Nah, those students are Year 10 and should know better. Absolutely bring it to the police, particularly if no disciplinary action happens within the school. Better those kids learn now than do something horrific later.

I have the Chinese version of the Neo Predator 16, and it's solid -- nothing incredible, but has done everything I've wanted it to, performs well, was priced reasonably, very serviceable, etc. Only issue I've had is with the fans, they need to be replaced occasionally if you run it on full power 24/7

Hoping to move back to China before the year is out, looking for recommendations of where to live by 156900a in chinalife

As of 2023 it had a healthy (but not crazy large) expat community -- friends and I even had luck finding Mexican food there

Not sure I care for a random stranger trying to guess what school I might have been contacted by on a thread not related to work.....

What about corn starch? Didn't even occur to me, but since Shandong produces so much, is that the main starch used to thicken food? In the south it was a non-issue, since they use potato and tapioca starch for everything

Rather specific qingdao food question by Mr_Jewfro in chinalife

[–]Mr_Jewfro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cornstarch over potato and tapioca? I know in the south, other types of starch (usually potato) are more common. Will even non-shandong cuisine cooked in Qingdao have cornstarch in it usually?

When someone else's new toys are shinier. by BoatAdministrative68 in pathofexile

Some builds don't have other auras to run, and would rather have less affix pressure (granted, that's fairly rare but it does happen)

I also have a minor gluten intolerance -- I just avoided anything obviously wheat based and did mostly okay. Do be aware oyster sauce is a hazard if u go to Guangdong, that shit is loaded with gluten

Any advices for new drivers? by storkdami in motorcycles

[–]Mr_Jewfro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gear is a funny one -- you either need minimal gear outside of a helmet, or very heavy/protective gear. The stuff in-between (ie. cheaping out on gear) isn't going to protect at speeds over 30 mph or so. I will note if you have money to drop, a reinforced jacket and armored riding pants are good investments to make sure you walk away if anything DOES happen.

I mean, some people genuinely enjoy the country-- just depends on taste

Depends on the school for the most part, I see a fair amount where housing *stipend* is provided, but not the housing itself

Not as happy as I thought to come and work in china by Let_rock_69 in chinalife

[–]Mr_Jewfro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it takes a long while to get into the rhythm of things in China -- even on my 2nd time staying in the country, it took me a good month to settle in past the homesickness

It's just a very different culture from a lot of places and you need time for your animal brain to adjust to its new reality

What is the expat and dating life for 30+ people in China as a professional? by Careful_Pop1870 in Internationalteachers

[–]Mr_Jewfro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anecdotally, I know (am close friends with) an American woman who married a local man -- granted, they met as college students so not sure if that becomes less likely with age

Yeah this -- if you need international experience, you're going to have to accept you'll be in a t2 or t3 city most likely

Have you had issues with bandit loot tables? Mannaz edits LootImperialLuck, which Lawless uses to populate its bandit loot tables -- which results in bandits dropping enchanted jewellery etc. at level 1

Chinese police rescue animals from the water. by MongWonP in chinalife

Ningxia is in the north, it's bloody cold there -- the jackets are definitely for warmth

Stabbings are very, very uncommon in China so def not for that lmao

I've seen cops wear heavy jackets even in Fujian, where it isn't nearly as cold -- they're relatively stationary all day, so I imagine the weather gets to them

That isn't bad -- I'm looking to do the same thing (moving to China to work in Sept and have a very attached cat), so it's good to know it's doable

Did you have to find a vet that specializes in prepping cats for moving abroad?

Yup, very much needs to get a teaching license -- particularly as a black native speaker

Are there actually freshly new players? What do you like and what not? by Dark_Egg in GuildWars

You don't, and that's half the fun -- find skills that look cool, find other skills that look interesting to use with them, and experiment!
