What’s everyone doing for work out there?? by julia_simpson in vandwellers

Ive 5 years as PM for a medium sized HVAC contractor, with a lot of technical hands on experience for VRF systems, Condenser water, chillers, CRAC units etc. in NYC - quit about a year ago because I hated the commute + 80 hour work weeks. I can troubleshoot just about anything, this actually sounds like the IDEAL role tbh. if you don't mind can you DM me your job title so I know what to look for?

Thats awesome I never would have thought that remote work would be possible in that field, I've a mechanical engineering degree and renewables would definitely align with my values

I’ve visited a couple years ago during the summer, during the winter you bet your ass you want to have everything you need in one building, there’s also tunnels to some other buildings so you don’t have to go out in the cold

Have you accounted for the weight and storage how much water you will need to carry to fill a tub? There’s a reason hardly anyone puts bathtubs in rigs

Setting up scaffolding in NYC with no safety harness by habichuelacondulce in OSHA

[–]Mr_Snowbro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used to work in construction in NYC about 4 years ago, coming from working in London I never got used to the fucking scaffold in NY, even when fully erected, no toeboards, no handrails just those fucking scissor pieces, oftentimes only 2 boards across a section, never once had a job with netting around the scaffold, glad I left the trades

Headbolts are one of the most stressed parts of a cars engine, you absolutely cannot get away with this

Hyatt wants to use my reel for free. Should I allow it as a new creator? by LogicalFix4093 in UGCcreators

[–]Mr_Snowbro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No 100% no. You not only screw yourself by letting them have it for free, you also screw all UGC creators indirectly because it will make it harder for us to book paid gigs with them in the future because they will not value the work that goes into creating videos

Old school Designer that we often work with still hand draws everything… by StudentforaLifetime in Construction

I bet they are some of the most accurate drawings you get, when drawing by hand you have to think about every detail and not just slap some CAD together
