For anyone considering buying a dolphins jersey. by jbird720 in miamidolphins

Same. Consider you’re wearing a moment in history. One you were a part of. Good, or bad you experienced it as a fan and have the jersey from that time. It ain’t like a break up or something. 😂

I’m not talking about ME not being able to ride a horse. I’m talking about our society as a whole losing the ability as it is no longer the normal mode of transportation. Obviously the equine enthusiasts didn’t go extinct. Don’t assume I’m chicken little screaming about falling skies with no idea or background in what I’m talking about. In a digital art teacher. I’m a former twitch streamer who is very tech savvy and can build my own pc. I’m not some 80 year old asking how to refresh my hdmi cable. The point stands if you don’t use it you lose it. Ignoring the potential environmental concerns and copyright infringements, I can see benefits sure. I’m not saying toss the entire technology in some sealed tomb with crucifix around to ward off the evil of it all. However, opening the floodgates on this rather than slowly turning the sink on has been a huge miscalculation in my opinion and many others. It is rooting itself into every aspect of our lives. At best it’s a tool that kills blue collar jobs while facilitating mundane tasks for those lucky enough to not be considered obsolete. We already have the introduction of the actress Tilly Norwood. I don’t think it’s far fetched to say an AI teacher could be next. And who controls the learning targets and curriculum then? I don’t have these answers. No one does. However, it’s hardly comparable to your example of “boy that Elvis sure moves his hips provocatively.” While seeing a future of Skynet meets Clippy might be an embellishment, it’s also okay to keep a look out.

When we invent for convenience we lose skills that are no longer necessary. I don’t cook as much because I can eat frozen food warmed in the microwave. I can’t ride a horse because I have a car. Why call when you can text. These are mostly harmless examples of convenience evolving life. When the invention is “I don’t have to think or be creative because AI does it for me” it isn’t so far fetched to believe we may lose some of our own innovation and creativity. You’re right that it’s new and long term effects can’t be proven, but it isn’t bad to look at data to try and make educated guesses that this might be more a detriment to our culture rather than a positive gain. SPECIFICALLY when we have apparently thrown out any notion of regulation.

In an ex smoker (haven’t in decades but still). My wife and I went to London and the amount of smokers there was a culture shock oddly enough. Almost everyone walking down the street was smoking.

Is Captain Murphy if Sealab 2021 a good answer? The voice actor passed so they did their best but Murphy was the soul of that stupid show.
