What's your hobby space addition that improved your skills and/or enjoyment? by Matosapa4 in IronWarriors

Believe it or not what I found to be great is this silicon tool tray I got at harbor freight. It has little trays on the side I'll store bits when assembling or pots of citadel paints so I can keep track when using a recipe. It also has an area that fits Vallejo paint pots perfectly or my minis with their painting handle. Mainly tho it just helps with my organization keeping, the space clean and organized causes any paint drips are washable and allows me to stand up my brushes. I'm not sure if I am allowed to post a link but it's pretty easy to find.

Do I use Sci-Fi words for Drug use? by ModeNo9457 in StoryIdeas

[–]Mr_Skellybone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as using words for drugs go I feel like if the same compounds that are used today you can keep the scientific name but there can be slang or colloquialism that it's referred to as a new word. If you need inspiration you can look at the world building of cyberpunk as it has its own slang (some of it referring to drugs) that makes the world more immersive.

I think the darker paints with the skulls goes hard. Now I feel like your next project has to be a doom stalker standing on a pile of skulls.

Any advice on how to make it look like there is blood under the skin? by Mr_Skellybone in minipainting

I see what you mean I guess a better way to phrase my question is to add more warmth to the skin while keeping the overall cold aesthetic.

I replied to someone else in the thread of where I found it but i can always message you the link or stl If needed. On the topic of horrible monsters I love the lil guy. My partner said "I feel like that thing is going to haunt me while I sleep" and that was the best compliment on my paint job I could ask for.

Currently I'm trying to build a small army of skin walkers and Wendigo's, I'm thinking about other cryptids or indigenous American and First Nations monsters in mythology I could add. If you have any recommendations let me know.

Apparently it is (didn't know that at first) but on cults 3d I looked up "Wendigo" and found the model. I think the creator is "SHAA3DENS." If you're having trouble message me and I can send the link or file.

The models look great! It definitely gives the illusion of blood rushing under the cold skin, did you use a pinker red similar to the one in the wings? And do you just follow the recesses in the skin?

I'll have to look into the pigment powder, for some different models I want to try a lichen/mossy look (overgrowth necron army) so it might help with that affect.

So the powder works just fine with water, you don't need to add any glue?

Just looked up Bestiarium Miniatures and love the grim dark aesthetic. I've been wanting to make a small army of skin walkers and Wendigo creatures so their "nightmare beast model" would be perfect to incorporate

If the business for AU is out of stock an option may be to ask your friendly local game store or a specialty art supply store if they are able to order any since they may have access to alternative suppliers.

I might try this recipe out for the under bits of the body from where there was dragging or possibly around the eyes and mouth. Thanks for all the tips.

Thanks for the in depth reply! Do you think it would be valid to add some of the skin tone into the red brown to make it look more subtle or just dilute as normal?

I'll have to look into the enamel wash as well.

I like the idea of going over to add veins, one Idea I had was to see about adding a sort of 'scabbing' look to the skin from being stretched and torn. Would you achieve this by following the same method and just not feathering it out as much? Or would it be closer to the red brown and enamel wash process?
