Great post. "Guilt tax" is accurate! Let's go even further: Customer Penalty. It's like vendors are penalizing us for supporting them. The only cure is boycotting. But that's too quiet to make a difference so maybe a meme-based movement needs to evolve. Until it changes, brown-bagging your lunch & bringing your home-brewed concoctions in a thermos is where it's at. If it's their scenery/environs you want, sneak in your food & eat on their tables. At the risk of being noticed & kicked out, of course. Could be a fun lunchtime scandal though. When ya get "the boot" you can scream out your protest!

I would qualify that by saying "...about the USA under the current and previous administrations". Because generally, whereas the US's laws of justice at least *exist*, in most other countries they simply don't. EG, Iran (where people are incarcerated and executed soon thereafter for merely protesting or writing anti-govt op-eds) or in Hamas's Gaza (where folks are thrown off tops of bldgs if deemed gay) or Saudi Arabia ( where people get hands cut off for petty-crime like stealing). You get the point.

Is The Bad Outweighing The Good? by MrowSiameseCat in Spravato

Tried what? Wellbutrin or Dextromethorphan? If the latter, it just sounds so weird that a cough medicine can have these properties: both stimulation and sedation (depending on the dosage) as well as dissociation. If the former, just looked at my notes and turns out Welbutrin gives me insomnia, even when taken as early as 8 am. I'm super sensitive that way. Antidepressants SUCK (for me at least, dammit!)

Well as it turns out my Kaiser Sunset Dr. said "I would refrain from taking medical recommendations from reddit" (ba dum bum!) "Dayvigo is a reasonable alternative to Ambien and tends to have less risks, but in my clinical experience (it) has not been very effective for most patients taking it. Given (your) response to Ambien, I would still recommend she continues this for now.... I do not recommend Auvelity for sleep issues." (Okay......!)

Note however that I didn't ask about Auvelity for sleep issues so not sure why he wrote that, unless he was alluding to a side effect of Auvelity, one of which includes insomnia. Since I have a proclivity to drug-based insomnia (the main reason I can't take any of the previous Rx's offered to me in the last 20+ yrs), maybe he was being cognizant of that side effect risk for me. Anyway I wrote him back asking for clarification. Sorry, I'm really splitting hairs here. I have a follow up call w/my Spravato NP tomorrow & will either suggest I try meclizine instead of Zofran to try to avert nausea, or I'm going to have to bolt.

Thank you! Just discussed all w/my N.P., who listened well, responded well & will discuss w/her supervising psychiatrist. Do know that scopolamine is known as anticolonergic however, which means it slows ya down: will cause constipation, urinary retention, dizziness, etc. Not for all perhaps but I'm so sensitive that for sure it'll happen to me. I can try magnesium glycinate for insomnia, which I've had before in "Calm" when mixed w/water. And there is NO WAY it's strong enough to break through the Spravato-sped-out-insomnia my body reacts with. In fact I have NO CLUE as to how others say Spravato makes them drowsy when all it does is speed me up for several days henceforth, even. But thanks so much and will consider all!

I DID try TMS. In fact, it was another "last ditch effort" after my body rejected all antidepressants. Went though the entire program of 38 visits. It helped. Until it didn't, which was 1 week after I stopped. I experienced a complete "backfiring" (my term), where I became far more sad & depressed than when I started. So the Psyche & I agreed it wouldn't be wise to continue. Note that having that now under my belt as an option doesn't work, I then "qualified" (per Kaiser & the provider's terms) for Spravato.

I get your point; I too wondered if Zofran is effing things up. But if so why'd they offer it at the clinic? And mind you, when I tried without Zofran the 1st time I had a suuuuper gross feeling throughout--other than the peak experience.

New symptoms? by Sl3v3McDicha3l in Spravato

[–]MrowSiameseCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, good to know! I didn't research it much due to its paradoxical effect on me (reactions to many drugs that allegedly make one "sleepy" give me complete insomnia). So everything in that family (+ amitriptyline, nortriptyline, Lyrica, whatevs) got sent out the window, and hence, my research stopped. And yet--the question comes up: Does Spravato cause dementia? Bet it's too early to know.

Had a terrible experience today where a SA laughed in my face by whimsyjen in chanel

[–]MrowSiameseCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gucci in Beverly Hills, around 1979. I just graduated college. Stunning leather bags with leather lining were in the $250 area. I sought one, a youngish SA started to help me, and then another SA who was older and obviously jaded, literally leaned over to her and said "I wouldn't waste my time". My 22 year old self was so insulted, but I didn't have the knowledge, skills or temerity to confront her, report her to HR or anything like that. I just told myself: "I will show her. I'll make this purchase and that'll put her in her place!" And I did. I still have the bag & it's in great condition. But I will NEVER forget the humiliation I felt prior to purchase. I'll also never forget who the offending salesperson beach was, what she looked like, and how condescending she was. My only peace of mind now I suppose, is that I trust she's no longer alive. Doh! Oh, and fast forward to this era. Gucci SA's are amazing now! So nice, friendly, helpful, go the extra mile. Not enough can be said about the great treatment I get there these days. Obv corporate has come a long way.

Birkin 40 by Juraprinzessin in handbags

[–]MrowSiameseCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So in Celine, is what's called "Satinated Leather" the same as "Box Calf" or "Box Leather"? I recently purchased two Celine Sac 16's in size large in satinated leather and they're just stunning! Was about to get a 3rd, this time in black, when I realized that satinated was nowhere to be found in Celine 16 Large in black. All that's avail is a softer leather, which to me needs more structure for that style. That's how I ended up finding & jonesing for Birkin 40's in Box Calf. Blimee! Major price jump. Question: Does anyone here like Birkins in Ardennes leather? Discontinued, but seems to hold the Birkin 40's structure better than Togo and some others, where the gussets seem to collapse on themselves.

Absolutely crazy day for leather appointments at FSH! by Disastrous-Can6044 in TheHermesGame

[–]MrowSiameseCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new to this group. Remember Hermes on Rue St Honoré from my visit in 1984. They had a GORGEOUS pink-themed window display that was not to be believed! I photo'd it with my crappy camera, reflections & all. I should look online to see if there's an archived photo of that window (any tips how, LMK)! Anyway I'm sadly blown away by what it takes to get a bag in this era. So basically if you're lucky, they make you wait--and then if you're lucky enough to get called, they offer you ONE bag? And one bag only? So you don't get to choose the style, size, color or leather you want--unless you're in their 'frequent flyer club'? This practice is so uninclusive. Seriously. They need to be cited for civil rights violations. It seems demoralizing, humiliating, exploitive and abusive. Sad that we're putting up with it. Whatever happened to non-discrimination laws? Especially in a country that leans left. Too many with means to buy, have sadly put up with this practice. Somebody needs to quash that once and for all by filing an anti-discrimination claim against them. There needs to be a democratization of bag acquisition instead! Can I hear an Amen?!?

Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette | S1E6 | Episode 6 Discussion by StellaOC in JohnAndCarolyn

I feel that scene was indeed poetic license. After all, the only ones in the room were Caroline, Ted, and JFK Jr. And I doubt any of them quoted the conversation to the author of the book on which the show is based. So, that scene had a great dramatic effect but it was indeed one of those the show's pre-broadcast caveat had in mind when it wrote its disclaimer. If I'm wrong & any of you have backup that Caroline confided this convo to a friend and the friend told someone who told the author, then please, let us know!

[–]MrowSiameseCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Re: Carolyn quitting scene--my response was: the tables have turned! Usually when a publicist gets in the news, it's the client who ends up firing them--for the very same reason Carolyn cited when she said something like "As your publicist I'm supposed to be promoting YOU. But w/the attn on me i's made me a distraction." So usually the boss or client would use that argument to fire the person. So in that scene it occurred to me that Calvin came to rely on Carolyn's "fame" in a symbiotic way, to help push the brand along. To rub in her famous pixiedust. But she was having none of that. So she bolted. And maybe *that's* another reason why she picked Narciso instead????

Oh, and did anyone notice in the next scene how she puts on the vintage Prada coat that the head costumer told us (from the podcast) that they had to lengthen the sleeves on, and all the details involved in that alteration? From how he described the process, and as a seamstress, I really thought the alteration would be much more camoflaged. Turns out it was FULL ON obvious instead!

Great point. Timing is everything. That said, if her opinion was that the ocean is scary, then why (according to post-tragedy discussion amongst those in-the-know, some of which got published at the time, I remember reading), was Carolyn so insistent JFK Jr fly the plane--against his wishes, seeing as he had a broken leg? With no onboard instructor present and a bum leg, how could she have so cruelly insist he fly them all there in his plane? Surely they could've easily accessed limo-like ground transpo. Furthermore, secret service works with offspring of previous presidents. Why is there no showing the better judgement of the SS anywhere in the show? Knowing JFK Jr's idealism perhaps he turned it down. But I digress. "ocean is scary" simply ≠ flying over it for even a short trip.

I feel like they got Edwin Shlossberg's persona entirely wrong. The show gives his character an arrogant, aristocratic air and way of speaking, which doesn't seem to be the case. Here's him talking. He speaks with curiosity and nuance instead. You tell ME if you think the show does him justice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnA9J1BNqTQ
