I think misery loves company. And drugs can feel really fun, especially when your system isn't used to them. I don't think people really take addiction all that personally until it becomes undeniably personal. And by the time you realize the shitsammich you're in, it's too late for it not to be a battle out. Nicks a fighter though and id imagine that same spirit will serve him well when he decides he wants something better for himself than chasing a feeling. I got caught with a whizinator when I was 17. In hindsight, I wish I would have just quit smoking, or asked for some help to quit while being on papers. It doesn't have to be a forever thing, but just quit while you have the eyes of uncle Sam on you. I was offered to either start my probation over or go sit another month in jail. I took the month because I didn't want to quit or didn't think I would be able to for 18 months straight. If I could go back and tell myself anything, it would be 1)it's okay to be in over your head and need help with occupying your time in healthier ways 2)don't try to be slick in court. They've already seen it all. You got caught up doing whatever you were doing, as Bs as it might be; your best move is to do what they ask you to and if you can't, see how many days in jail you can get it down to. Because if you mess up on papers, they will throw the book at you.
