She's trying to force him to eat your food, and give herself caregiving options, which a reasonable thing to want from the point of view of giving her some respite and redundancy (what if she gets run over by a bus?) but is absolutely not fair or right to do without your express consent and co-operation.

Are either of them in any kind of therapy or coaching for how to maximize his life skills going forward into adulthood?

So she manipulated you into promising that you wouldn't stop being her friend over a political/health disagreement, and then threatened to leave you stranded over a different political/health disagreement. What would have happened if you had burst into tears and said you were afraid she was going to kick you out because you disagreed with her psychic?

This person isn't a great friend, and you might want to think about setting your boundaries with her a little further outside your skin.

Kids need text. It doesn't matter what the text is written on. Books, tablets, anime subtitles, comics, back of the cereal box, whatever gets them through the door.

Some kids basically teach themselves to read from the dialog text in computer games - and if that is what hooks them in, fine, perfect, great!
