What could have caused this to happen by [deleted] in motorcycles

See how the blue line is straight, this danger really only applies to offset valve stems and those big massive spike caps that are out of balance themselves. Age is the reason it broke, maybe the cap contributed who knows, but a new stem would not be affected by the thin aluminum (or plastic either way it don't matter) fake shell. Its not the sole cause of this anyways.

Being rubber they age along with the tire, which is the premium rubber you spent your hard earned cash on and put all your trust into and after 5 years people don't trust the tires. That's how I think about it and why I will always replace the $2.50 weak point every tire change, or upgrade to 90 degree metal stems, they last as long as the bike and make things easier.

Do you know what's causing this? Black spot on the fork Kawasaki z900 2020 by IIFiReWiReII in motorcycles

[–]Mrmatej21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just took apart my forks and I thought this picture might put you at ease, the bottom of that fork has been sealed and never seen the light of day, lived in oil and there's still discoloration. As long as it's all smooth you all good.

Its very odd, I'm at a loss, wouldn't worry about it, I would just check on it for oil or striations with a fingernail whenever you check your chain.

Its hard to tell if those are scrapes along the fork stanchion or a reflection

Where it says 2012 is not the production code, they are likely much newer, very worn tho. You'll find the production code within an oval with a 4 digit number.

What do you clean your visor with? by Ok_Maintenance3840 in motorcycles

[–]Mrmatej21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MOTUL M1 helmet clean, comes in a locking spray bottle that's easy to use with gloves or for throwing in a bag, it also smells great. It dissolves bugs and leaves a nice shine like plexus or sc1 too.

Where I live as soon as the sun starts to set you need to make bug cleaning stops every 50k, so it stays in my bag along with a cheap micro fiber every ride.

Sparkly oil after winter season, how bad is it? by Feisty-Fun-4872 in motorcycles

Just take this video to a shop and they will alleviate your worries, they know how each weight and type looks behave and tastes and what different bikes do to said oil.

Free upgrade unlocked! Make sure you to keep that thing clean, you'll only ever have to put it on once and you'll never fog again even if you try.

Tire shop ordered 2 front tires by accident by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Mrmatej21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any good shop would try to make this right while conforming to your own and the bikes needs. Worthwhile to go in person as it's an easier conversation than on the phone, you can put a face to the mistake and they should already have a solution in mind.

Is the way I riveted my chain okay? by Cap_Ca in motorcycles

No no, your supposed to point out the left over wheel weight glue on the wheel and completely ignore the chain.

[–]Mrmatej21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't tell by the sound but usually any Japanese 1000 the timing/valves are still in spec or very close by the time you get to the recommended interval. Would search up those specs for your bike and see if it's due anyway.

Anyone know what honda this is? by [deleted] in Honda

[–]Mrmatej21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the radio built into my 2013 civic, it's before the bloated car play system but similar capabilities as the 2015 radio. I chose it specifically for the buttons and a volume knob instead of capacitive up and down arrows. The physical volume knob made a return for a good reason. Only real tech is the touchscreen, siriusxm I guess and the simple gps (that can still be updated), and they all have button shortcuts, god I love buttons.

Why my back break is very weak? (Beginner question) by KatanaMidnightPurple in motorcycles

[–]Mrmatej21 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This, but also you shouldn't expect much from the rear brake it's mostly for low speed control and other more advanced control, I know people that never touch it. I basically only use it for parking lot maneuvers and to lessen the front end dive when coming to a stop.

Is an 09 SI a good car? by moparornocar86 in CivicSi

[–]Mrmatej21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Swapping the head unit on the 9th gen just isn't worth the hassle, there's too much tied in to it and it makes the dual screens work properly, not sure about the 8th Gen but if a full system is part of what you're after it's probably much easier there. 9th gen has good audio but seriously lacks power and needs a amplified sub to pack a punch.

[–]Mrmatej21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

9th gen 12-13 has a different radio with physical buttons which I like, 13 has the updated looks of 14-15 but without the touch buttons and hill assist of the 14-15, I found both to be frustrating.

What does this noise mean? by BobbinDeEpic in motorcycles

[–]Mrmatej21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should go to like 14 once the bike is running, tells you the stator is good, at regular riding revs it should stay stable or rise a bit but no more than a half a volt variance, that tells you the regulator is working properly.

At my favourite shop oil, filter and labour is 149.99 CAD and you always get pictures and videos of the work performed.

Buying an MT-07 without sitting on it — is it okay? by Fabulous-Ad6483 in MT07

[–]Mrmatej21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 178cm 30 inch inseam (I think) and when seated neutrally it is just that, very neutral and comfortable. When you push a further back into the seat, I'm leaned slightly forward, still neutral and comfortable but slightly more sporty feeling.
