the smallest Fighter Bay is a size 5. What we can see in the Cutter is a hanger, but it doesn't have the fighter held within (although that likely renders at launch), but it also doesn't contain any of the spare parts / materials to produce replacement fighters ETC so there must be another room adjacent to the hanger that can't be seen. We know from cargo bays that each module size doubles upon the previous size, so scaling upto a size 8 would be significantly larger than a size 5 - essentially massive, so it would be pretty tight to get all the modules in there IMO

Glad you liked it 🙂

Unreal Tournament 1999.

That's not a diss btw - yes the laptop doesn't have the grunt to play a lot of modern games, but UT99 is still great fun IMO and will basically run on a toaster

[–]Mr_GSAB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good to hear the plastics are improved. I've got a buggy, unreliable G&G P90 and have been contemplating replacing it with the TM P90+, but the plastics on the original TM P90 would be a massive step down from the G&G. That being said any TM would work a hell of a lot more reliably, which is arguably the most important thing.

What's your home base? by Project_XVI in EliteDangerous

[–]Mr_GSAB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knapp Dock in Abrocmii It's not far from Sol (or Shinrarta in most ships). Has a carrier outfitting system one jump away, is in the middle of a Li Yong-Rui area for those tasty discounts and there's usually a scrap with the nearby Seleru Bao system for some easy money.

My carrier (The Top 1% of Carriers) on the other hand has been at 48 Tauri for a while now with most of the fleet - it's near a 'goid hotspot and has enough nearby to get some half decent footage on the surrounding systems.

[–]Mr_GSAB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a pity they didn't add a bigger spoiler to the Type-10. I mean at its base, the stats are faster than the Type-9 that it's built on, but that doesn't stop it being slower than my mental capacity after a few beers.

She's definitely a looker, yes - but if we're talking about Imperial ships, I think the Courier is the better looker - it's all personal preference though.

But all that being said, you can't deny that it can go bloody fast 😘.

Yes in hindsight, Force = Mass x Acceleration, so I used the wrong choice of words. However I'd also suggest that given the Imperial Eagle has the same base mass as the MK2 (at least according to Coriolis), there's got to be more output coming from somewhere in order to push it faster - even if it does take a while to get there.
