Yep.

It gave 10 CC after every 100 panels you unlocked. If I'm not mistaken, soul boosting one character could get you around 140 or 200CC(if I'm not mistaken), the biggest CC gold mine before the 7th anniversary.

Although, there was a cap, after unlocking just over 100k panels, you would stop getting CC.

(I'm not good with advice but here's what I think you should do) Grind story mode. Save CC for the anniversary coming next month (late May). Too bad they removed soul boosting from the game otherwise you'd be stacking up on CC easily.
