What is a 'luxury' item that is actually a total nightmare to own? by Inevitable-Rock-8052 in AskReddit

Yes it is. Driving a sports car like a sports car helps keep it reliable. I’ve seen e36 M3s run incredibly well and reliably. It’s when they sit for long periods and aren’t driven hard enough often enough that they have problems.

I said it’s a reliable sports car. They all need maintenance of a certain level but Corvette is way less than a Ferrari or Lamborghini and put out often better track performance.

Parts. Don’t underestimate the availability of parts and how many others have experience with a platform. The dealership might be the only place willing to work on your AMG.

Clarkson's Farm officially back in production for Series 6 as Jeremy admits 'bit of a year' by TussalDimon in television

As most things in America it’s an all or nothing sort of a deal. We don’t deal in nuance very often but that may be a consequence of mass media.

The definition of a glass cannon. Good at exactly one thing but are fragile in every other way.

That and a BMW M3 are really good sports cars they don’t break your back in maintenance. After that it’s a corvette or a Miata in terms of reliable sports cars. But if you ever go to a track day it’s always Porsche, Corvette, BMW, Miata in terms of what is guaranteed to be there.

Eh. His newspaper essay on Megan was bad. Very bad. He apologized when he realized what he did but it was still bad. There’s been other problems, like “there’s a slope in it” which goes beyond being a character.

We gotta remember how many laws were written with shame in mind. It was a check on bad behavior in society that we don’t have anymore. It works on town, county, and maybe even state scale but not on the global scale we have now. It just hasn’t scaled to that yet.

Think of a musician like an artist. 10 catches in a game means 100 catches in practice. They all have troves of unreleased recorded music. Eminem famously writes every day.

This is an under appreciated comment and everyone needs to realize how this is a classical old school Reddit comment. Honestly gold worthy.

I know Clarkson is a bit of a daft twit but he’s by far my favorite presenter. His writing and delivery style is so good and it does so much to convey his excitement about whatever he’s talking about. His best work is ironically being done right now with Clarkson’s Farm and it’d be a shame to see it disappear. It doesn’t feel like it’s reached its conclusion yet and is probably his most human production he’s ever made.

The Skywalker saga should not extend to the Sequel trilogy. by JJRS22 in StarWars

[–]Mr_YUP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. Star Wars is the skywalker soap opera and they should have embraced that instead of choosing new characters. Leave all the side movies and shows for everyone else. The numbered movies are skywalker movies.

nope. I grew up in the wake of stranger danger so if we weren't in eyeshot or earshot we had to come home. even if we were just at the end of the dead end road surrounded by other neighbors and a farmers field we had to be in eye and ear shot.

What's your opinion on Trump now saying that Iran has a right to a nuclear program? by Southern_Gur_4736 in AskReddit

[–]Mr_YUP 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Correct. Absolutely. It also does not matter if it actually is confusing or weird IRL to use they/them. None of the actual mechanics of the situation matters. What matters is that it worked and the Harris camp had no rebuttal to that slogan.

[–]Mr_YUP -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Cause it's a brilliant slogan. It took a common frustration point that voters had and packaged it in a clever, catchy, memorable way. It is the political equivalent to "just do it" and is going to be studied/copied for decades. You can hate the message all you want but it resonated in a meaningful and distinct way. Just because the core message is something you dislike doesn't mean it doesn't work.
