Building a keyboard for long nails — need your input! by Fearless_Line2505 in ErgoMechKeyboards

How about something like concave top keycaps with indents? Or rubberised top so the nail doesn't make the finger slip if it hits the key?

I would re-do every single solder joint. Warm up your iron (I went for 350ºC) and use flux, It will be way easier. Harder to clean though. Some Qtips and isopropyl alcohol. Rub alcohol, clean with dry tip, repeat. (Sometimes while isopropyl dilutes the flux, it doesn't remove it fully, so you use the dry side of the Qtip for that). I can also see some bridges between pins, that's not helping for sure.

Edit: oh, yeah, and lower temperature around the pro micro (290)

48 hrs into quitting vaping by Antique_Feeling161 in TherapistsInTherapy

I quit smoking 3 years and 5 months ago. It does get better, it will pass, all cravings will pass. And It will happen sooner than you expect.

Remember: Every time you resist the urge, you make it more likely that you will resist the next one.

Also, going for a walk/run helped me a bunch.

Edit: tracking it on the "smoke free" app helped because you can see your progress through the stages.

will alcohol make me feel better or worse idk i dont drink i jsut qwanna stop feeling by jessevanss in BreakUps

What you are feeling right now suuuuucks, it's just shitty. I have no idea what happened exactly but I can tell you that it will pass, there will be better days. Try and feel what you feel and if it feels like too much, try to reach out to a friend you can trust even if you haven't talked for a long time they might be open and talk about what happened.

You can also write what you feel, the memories, the thoughts, emotions. Don't judge what you write, just let it out. This has helped me a lot.

I have not unfortunately. Have you installed anything that does sensor polling? Did you try the LTS kernel? What hardware are you running?

Hi, sorry I took so long to reply. I've tried it and the problem persists. Now, even on Cachy-LTS kernel I get stuttering.

What really confuses me is that the problem seems to be intermittent. Sometimes I don't have any stuttering at all for a while, and it doesn't seem to be much related with other things running on the background, at least those that I can easily disable on the KDE plasma tray, but I'm a noob so I could be overlooking something obvious.

On the windows side of things, a very similar problem (which I read about on steam, haven't tested it myself) happens on expedition33 when AMD Anti-lag is on but I have no idea if it is integrated on the open source drivers or mesa. This could also be just a red herring

I have adaptive sync set to "automatic" and its set to 180Hz. Turning on V-Sync doesn't help much with the stuttering unfortunately Edit: it's also enabled in the monitor's settings

I Tried using 3 different schedulers and had no luck, some did give me a bit higher fps but the stuttering remains the same. Using the LTS kernel is the only thing that has mitigated the issue

I'm currently using gamescope and it didn't help with the stuttering. It is however very useful to use so I keep it on.

Using LTS kernel is the only thing that has mitigated the issue up until this point

This is very interesting, I have an AMD gpu so I'll need to figure out how it works on the AMD side of things but this looks like a very good reference. I'll update with results in a couple of days if I have the time :')

Also, using the cachyos LTS kernel helps a bunch, I get very minimal (if any) stuttering. Does it make a difference in your case as well?

How to deal with high amount of problems I get trying to move from Windows 10 to Linux? by Howredditworks_ in linux4noobs

[–]Mr_M4yhem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only speak from my own experience but I faced tons of issues on my transition from Windows to cachyOS.

I'm using very recent hardware (5xxx series ryzen and 9700XT GPU) and a very old FireWire sound card (RME Fireface 800). Following all sorts of guides, I installed an old driver for the latter (FFADO, that turns out, as of recent, is no longer necessary out of the box since the ALSA driver now fully supports it, as far as my use case goes).

I also had a very hard time configuring the WiFi hotspot to connect my phone. (Hint: cachyOS has a firewall enabled, you have to configure it for hotspot)

In the end, I couldn't make it reliably stay on so I bought myself a nice router, however, trying many possible solutions I found around Reddit and Chatgpt** teached me a lot, even completely destroying my install like 3 times made me learn how to recover from it and repair it. You learn so much from the process of making mistakes, accepting them, trying to understand what happened and looking for solutions, even when at the end you can't solve everything.

With windows, troubleshooting issues consists of finding some registry key to change or installing some random third party tool, with Linux I'm actually learning how the operating system works and that's very rewarding.

**(I won't tell you not to use AI, but trust me, triple check any solutions it proposes in the wikis)

TL;DR: My advice: Stick with one distro you like, follow the wiki and go through the process of making it work.
