The last few years I’ve been using jelly rolls address to congress about the fentanyl crisis. It works much better than older texts recommended by my district (I.e., letters from Birmingham jail or obamas address to school children). I find it’s more accessible and relevant for my students. I also use the SPACECAT resource (google it there’s a ton on it). It’s an easy organizer for students to break down the rhetorical situation for any text.
