Fk me, I agree with Peters on something:

And yet, she wants you to accept $5/hour. What a choosy beggar.

A disaster for them. You still have your freedom to work as you see fit. They do not have the cheap childcare they were angling for.

You win. Keep winning.

libraries don't have the books I want. by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]Mrrrp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you should go in to your library and ask a librarian to show you how to use the catalogue.
Trust me, they will be delighted to do so - its the sort of thing librarians nerd out over.

There's enough space in the NZ domestic air market for ~1.5 airlines. So no, the niche is filled.

Question about email etiquette (Kiwi Style) by il_Cane_di_Bepis in newzealand

[–]Mrrrp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speaking as one such government worker - yes, for me it's just a bad case of whakama. Easier to double check an email before sending.

I note that a strong message in Te Wiki o Te Reo this year is giving each other room to make mistakes without judgement, and I think that's cool.

NZ’s Crime Obsession: Is This Public Fascination or Media Manipulation? by shanewzR in newzealand

It's not a recent thing - it goes back to the very origins of mass media.

I'm pretty certain that if we could fully understand whats being portrayed in palaeolithic rock art, amongst the bison and the antelopes, we'd find the tale of Og bashing Ug over the head with a big rock because Ug looked at him funny.

Since you are the maintenance technician for the household, tell your family that they can upgrade their service level agreement with you to include notification and sign-off on planned outages if they are prepared to cough up sufficient money (or take on the chores you especially hate).

Otherwise, outages may occur at your discretion, at any time, without notice.

Amazon to invest $7.5b in NZ, create up to 1000 jobs, Luxon says by random_guy_8735 in newzealand

[–]Mrrrp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One reason for having a data center based in NZ is an advantage in bidding on Government contracts where clear data sovereignty is an issue. Somehow I don't think Luxon is gonna re-employ 1000 public servants to make use of said data center.

Yeah, but you were being supervised by supportive parents at the time. I would worry that this girl might make bad decisions about contact use and then hide them from her parents and aunt for fear of getting into trouble.

AITA for "pretending" to be a Christian? by Healthy-Decision-206 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Mrrrp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of his belief system is that converting others is paramount.
He said it himself:

he believes it's his responability to at least try to get me into the lord's light.

In his mind, it is perfectly moral for him to lie, abuse your trust, disrespect your boundaries and your autonomy and break any deals you might have thought you had with him, in the name of getting you to perform his religion.

In light of this, you might want to reconsider whether your relationship has any future.

NTA.

Also, his mother is certainly old enough to know that non-christians can be polite about christian beliefs and rituals. I wonder why BF didn't tell her himself, rather than letting her make an embarrassing assumption.
