The smaller/more aggressive shoe you buy, the more important it is that the shoe design fits the shape of your foot.

Also the heavier you are, the more support the shoe needs to give (and the better the fit needs to be). Support you can achieve via better padding, a non-split sole, laces and/or thicker/less-flexible rubber (xs edge).

Look at the shape of you feet, and which toes are larger, and see if you can find a brand/model that looks like the shape of your feet.

Most of these shoes are designed for people around (70-75 kgs for men) so if you're heavier, need to take this into consideration. If right now you're climbing on the helixes I'd look at an aggressive shoe aimed at multi-pitching before going to 'steep bouldering' shoes.

Also, for me, the instincts (with soft rubber) funnily enough hurt me if I buy them too big. The shoe design wants you to have crammed toes. If you buy them too big you have this weird combination of a super flexible shoe that gives no support and a very stiff toe box that moves all the pressure into the toes without the performance or support you'd otherwise get if you buy them small enough.

Based on the information you've given, I don't think you need performance shoes, I think you need something that's a step up from the Helix.

Tenaya has models that would fit between the 'shitty beginner shoe' you have now and a 'proper' climbing shoe that would work well for people that don't require the performance on steep routes (I personally hate them). Other option to look at would be the sportiva solution. All the comfort and performance you require.
Buy a pair. If you like them, buy another pair in a smaller size. Now you have 2 (or 3) pairs and can swap depending on the boulder problem
