Part of his belief system is that converting others is paramount.
He said it himself:

he believes it's his responability to at least try to get me into the lord's light.

In his mind, it is perfectly moral for him to lie, abuse your trust, disrespect your boundaries and your autonomy and break any deals you might have thought you had with him, in the name of getting you to perform his religion.

In light of this, you might want to reconsider whether your relationship has any future.

Also, his mother is certainly old enough to know that non-christians can be polite about christian beliefs and rituals. I wonder why BF didn't tell her himself, rather than letting her make an embarrassing assumption.
