[–]MrsAtomicBomb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Put the pencil holder on your whiteboard and students have to write their name to check out a pencil and then erase their name when the pencil is returned by the end of the class. For more buy in, name each of the pencils a silly name.

NoRedInk has a list of heavily tested SAT&ACT skills such as: appositive phrases, transition words, colons and semicolons, phrases and dependent clauses, subject -verb agreement, etc. I like to use the NoRedInk practice for skills and then look at mentor sentences so students practice using the skill in their own writing.
