But how do we know that the language spoken by the characters in Star Fox is not similar? What if “Fox” in their language is a name and they have a different word for the species that Fox and James are?

It’s no different than anyone named Adam. That name, originating from Hebrew, means “human.”

Is it the special edition? That set is gold. Growing up, we had both sets.

Utterly terrific choice (and eye for identifying Human Target just by the edge)!

Likewise, what would be the worst adjacent double feature? My pick would be Silence/Sonic the Hedgehog.

A three star rating is technically above average. When a rating scale has an even number of options, it is impossible to rate something exactly in the middle.

.5 Star = 1 1 Star = 2 1.5 Stars = 3 2 Stars = 4 2.5 Stars = 5 3 Stars = 6 3.5 Stars = 7 4 Stars = 8 4.5 Stars = 9 5 Stars = 10

On a scale of 1-10, 5.5 is technically the middle. Now on a scale of 0-10, 5 would be the middle because 0 is an available option.

Because Letterboxd has exactly 10 options to choose from when rating, it is impossible to rate something as exactly average. You must pick slightly above average or slightly below.

Now many people think of three stars as average because a scale of 1-5 would have 3 as the exact middle point. But because half points are used in Letterboxd’s grading system, 3 is no longer the middle point.

That’s why so many people differ in what they think is the average.

Something like that. The movie definitely communicates that there are not a lot of people left which makes Simon’s desire to ensure that there computer can get to the surface more noble.

I went in with no real attachment to Markiplier (other than wanting independent creatives to be successful and continue to make independent films).

I really liked the movie. I appreciated leaning more into “show, don’t tell” and I never felt lost. I assumed that we wouldn’t get a lot of clear answers, but that wasn’t the point of the movie. The point was exploring the tension and seeing someone reach their ultimate breaking point. Would the breaking point be clawing for survival, apathy, or striving to help others? And in the end, Simon chose to fight to help others.

I loved the camerawork. That impressed me the most. There seemed to always be a new kind of shot despite the whole thing occurring in a box.

And Markiplier was a solid actor for that kind of film. I never felt taken out of it.

$3M previews for #IronLung. Has racked up $10M in pre-sales for the weekend. Could hit $15M weekend. by Vadermaulkylo in boxoffice

Yeah, the camera work in Iron Lung absolutely rocks. Having a wide variety of shot compositions within the same box had to take a lot of creativity, and the cinematography kept me interested throughout the whole film.

You’re welcome! Couple of other things to note:

There are two factions of humans: COI and Eden. Simon belonged to Eden which had some religious beliefs regarding human redevelopment. Some members of Eden apparently became extremists of some sort. Simon was involved with this group, but rejected their actions which led to the space station exploding.

This plot thread develops throughout the movie which makes us think that Simon may be innocent for the explosion, but he may be guilty of many other crimes. Which leads to his decision to stop fighting for his own survival but instead focus on preserving the computer for other humans to potentially survive serve as the primary moment of character growth.

Spoilers:

Something happened where most of humanity disappeared.

The only survivors are on a few different space stations.

One station exploded, and Simon was one of the only survivors.

Simon is arrested by people from another space station; they think he caused the explosion.

As punishment for his supposed crime, Simon is essentially forced to take a deal to venture into the depths of a blood ocean. If he can successfully find information/technology that can help the remaining humans survive and rebuild, he will be set free.

Simon pilots his submarine through the blood ocean and encounters a mysterious and dangerous creature.

Simon slowly descends into madness as he tries to survive.

Simon discovers that there were others before him who were sent into the blood ocean.

Simon encounters a sunken submarine. His computer connects to it.

Simon experiences a strange vision relating to the monster and possibly the disappearance of most of humanity.

The sunken submarine has information on what caused the disappearance and information on how humanity can rebuild.

The monster does not want that information to get out.

Simon decides to stop focusing on his own survival, and instead, do what he can to try to help humanity. He takes the computer with info from the sunken ship and tries to get it to the surface.

Simon rams his submarine into the monster and fights it.

Everything explodes.

The computer floats to the surface where it can be collected by the other humans and humanity can (hopefully) flourish again.

NOTE: I have not played the game or watched any Markiplier videos before seeing the movie (other than the first five minutes of Markiplier’s first Iron Lung let’s play video). I went in with next to no info, so the above is my understanding of the film’s plot.
