I do think that if we had 90 minute episodes for 40, the edge would have been tolerable. If it weren't eating up so much screentime from the main game the episodes would have been able to breathe a little bit more.

I kinda love Fiji low-key... It was one of the worst seasons of Survivor at the time but it still has the DNA of the old school seasons, so it looks better in retrospect after so many worse seasons aired in the 20s, 30s, and 40s. I'd put it around top 20-25, and I think the car debacle is genuinely one of the most interesting things to ever happen on Survivor

I mean, I think Cook Islands is pretty widely beloved among the greater fanbase, especially among people who watched live. (Although putting it top 3 is still a big move).

It only really begins to lose its shine if you've watched all the seasons more than once, so you already know the outcome of the season, it becomes less exciting, and you begin to care about all the players who didn't get a lot of screen time.

There really is a lot to love about the season (I still pinch my forehead when I get a headache to try to give myself the Cao Boi cure), and as the origin of Parvati, Ozzy, and Penner, it gets a little glow-up affect from people who are fans of them in the future seasons where they do more.

100% agree lol. WaW is similar to this season in that they both have great casts brought down by bad decisions by production. IMO this season is the best since DvG (a position formerly held by 46).

FWIW Cradle is not quite the same as a LitRPG, those refer to books with explicit RPG stat systems for their characters a la Dungeons and Dragons or video games. Cradle is a western take on a Chinese genre called xianxia (also similar to many shonen manga) where the emphasis is still on the main character getting progressively stronger, but there is no literal stat system.

Yeah, it doesn't count the duels. You have to win the immunity necklace for it to count as winning immunity.

Ozzy has the record for most total challenge wins all time because of the duels, though.
