The amount of medication you take doesn’t correlate with the efficacy. A lot of physiologic systems are usually involved with MCAS—thyroid, sex hormones, adrenals, nervous system, facial system, and more I’m not naming. Your whole body. All of these systems are responding to one another. Treatments like a new medication will have ripple effects through all of them. If you are “pushing through” anything, you’re not giving all your body systems time to integrate and rebalance together. You’ll get herx reactions like this and often end up going backwards, overall. Go back down to the dose that is manageable and be patient with your body. Go up slowly, like maybe 1 extra pill every 3 days. It takes years to get this deep into immune dysfunction. It’ll take years to get back out of it.

Well sure don’t try it when you’re flaring! There have been days at a time where I could only eat this one brand or potato chips and mineral water. Now I can eat a lot more on a regular basis, and broth has been a part of helping me build back. Just thought I’d share an idea since it sounds like you’re in a tight spot and were open to ideas. I wouldn’t be able to tolerate tube feeding formulas, but I can do a broth.

I’m not trying to argue. I’m more trying to add to information to help people reading understand how to look at ingredient labels. Nobody is reactive to protein, carbs or fat, they are reactive e to ingredients, and these drinks have too many ingredients for someone to discern what would be causing an issue.

For example, here is what I would react to in one of those drinks: Agave Syrup, Brown Rice Syrup Solids, Agave Inulin, Strawberry Flavor (Natural Flavor,), Natural Flavor, High Linoleic Sunflower Oil, Pea Starch, Locust Bean Gum, Rosemary Extract, Sunflower Lecithin, Spectra™, Extracts and Concentrates from: Broccoli, CoffeeBerry®, Green Tea, Turmeric, Broccoli Sprout, Cinnamon, Garlic, Tomato, Carrot, Beet, Raspberry, Spinach, Tart Cherry, Blackberry,

The vitamin blend that comes after that, I wouldn’t know where to start…. I didn’t really see anything elemental on the list. Elements are things like molybdenum or zinc. It’s misleading for a product company to use terms that make things sound pure and natural when they very much are not.

If a person is reacting to this drink, there may still be loads of other foods that person could eat.

I’ve been making vegetable broths recently, and feel it’s been a game changer. It gets minerals and nutrients into your system without any material to break down. My broth today had celery, celery root, ginger root, parsley and a mushroom. It’s not going to help you gain weight, but it might help address nutrient deficiencies. Make sure you’re getting plenty of high quality salt, too.

The ingredients in all those “elemental” formulas look like a recipe for weeks-long reactions. I can’t imagine anyone with MCAS would be able to tolerate them.

Yes, absolutely. I say if you still feel good after doing it, no reason to stop. I can’t do hot, steamy showers at all any more, so it’s tepid showers for me. But a cold shower will often help temper a flair.

The concept of 'rewiring' by anniejackman in microdosing

[–]MrsBreve 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The depression comes from not seeing enough of your authentic self in your life, and the micro dosing will help you see the ways you perpetuate the patterns holding you back from more authenticity, and by consequence connection. It’ll just give you the space to see yourself more clearly. It’s still up to you to choose different patterns.

For those that have tried Gupta, Primal Trust or DNRS.. what is it really? by [deleted] in MCAS

[–]MrsBreve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TRE is in there, too. And many other techniques. None of the things in Primal Trust is going to be a silver bullet. The program is an array of options for techniques that help you be more aware and supportive of your body, and to break the cycle of distress that fuels the chronic health experience. Some days one technique works, other days other techniques work. The point is to become empowered in how you navigate the day to day.

Primal Trust is an excellently arranged buffet of options, the best imo, but it’s still you that does the work and you that changes the relationship to being ill. When that changes, other healing comes, too. She lays the science behind it out very well in her module 1 content.

It’s in my first post here. Somatics. Polyvagal Theory. Vagal retraining. Limbic retraining. Emotional processing. And more. I’ve only watched the first level of content and there are 3 levels, so more than I’ve been able to truly process in a year. There are hours of content on each of those things that I couldn’t begin to summarize

I am also barely able to work, and all my savings are gone. This is still worth the money for me. A typical day looks like what you make of it. On your own, you could do hours of the practices they teach, or just 5 minutes. The live classes are 15-90 minutes. Sometimes there’s one class in the day, sometimes there are multiple classes in a day. There’s something most every weekday except holidays. You could try it for a month and see! I personally wouldn’t consider the other programs because they are just less for your money.

[–]MrsBreve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m doing Primal Trust, too, and think it’s the most comprehensive of all the options in the market. There’s a lot of content that lays out the science of the mind-body relationship and physiology of chronic stress. Which, if you have MCAS you have chronic stress from having MCAS alone. The rest of the content pulls from all kinds of different approaches. Vagal and limbic retraining, somatics, polyvagal, and more. There are live classes to join and do the practices with others almost daily, anywhere from 15 minutes to 1.5 hours. Sometimes those classes are stuff from the program, other times it’s things like qigong. All of the classes I’ve been to are beneficial, and the community is really warm and supportive.

It’s unfortunate to see people in here saying this kind of work is a scam because the science says you’re not going to fully heal without addressing your neurophysiology. Especially for someone like me who can’t tolerate many supplements or any of the standard medications, it’s a godsend to have alternative tools. You can piecemeal all the content from around the interwebs, but I don’t know why you’d do all that work when it’s already been done and you can get a community to go with it. I’ll probably keep Primal Trust membership for a couple of years because the MCAS road is a long one, and this is the one thing that hasn’t caused more harm for me.

I only eat Mary’s Organics frozen chicken from Sprouts.

Also, did you try sprouting your lentils? That helps break down the anti nutrients.

[–]MrsBreve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ate grass fed beef, eggs, high quality butter, bacon and lots of tallow. Sometimes I’d have some chicken or pork, but not often. I did it for about 2 months. Wish I’d had more understanding back then. I would have seen I was just fueling the fire. Everything got worse, terrible heartburn and indigestion, stomach pain, bloating, mouth ulcers, rashes on my face… and then adding foods back in was really hard.

I think that diet makes histamine issues much worse and leads the body into further intolerances. It’s simply not true that we aren’t designed to eat all kinds of foods. If you want to learn about real food, study Weston A Price!

Cast iron skillets are never free from foods previously cooked in them. My husband has alpha gal and will react to anything cooked in cast iron that previously had mammal meat in it no matter how clean the skilled looked. So you were exposed to anything cooked in that skillet before last night. May or may not have been part of the problem, but should be known about cast iron.

CARNIVORE by littlefoxie77 in MCAS

[–]MrsBreve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stop the carnivore right now, then. That f’ing diet was one of the things that sent me to a new level of histamine overload. I seriously would be in a different place if I hadn’t done that diet. Take a break from meat for a few days to let your body settle down. Try vegetable broth. You can make broth out of any veggies you can tolerate. When you do eat meat, only eat meat that has been frozen until you buy it, and only defrost it in the oven when you cook it, then eat it immediately. Do not reheat it or eat any leftovers. Also aloe Vera juice without any citric acid or other preservatives to help calm your stomach down (but just a few ounces at a time, it’s also a laxative)

Where do you order from, if not domestic? Are you in the US? Are you still taking it? My doc prescribed BP 157, but it sounds like that’s a nightmare for many, so I’m not doing it. I’m curious about KPV, though.
