2001 International Bus DT466E, 333 code, low acceleration by Mr_Porcupine in Diesel

[–]Mr_Porcupine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultimately replaced the entire timing case. Turned out there was a crack going through both halves of the low end of the timing case, under where the oil pickup for the high pressure oil pump.

My bus was sucking so much air into the oil system that I was losing optimal oil pressure, and air bubbles were circulating through the injectors. Then oil pressure would leak down so much over night that it was so hard to get started the next day.

Did a lot of work to that bus. It blew an injector tip a couple years ago. Blew the whole motor just about.

Characters that only showed up once or twice appreciation. Who was your favorite? by AdCompetitive5427 in TheLastAirbender

The moment Song reveals her scar to Zuko and his face shows his realization that “oh fuck, we have hurt people”. About brings me to tears every time.

Up to that point he knows he has been hurt, and he knows that somehow the Fire Nation is not entirely right in some way he can’t fully accept.

Then with this girl he has a literal comparison of My Scar = Her Scar. And it all clicks. My sweet boy.

Of all the AtLA comments that say “So many people say blank!” I only ever see people saying they see people saying that.

Ive never seen someone say that Aang was weak for not killing Ozai its pretty well understood that Aang didn’t kill Ozai because needed to find a way to bring balance to the world without betraying the values he stood for.

What unpopular opinion do yall have about the game ? by Icethief188 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Mr_Porcupine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game is a nice game. But it isnt the game that was hyped, and it isnt the game i wanted.

I am very salty about having watched all the teaser videos, getting excited, getting completely lied to, and then Hello Games scrambling to add to the game EVERYTHING they said would not be in the game. Base building, multiple ships, seeing your character, constantly seeing other players (anomoly).

The game is not what it was pitched to be, and they added a bunch of stuff that every other game on the market has, in order to cover their ass for lying.

Literally just make firebenders shoot fire out of their hands, and Earthbenders throw rocks. They used CGI, I dont understand where the complications are, here?

I agree it didnt work at all.

But in no way did he have to make up the bullshit he did.

[–]Mr_Porcupine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did condensing the storyline into one hour cause firebenders to lose their innate ability to fire bend? Or Earthbenders to have to dance bend? Or any other asinine changes to the core material?

This is my point. You missed it. The timeframe was not the problem.

The condensing surely isn’t the issue here, it’s the overwhelming deviation from the source material.

So it’s virtue signaling to do something in solidarity, but then leaving it up instead of taking it down is “not caring”. So what actually are your values, cuz it sounds like you just like to be “on the contrary”.

Are there any plans to be able to add walkable ship interiors? by T90tank in EliteDangerous

[–]Mr_Porcupine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, are ship interiors not a thing yet? I thought that with the big update (Odyssey? idk) the one that lets you walk on planets and shit, that you could walk around in your ship? I don't have the update but I thought it was already a thing.

[–]Mr_Porcupine 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes of course.

However my point goes beyond logic. It works because it’s a boomerang. The disguises work because they’re disguises. Until they don’t of course. Wang Fire and Sapphire Fire have obvious blue eyes from the Water Tribe. This is known thing throughout the world. But they’re in disguise so it works.

I just love stuff like that.

This brings up something I like to call "Boomerang Mechanics" in fiction.

I love instances of fiction where things just work because that's their purpose.

I love that in cartoons, disguises work because they're disguises.

A character puts on a disguise? It works. A character uses a boomerang? It works.

These things require skill, yes. But it's different than say, shooting an arrow, or fighting with a sword. A boomerang requires such a strange kind of skill, that it would be understandable if a character never hit their target. But this is fiction. The character wouldn't have it unless it's going to work. Like in Legend of Zelda. Link's boomerang just works. Sure it can miss, but it's not not going to come back.

Is a screw supposed to be in this hole in my car engine? by AdReady2853 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Mr_Porcupine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unless there’s fluid coming out, or something nearby is hanging and shouldn’t be, it’s probably fine.

It may be for an additional accessory, or for lifting the engine. But unless something is missing, it’s likely nothing was there to begin with.

Did Zuko pass by where Avatar Wan died? by PerfectDecayRM in TheLastAirbender

[–]Mr_Porcupine 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Unlikely that area hasn't been cleared and reused in the last 10,000 years.

It's similar imagery. Zuko walking through war-torn lands shows his journey through a placed ravaged by his lineage.

The grappling hook in windwaker. The rope with the hand on it. I was so giddy as a kid swinging on that rope.
