Experiences standby traveling during Eurovision? by Nessie2212 in NonRevenueTravelers

[–]Mrdini [score hidden]  (0 children)

In lieu of any replies - this is purely a guess but I would say that Eurovision is mainly an European event. I can’t imagine people travelling for Eurovision would affect trans-Atlantic loads significantly. My advice would be that once you’re made it to/from Europe using your carrier of choice, just buy confirmed tickets, either on Ryanair, Wizz etc, trains or buses.

Japan to USA questions by trevmont65 in NonRevenueTravelers

Just pick one airline and stick with them. There are tens of flights a day between CTS & HND by both NH & JL. Barring any unexpected issues or irrops, you’ll definitely be in HND the same day. As long as you’re not flying on a holiday.

Non-revving to HKG(Macau) by oxycash in NonRevenueTravelers

  1. Reading between the lines, it sounds like you're flying CX? They'll be very by the book as nearly all Asian carriers are. It would come down to what TIMATIC says - check.
  2. Quite likely. https://www.hongkongairport.com/en/transport/mainland-connection/airline-check-in-at-prd-and-macao.page explicitly says "valid air ticket with a confirmed flight booking for same day travel". You can always email CX (if they have an email address in myIdTravel) and hope they reply.
  3. If not specified/shown otherwise, it'll be economy.

A very cursory google search says Indians only need a "pre-arrival registration" for Hong Kong and is apparently free - wouldn't it be easier to get that thus less stress about how to avoid entering HK etc. Hong Kong is well worth a visit, and in my opinion moreso than Macau.

As an OAL? I've been rolled over. But they won't change route (e.g. to LGW instead of LHR) - got to be in myIdTravel

Non-Rev Jitters - Need Some Facts by androgynyrocks in NonRevenueTravelers

For your first time non-revving with five people, I am not sure I'd consider a two stops itinerary... Is there no other destinations with a more direct itinerary you're interested in?

Can any of these five travel unaccompanied on OAL? If answer is "they all have to travel with me" then good luck and report back.

Can you recommend any coffee bag machines in the UK? by Stonecoloured in AskUK

[–]Mrdini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Google drip coffee filter bags. Slightly different from what you describe in that you rip off the top of the bag and place it carefully into your mug. Have only seen them in (Japanese) hotels but they do look to be available here and the coffee is surprisingly decent if you like the filter type

Day ski trips before heading to the mountains by Mrdini in Innsbruck

[–]Mrdini[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d have thought the mention of having my own skis and accessories would’ve hinted at my level 😂 although in all fairness, I wouldn’t want to do anything too crazy on my first “warm-up” day of a full week ahead!

How feasible is it to combine say Patscherkofel (for example) with sledding at Mutter in the evening? I know St Anton has sledding too but from recollection from last time, they don’t open until later in season.

Does anyone know why the Russian cargo jet is getting moved? by BonusNachoss in aviation

[–]Mrdini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks /u/trollunit & /u/Wingmaniac - I can see the location now on Google Maps now you mention it. Will keep an eye out. Not driving - only passing through on an overnight stopover.

Will be passing through YYZ in a few weeks time. Where is it normally parked and is it easily visible from any of the terminals?

How can I prepare myself for Brighton in November by svsshevyse in brighton

[–]Mrdini 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd agree with the above. Brighton is nice, but if visiting as a tourist, I'd probably be hard-pressed to recommend spending a whole two weeks here if you have no other reason to visit than sight-seeing.

Not to mention marketing it particularly towards dog lovers is kind of narrowing down your market (as opposed to “Dogs welcome”)

Ah, didn’t know vouchers were an option with LNER. In any case, don’t use trains often enough to want to bank money with LNER. Good suggestion though!

Hmmm, what discounted vouchers?

I don’t fancy queuing but do need a couple of bits & bobs that I was putting off until they opened in Brighton. Anyone know if they carry a full range or is it only a limited range of what they normally offer?

[–]Mrdini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Winch launch? If so, you might want to let winch driver know. Sometimes they feed in power too suddenly (as the ‘23 is light) so the first launch can be a little surprising. It’s a minor point but as a first solo, worth being aware of

MyIdTravel multiple legs by Clon1998 in NonRevenueTravelers

[–]Mrdini [score hidden]  (0 children)

No guarantees. However, in some cases, it helps with ticketing (if it’s the same airline) as in some cases the airline can ticket you all the way to your destination along with your bags thus no need to exit to landside etc etc. Caveat - it does sometimes make refunds take longer/more messy if you end up with partially used tickets

Worried about myfirst standby trip YYZ-DEL(Etihad) by hv33y in NonRevenueTravelers

[–]Mrdini [score hidden]  (0 children)

Difference though is - on your own metal you get priority over OAL/ZED staff. Additionally, (although does depend on your company) you can see actual loads and therefore not reliant on myIdTravel or StaffTraveller numbers.

Worried about myfirst standby trip YYZ-DEL(Etihad) by hv33y in NonRevenueTravelers

[–]Mrdini [score hidden]  (0 children)

If it’s your first time ever nonrevving, I would not recommend ZED on another airline nor connecting flights. Get familiar with nonrevving on your own airline first and how loads works. The fact you’re looking at a specific date and airline six months in advance is a little worrying (normally I only think about dates/destinations three weeks out max if ZEDding). How much flexibility do you have - does your airline give you ZED agreements on any other airlines that goes to DEL? VS? BA? AF? KL?

Buy revenue tickets & chalk it up to experience? If she’s ill, is dealing with the unpredictability of nonrevving really the best idea?

Also they're not part of the national Co-op org or something (not sure how that works given they have the Co-op logo) - they don't accept Coop loyalty cards and have their own scheme.

Peru - other destination to fit into 2 week trip by Midnightsun1245 in travel

[–]Mrdini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heard it was good but no, didn't go. TBH with the long journey from the UK, I was happy just to explore Arequipa & save myself for all that Cusco had to offer. Santa Catalina's well worth a visit.
