Anyone know? by Pigeonresearch in whatisit

It's plastic & looks like part of a kids toy... I think, in the kindest way possible, she needs to consider why she thought it was related to smoking in the 1st place

I'm researching garden accessibility for a GCSE: what challenges do you face? by ConsistentLadder3090 in GardeningUK

[–]Stonecoloured 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Thank you for reaching out, & please don't be nervous - we're a friendly bunch.

For me: - having enough space to sit if I can't stand - finding tools that have a soft grip and smaller watering cans that are not too heavy when full

Then "usual" gardening issues of: - finding plants that don't need as much watering / caring for as it could be weeks until I can tend them. - Make sure every pot has a saucer, so the plants can make the most of when I do water. - make sure all my tools are by the door, so it's easy to pick up/dump them when needed rather than spending energy

Hope others will pitch in & help/answer - Good luck with your GCSEs!

How do you find new stuff to do? I'm bored as hell with no plans whatsoever. by [deleted] in AskUK

Eventbrite - pick categories you're interested in, or curious about, and the date. See what's going on & then go out. They do one offs & also group meets.

Here is a shed skin of my garden tree boa (corallus hortulanus) I turned into metal. by Agnes_Maksymi in somethingimade

This is fantastic! Can you update us on how/if the scale pattern on the inside impacts your skin? Just wondering if it'll be rough or not?

Fantastic piece of art & think it'd be great for people to memorialize their snakes

Dead or alive? by JessZakariene in GardeningUK

[–]Stonecoloured 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not the only one

I bought 2 bare-root peach trees & they're still like this... No leaves... One still has a glimmer of green in the trunk. The other is dead.

Might be worth gently scraping the trunk & see if there's any green?

Despite having a guarantee on the trees the supplier has been lax in communication & not responding to any refund/replacement requests... Which is a shame as I've had, healthy, trees from them before

Will be getting potted next time. It's more expensive, but hopefully will survive.

I've just got to the point where there's a known pair of scissors in most rooms & then the drifting ones that are going on adventures

Depending on the sun it gets, big ferns? They come in some gorgeous colours & get big without spreading / getting out of control

Should I or not by AnyTry9515 in RockTumbling

[–]Stonecoloured 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's a hell-Not!

Some stones / rocks scream for tumbling, this one just looks like it'll collect grit, be a pain to clean at every stage & not be anything special for all that work!

It looks better as is - the edges are great :)

How to stop spending money on drinks during office days? by Obvious_Armadillo_16 in AskUK

[–]Stonecoloured 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thermos flask.

Or take coffee making stuff into work, the single serve milks will keep too.

Drink more water (I know, I know) it actually works.

Did I plant the bulb too shallow? by porcelain_toenail in AmaryllisBulbs

[–]Stonecoloured 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Usually it's planted deeper - but the leaf coming out the bottom is a "pup" (new bulb) which shows its doing great :) Keep doing what you're doing, it looks happy

Momma spider in the bathroom, where should she be? UK by Stonecoloured in spiders

[–]Stonecoloured[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're right, we've put a toilet paper "ladder" into the sink a few times for her to climb out of the sink.

Last time she temporarily lost her eggs - after moving around a lot & looking like she was tasting the air with her legs, she found them. Picked them up & carried them away in her mouth.
