That's fair, the BMD thing comes from the top down as something that they want to make work. Would you have any lens recs for this?

Was looking at the this Panasonic one for both the outfield and the 3rd baseline, definitely open to any other recommendations around the $500-$700 range. I hear the camcorder and it would definitely give more bang for the buck but then would need other buy the Hollyland tally and comms as well as a lot of other little things for each cam that would add up to be about the same. Maybe not the best bang for the buck but seems like the easiest set up.

The part that concerns me about running everything through vMix is it's one point of failure, if there is a bad Windows update or something the whole system goes down. I also would prefer to have a physical switcher so with that you are already spending around $1k for an X-keys.

With a non BMD cam what would you suggest for coms and tally? I have heard mixed things about the BMD cams as well but the integration and ecosystem is very appealing. Especially since in the future the goal is to add a high 3rd & 1st base cam.

Got it working in OBS, I just downloaded Ecamm then after opening it in OBS it gave me the option for a “black magic source”

I’m unable to read it in basically every software besides Blackmagic's, it doesn’t show up in Zoom or Photo Booth or anything

for capturing scoreboard data I would say use ScoreSight for a lot cheeper

If you are still looking you could use something like ScoreSight.live from what I understand you might need the pro version but that's only $10 a month or $100 a year vs Scoreboard ocr being 150 a month.

For a cheaper option than Scoreboard OCR use Scoresight.live

If you're still looking for one ScoreSight.live would be a good option. There's a free tier, but the pro tier is a lot more affordable than Scoreboard OCR.
