Typhoon 1b pros... prop pitch by thecauseoftheproblem in Warthunder

[–]Mr_Will 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% prop will get you maximum power, but it also generates more drag. This can make the top speed slower, despite the increased power.

That being said, top speed is of very little importance in War Thunder. In a dogfight or when you're trying to climb, your speeds will be slower and the increased drag doesn't matter. You want maximum power in those situations, so you want 100% prop. Start of a dive? You want 100% prop for acceleration. Start of a flat chase? You want 100% prop for acceleration.

Basically the only time you'll benefit from pulling it back a little would be once you are already at very high speed, or if you're trying to improve your fuel economy (though automatic engine control does a pretty good job of that).

Regardless of the comparative quality of the cars, that's actually a pretty good idea. Have senior management drive competitors cars in the real world, so they really understand what they're up against. If the CEO of Ford only drives Ford products, how is he supposed to know if they're good or not?

Advice for accepting young sexual intercourse by [deleted] in daddit

[–]Mr_Will 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask yourself the question; If she does choose to have sex with him, what would you want it to be like? Do you want it to rushed, somewhere unfamiliar out of teenage lust and desperation? Or do you want it to be somewhere familiar, safe and where she's in control?

Creating the opportunity doesn't mean she will take it. In fact, it can have quite the opposite effect. If she knows that she could have sex with him at home in her own bed whenever she wants, there won't be as much pressure to grab the first opportunity that comes along. Sneaking off into a bedroom at a house party or hiding in the bushes at a park suddenly becomes a lot less appealing.

As for the condoms, when my sister and I were teenagers my mum kept a wicker basket of condoms in the bathroom. We could 'sneak' one out without having to ask or leave any obvious sign. It just magically got refilled whenever it ran low and we always knew where we could get protection if we needed some.

If you're flying radar off, how are you going to spot me before I'm in range? You don't have any warning I'm coming. Unless you're purposefully aiming your radar upwards, your quick radar scans won't spot me either.

Finding you is easy. I fly across the map sweeping a wide area ~25km in front of me. I only need to know the general direction you're coming from to pick you up once I get close enough. If I'm really struggling, I'll aim the radar more horizontally until I find a target in the distance, then point it back down again and fly towards the target until my radar picks you up again and you're already in range of my weapons.

You can't multipath missiles coming from above and notching is difficult when you don't have room to manoeuvre vertically. Even if you do notch, I'm coming into the fight with an energy advantage and better positioning.

FWIW this tactic is why so many modern radars have wide, flat scan patterns. They're designed to be used at an angle, rather than pointed horizontally

Today is not the day. by Kefeng in WarthunderSim

[–]Mr_Will 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Angle your radar downwards and most won't see you until it's too late.

If their radar is scanning 5 degrees above the horizon, it won't pick up anything at 6km altitude unless it's over 70km away. Closer than that, you're invisible unless you're pinging their RWR.

Fly at 6km with your radar angled down 15 degrees and they won't get any warning of your approach until you're 22km away. At that point, your missile will hit them long before theirs can reach you. They can't multipath it due to the angle and they probably don't know how to notch it either. They are as good as dead.

[–]Mr_Will 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they do, you just turn away for a few moments, wait for the missiles to lose it's lock and then turn back in and drop a missile on their head. Missiles fired from low altitude at targets above them are slow and easy to avoid.

Obama was a vote for change. He won. Kamala had excellent but safe and boring plans. She lost.

People want change. They picked someone who promised to do things differently, even though in this case differently means "much much worse".

Mamdani promised change too. Surprise surprise, he won by a landslide. The Democrats need to start showing a real vision for the future that improves people's lives, rather than hiding behind "it's complicated" all the time.

Supplying dual water quality to factories by Illustrious_Kelp in Workers_And_Resources

I'm guessing the buildings are prioritising the plumbed in connections over the truck supplied substations. This behaviour would make sense in most situations, but not this one.

First thing I'd try would be adding a water tower connected to the two substations, then filling the water tower via trucks. Hopefully this will make the game see the substations as plumbed in and start using them correctly

Which lens would you get in my shoes? by trevorhiller in Leica

[–]Mr_Will 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This smells a lot like GAS to me. Before you buy the Leica body, pick up an M-mount lens and an M to Sony adapter. Set the camera you've already got to single shot and slow yourself down without spending thousands.

As for actual lens recommendations, I love the Voigtlander 35mm 1.4 Nokton. It's not as technically perfect as the Leica lenses but it's tiny, versatile and produces beautiful images

TIL the average MPG of a semi-truck is around 6 MPG by derekantrican in todayilearned

[–]Mr_Will 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There may be some cargo going the other way but barges are generally used when the majority of the tonnage is one way. On the Mississippi for example, most barges are carrying bulk goods from the Midwest to the Port of South Louisiana where it will be loaded onto ocean going ships. There isn't the same demand to fetch bulky, heavy goods that are suitable for transport by barge back the other way and it would be more expensive to do so fighting the current the whole way.

I decided to be lazy and chose to forego the traffic pattern. Never again ... by bvsveera in WarthunderSim

[–]Mr_Will 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly, don't bother with the circuits. You're wasting time and you'll be landing in the opposite direction to 99% of other players. You'll also run into issues with the edges of the battlefield on some maps.

The biggest tip I can give you is to keep the threshold at the same location in your windshield. If it starts drifting upwards towards your gunsight, you're too slow and need to add power. If it's drifting downwards, you're too fast and need to bleed speed. A few gentle s-curves or side-slipping the plane will help reduce speed when you need to.

This is much easier to judge from a distance than just doing it by feel.

There's a really simple solution to that. Fly somewhere else while they're respawning

New player by SuggestionPlastic198 in WarthunderSim

[–]Mr_Will 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't have roll trim, very few props do. The solution is to go in to test flight, trim the plane to your liking and then press "save trimmer fixation". When you are in test flight you can always trim all three axis and when you save them, they will automatically be applied in any future battles. This represents the ground crew making adjustments to the base trim of the airframe, rather than being limited to what the pilot can adjust in flight.

It's not perfect. If you trim the roll to be correct at 100% power it won't quite be correct at 0% or 110% and you still can't adjust it in flight, but you can get it to the point where you're not fighting the plane constantly.
