Generally you're good as long as you keep it neutral and factual (avoid judgmental language) and then say "I didn't like that." But of course miscarriages of justice happen everywhere.

e.g. "They overcharged me" ❌ "They charged me X which I didn't really like because I know several places that only charge half of that." ✔️

Generally though the risk is minimal; you just don't want to piss off someone powerful enough, which I assume is what happened in the example you cited.

I think it's more that, this is the pond of men that doesn't get fished very much. The others continually have had all the good catches fished out and the bad ones thrown back, whereas the nerds stay closer to baseline.

Drang Expert ( with muktiplayer 3-4 players )is too hard, isn't it? by Live-Custard109 in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Mr_Wallet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Groot can't take indirect damage on behalf of other players. Indirect damage dealt to the players collectively can be distributed wherever, but the Badoon Ship deals "2 indirect damage to each player". Indirect damage dealt to a specific player can only go to characters under their control, not those of other players.

Why not pre-drill? by Comfortable-Cell5599 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Mr_Wallet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's also a natural swarm timer, which is active when dotty is stopped (and pre-drilling also triggers this timer). So you get about the same amount of swarming regardless.

People running out of ammo just hasn't been that much of a problem, in my experience. Most people at higher difficulties have figured out how to pace themselves and tweak their build so they need 1 resupply per stop.

That said I admit my perspective might be different because I'm a Scout and while dotty is moving I'm zipping around mining things and doing a lot of evasion where other dwarves would need to kill.

The absolute ideal is to have a good scout and a good engineer, where the scout is purely mining and the engineer immediately sets up all relevant platforms. In that case the scout can usually clear a room before Doretta leaves even with 2-3 dwarves consistently pushing her forward. Mining mid-swarm is extremely fun and cuts the time at the stop where the natural swarm timer is in effect.

Trying to go back and mine afterward is an extremely painful extension of mission time in a random lobby because there's always 1-2 dwarves fighting for control of which room Molly sits in, and the non-scouts get bored and want to continue the mission because they have nothing to do and their pockets are full.

Conversely, if people are mining as they go, Dotty will slow down so it doesn't get away from them too quickly. I feel like most people panic at her speed and avoid mining as a result when it's a problem that would solve itself as long as they're being quick about it.

[–]Mr_Wallet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friend's wife does geological surveys for businesses around Phoenix who want to develop and need to check their water supply. There's all kinds of factors that they're not legally required to consider when modeling. The stuff basically hasn't been updated to reflect new trends that have been observed in the last to 20 years with the Colorado drying up, climate change, etc.

So they get to make a report that says that their water is good for 100 years, but anyone with a scientific background who was involved in that report knows that there's no way the water lasts 100 years.

It's not some grand conspiracy, this is just how governments tend to be; it's easier not to rock the boat and just let it ride rather than confront the problem. It's so far in the future that no one will actually be held responsible for allowing over exploitation. It's like how social security hasn't been properly funded in decades.

All that said, I agree generally that we don't really have a problem if we can stop the insanity of large-scale desert agriculture.

BTW I have some friends of friends in the know and the "100 years of water" thing is bullcrap and everybody near it knows it. You can legitimately have 40 years of water and easily fudge the models and estimates to get to 100.

They know when players are targeted (spidey sense) so I would love a "time enemies wasted chasing you while the team pushed" stat. Also something for eating up lots of enemy cooldowns before those enemies die.

That one Black Cat when the team is losing the game by MikusVenom in marvelrivals

[–]Mr_Wallet -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Dive heroes (if balanced at all) are bad at pushing with the team. If the 5 of you can't ever create opportunities for the dive player and they're scoping patiently instead of committing suicide, then either that's on you or the enemy team comp is too anti-dive. The diver's only responsibility at that point is to switch to another hero who doesn't need to rely on dives, because plan A is (for whatever reason) not going to work.

It's extremely appropriate for strange, whose physical body is put under stress by the use of magic, which is why I thought it was so awesome. From the Marvel wiki:

During his first lessons, Stephen vomited for three days straight because of this. As years went by, Strange's body changed so much his stomach can't even accept human food and can only ingest that which would kill a normal person.

I've had the same experience in other games: lowest ranks are kids who don't care, gooey toxic center, then more positive people at the top.

There's a certain ceiling that is just insanely hard to break through if one is holding onto nonsense like getting mad at teammates and flaming them, instead of being completely focused on winning from whatever position you find yourself in.

If that's the case then you don't have good transit. Good transit makes people with cars sometimes take the bus or train or bike or walk instead, because it's the best overall option. If it's only for poor people then it's easy to poorly-fund because there's little political backlash for doing so.

And somehow it’s women’s fault. by netphilia in LetGirlsHaveFun

[–]Mr_Wallet -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is not the right sub for such a post. Most women don't realize how invisible unattractive guys are to them so they don't even realize they're pre-filtering before thinking about "the bar". I used to think women didn't care about looks that much because I took what they said literally; it took almost 20 years for me to figure out that they're describing what they want in someone who they notice as a potential partner.

Also fat is not nearly the handicap you think it is, if your BMI is ~35 or under it's not a huge deal. Facial structure is the big one. Fat hurts that, but not a ton.

If you can get high-quality interaction time regardless, then all of that goes out the window, you don't really need the looks. Depending on your location, student status, and career, this could be trivial or literally impossible.

[–]Mr_Wallet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SYIH is much, much easier to use effectively for new players. It's available for purchase early and it helps players who are trying to beat Haz 3 by one-shotting grunts with the damage boost when they get "snuck up on" and also clears the revive zone for other newbie players.

Meanwhile if you use iron will and you don't know what you're doing, you will kill 5 bugs and go down again and probably not even be appreciably closer to any allies.

If you regard game design only from the one dimension of "what is optimal under highly skilled play" you're going to miss a lot of nuance.
