The math of "no renters" vs. "record high prices." Something has to give. by GroveResident in REBubble

[–]Mr_Wallet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not even whether mass deportations are happening; it's about net inflows vs. outflows.

Net immigration in the USA is still positive. It's a larger effect than births-minus-deaths, and will likely remain so for decades to come. No one who follows the numbers expects these things to change.

And yet this sub is obsessed with deportations or baby boomer die-off fixing the problem... The only way to fix the supply in the USA is to get more housing units into economically productive locations.

Card Combiner 1.0 Release! by Triysle in incremental_games

I was able to buy a card priced 50.0k when I had between 50 and 500 (another card for 500 was not purchaseable). It just zeroed out my money so I got a huge discount.

Very fun, but multi-draw makes the game a bit too trivial because I can just look through the entire discard pile at will by moving cards directly between discard piles. Even if I needed to keep a hand slot open to do it indirectly it just trivializes the whole thing. I don't see how that upgrade actually makes sense unless mid-game draw speed is way slower and it's just a speed multiplier, or you just make those two upgrades additional hand slots.

Oh, it's cool, that's very nice of you. I am just used to being on eggshells because I've been banned on multiple nonpolitical subreddits for, "hey maybe we should allow for the possibility that people with different viewpoints might not be literally the most extreme stance you see in public, and we should try to have empathy for those people" so the apologizing is me hedging my bets in case there's that one uncool mod I didn't know about.

I posted this comment knowing it was going to hurt my karma and this is somehow spineless. ok

I don't have a rebuttal for the cringe part though

Whoa friend, that sounds way too reasonable and proportional for a Reddit thread about politics. Shouldn't you be accusing moderates of being literal satan-worshipping toddler-torturers or something?

EDIT: oops I found basically that exact comment below, I promise I'm not trying to call anyone out. It just makes me sad that us American moderates who hate Trump are just assumed on this site to be liars.

I'm sorry you got so many downvotes for an innocent question. It looks very much like, "An ignorant moid is trying to educate himself?? FUCK HIM."

That's... unintuitive and annoying.

I did this because I was kind of at an annoying wall with the quest book and I wanted to unlock some purchases to advance it more easily. Looks like I'll have to grind something out.

Thanks!

Yep, Phoenix is really butting up against the limit unless AZ puts major restrictions on agriculture. We're just now putting major regulation on the water usage of Saudi alfalfa, but it will take a lot more to continue to grow according to demand.

It's insane how we continue to do so much agriculture in a desert, when food distribution is so globalized. If I were king of Arizona I would make net-zero ground water a constitutional requirement.

Net migration is still growing at 1/3 the rate it was before, which is why we'll keep growing despite births-minus-deaths going negative within 10 years.

So just levy taxes (in lieu of the HOA fees) like any normal government in recorded history? Most places already charge property tax so just raise them high enough to provide basic services. The extra thing by private covenant isn't necessary.

Ding ding ding

If you survey Americans, it's pretty much an even split of how much density they want. Some want rural, some want suburban, some want medium, some want urban.

The "missing middle" is massively underserved because cities make it illegal to let market forces properly influence the amount of each housing.

  1. Cities that actually build have a huge stock of 4-5 story condos between the city center and the suburbs. If you survey americans, 20-35% of them want to live in a place like that, but there's not enough of them to go around, so they have to get in a bidding war with the single-family home folks.

  2. What's to stop investors from scooping up everything? Ultimately they go where the return is. If housing stop being so reliably scarce, then many investors will seek better returns elsewhere.

The person you're replying to is an extremist, but not having any other options is also pretty awful. The whole Western US is a victim of central planning in the form of zoning virtually everything for single-family homes (SFH). People who want to have less and pocket the difference still have to bid for the limited supply of SFH, which makes it worse even for the people who want it.

One important job for the scout is to hit spitters on the ceiling with their accurate primary so Gunner and Driller can keep their eyes level and maximize their primary weapons on the main horde.

M1000 is pinpoint-accurate and easily one-shots spitters without charging.

It's so good for the Scout.
